J.C. Estrada Roofing replied right away to our phone call and immediately came out to give us a quote. He was prepared to give us a quote right after the inspection, but we asked him to put it in writing and email it to us. The email came soon after and was professionally typed and included all the specific and necessary details. His bid was accepted after considering other bids which were very similar in price. Mr. Estrada's crew came out the next week and completed the job in 2 days. Even with the difficult situation with damaged wood in the patio which was partly under the second story of the house, they did not complain or charge an additional amount. They were extremely thorough and they all worked well together. I was told that this crew had been together for many years. Their cleanup was excellent, including cleaning out the gutters and painting the exhaust pipes that came up through the roof. My constant photo taking did not seem to bother them.
Description of Work: J.C. Estrada Roofing removed and replaced the roof on the back section of our house and on the attached patio cover. The patio cover is flat and had several leaks. Many different roofers tried to patch the leaks without any success. This flat roof is attached to a peaked roof so it added a difficult situation with the different roof levels. This compounded with an unusual situation with part of the 2 story house covering a small portion of the patio cover which had water damaged wood underneath. This damaged wood was removed and replaced and 1/2" plywood was put down on the patio portion of the roof to make it stronger. New shingles that matched the color of the rest of the roof were placed on the sloping roof. All debris was hauled away.

Very, very well. fully professional. They showed up exactly when they said they would each morning and cleaned up meticulously each day before departing. The roof on the 80 year old 1920's house had been repaired many times over the years and most of the wood beneath the "stuff" that goes over it had rotted away. Other roofing companies had given estimates that included how much board they would replace as a limit. Estrada promised to replace as much board as needed and, from what I gathered, had underestimated how much wood required replacing. Yet he never tried to get me to pay more or make up for his own estimating error. And, as a true touch of proffesionalism, he agreed to come back to do an add-on that he had promised to do at a flat cost but had been in the formal bid without trying to recoup his loss on the wood estimates or raise the price. That return work was to add the high-tech white reflective coating that extends the life of the roof and reduces heat gain. Another company quoted that same add-on for $1500 and Estrada charged only $500. very impressive. Nice guys to have around; responsive, and neat. I have already recommended this company to neighbors. The Estrada company gave me a quote that was lower than other companies we asked to bid - so we felt very satisfied.
Description of Work: Fully replaced old flat room (hot tar) that had been repaired many many times with many layers of hot tar with modern roofing materials plus reflective white coating to reduce heat gain; plus work on repairing leaks in tiled portion of roof.

Mr. Estrada was great to do business with. He repaired the roof and the next day I got up there and used the hose, and the leaks had stopped, but there was still standing water on the roof. He returned the very next day and re-engineered his solution, added a channel for drainage, and the problem was solved. He made a serious effort to solve the problem rather than just half-heartedly tweaking what he had done. An excellent guy and skilled roofer. I was happy to work with him.
Description of Work: Repaired a leaky flat roof and skylight; remediated standing water on the roof.

This is the third time that I have used Juan Estrada's roofing services. He is excellent!! Once he makes a repair, it is fixed. The rains this winter have really tested his work. Since his repairs, there have not been any leaks whatsoever. In addition to the repairs at this house, he completely re-did the roof over the garage and repaired rear section of the roof at my mother's home. I'd hired another contractor to repair the area over her front porch but had to have Juan re-do that repair. I have not had to call him back to re-do any of his work but I'm sure he would take of it without any hassles. His prices are competitve. He is responsive, punctual and professional. I couldn't ask for more. I highly recommend Juan without any reservations.
Description of Work: Remove roof tile to repair leak in roof over porch area. He also repaired the area around the chimney and re-sealed the roof around all pipes.

work was done promptly and professionally. I recommend him to everyone. If he doesn't call back right away keep trying -his Company is worth using and you will save money as well.
Description of Work: Replaced and repaired tiles and trough plus many wood parts that were rotten or leaking. Also removed old flat portion of my roof and put in a brand new roof. When he found out that some rafters were bad he replaced them also. He was very professional yet congenial. All his workmen were also professional and knew their business. All work was done on time and to my complete satisfaction. His price was also far below what other roofers quoted to me. I have since hired him again to replace my garage roof and one other roof section. Both these jobs were finished in 2 days. Once again I am completely satisfied.

Juan Estrada (the owner) returned my call the next business day and then he scheduled a visit a couple of days later to assess the work involved. I had already been on the roof and photographed the areas with broken tiles. I left these photos for Juan along with an overview of the roof (from GoogleEarth) and the locations enumerated to match the photos. [ Normally I wouldn't go to the trouble of taking photos of the roof, but I'd used a roofing company about 10 years ago that left the job with a number of tiles still broken and I wanted to make sure this didn't happen again. ] Juan did his inspection while I was at work and he left the estimate at my door. The estimate seemed appropriate given the number of tiles I knew were broken, so I scheduled the work to be done three days later. Juan had two crew members arrive to replace the broken tiles. They were on time, friendly and quickly went to work. It took about 2 to 3 hours to complete the job. I inspected the areas with the crew when the work was completed. All broken tiles were fixed and the new tiles matched perfectly. The crew cleaned up the work area in the lawn where they were cutting the new tiles and cleaned up all work debris from the roof. I was very happy with the overall work, and I'd use this company again.
Description of Work: I needed broken Spanish "S" tiles replaced on my roof. The crew replaced broken field tiles in about 4 areas and broken ridge tiles in 3 areas. The crew had to cut tiles to match irregular areas near seams in the pitched roof, and the ridge tile replacement involved setting them with new cement.

Mr. Estrada showed up on 10/1/10 as agreed. He spent about a half hour at my property then left, telling me "his crew knew what to do." He never came back to inspect or otherwise make sure the work was done right. He instructed his crew to accept final payment. I found JC Estrada Roofing to be not very good at all. They had to replace a piece of plywood on my roof, but were going to leave a rotted piece rather than replace the whole thing . . I had to persuade them to do a complete job and replace ALL the rotted wood . . When they finally finished, they left my freshly painted house with tar and smudge marks that wouldn't come out, it was really a heartbreak to see all that fresh paint ruined. But the real scary thing with Estrada Roofing is the following: Before I had my drywall guy close the damaged wall,I took a hose to the roof just to test it out and guess what, IT LEAKED!! I am so lucky that I didn't just trust Estrada's repair, closing up the damaged wall with new drywall only to have the same problem again!! When I read the fine print of Mr. Estrada's guarantee, it did NOT cover damage to the house, only his repair!!! I would have been stuck paying for another drywall/paint repair even if Estrada covered his defective repair. Well, I promptly called Mr. Estrada who returned my phone call several days later. He came out to my house and told me that a hose is not the same as rain, that rain only falls straight down . . well if you lived through some of California's rain storms you know that rain can be blown in any direction . Finally, Mr.Estrada agreed he would seal up the flashing where the roof met a wall, but said he would come back on the weekend to do it . . that was the last I ever heard or saw Juan Estrada or anyone from his company . he just blew me off. I had another roofer seal the flashing for a small sum, tested the roof again with a hose. It didn't leak anymore and so I finished the drywall/paint repair. The scary thing for me is that I would never have known the roof still leaked if I hadn't tested it before closing the damaged wall! My advice is to find another roofer, but if you must deal with Mr. Estrada, make sure your guarantee covers not only his repair, but any damage to your home caused by any defective repair he might make. I would not recommend Mr. Estrada.
Description of Work: I had a leak in my tile roof that was allowing rain to enter my house, leaking directly into one of the walls in my living room. There was drywall, paint and hardwood floor damage as the leak had been going on for some time, unnoticed as it was leaking directly into the wall where it could not be seen until after the damage was done. I hired JC Estrada Roofing to repair the leak. Juan Estrada came out to see my roof, climbed up on top, in about 10 minutes he came down and said he found the problem "based on his experience in roofing," but could not specifically tell me where. He was pretty convincing, very polite and seemed very confident. He priced the job at $1,800 which I didn't quibble about and gave me a 7 1/2 year warranty on his repair (I wish I had read the fine print and if I knew how Mr.Estrada was going to treat me, I would have passed on this roofer!)

JC came by when he said he would, took measurements, and gave me a quote on reroofing my house, The quote was fair so I gave him a deposit and we set up a date to do the work. He and his workmen arrived on time, fully prepared to complete the project - They cleaned up after themselves and did a very good job. I'm happy - Of course it hasn't rained yet... :) JC

Juan was friendly and professional. His estimate was comprehensive and when the extent of damage hidden under the old shingles became apparent, he made a very fair adjustment to cover the additional labor costs. The work crew was fast and skilled. Having learned the lesson about dealing with less scrupulous roofers in the past, I found Juan to be honest and responsive. The job was done expertly and a minor adjustment needed after the installation of new gutters was made promptly and at no additional cost. A great person and company to deal with, I'm happy to give JC Estrada my highest recommendation.

Juan was great to work with - he was very punctual and responsive throughout the process and his crew did exactly what they were supposed to. If you're looking for an easy, no drama roofing process, I would recommend this company. My only gripe (and the "B" rating for quality) was in the clean-up after the work was done - they could have spent some more time picking up the job site but it wasn't too major. At the end of the day, the roof looks great.

I called several companies to inspect my roof which had some leaking problems. JC Estrada gave me the most competitive bid to replace the roof and because of other good reviews on Angie's list I decided to hire his company. His team arrived on time to start the job and the work was also completed on schedule. At one point during the job, a light rain started. His team stopped work immediately to cover/protect the roof from getting wet and waited until the rain stopped. Fortunately it was only a light shower that quickly passed. During the final walk through/inspection after the job was completed, I noticed some broken tiles were still left on the pitched part of roof. He promised to send someone the next day to replace them which he did. There have been several hard rains since JC Estrada company replaced the roof and no more roof leaking problems as far as I can tell. Estrada seems to be a man of his word and reliable/trustworthy. I would recommend and hire him again.

Juan was VERY prompt when he met me at the property for an estimate. He discussed the probably cause of the leaks in the two buildings where there was a problem. Juan is very knowledgeable and clearly knows his trade well. We agreed on a price. He was busy and would return to do the week in about ten days. He arrived as scheduled and did the work. There was a problem with one of the roof areas which he took care of in an efficient manner. He was cooperative with great follow through.

We had two estimates, including another roofer from Angie's List that received extremely high marks. Juan gave me an estimate for $3,000 if we used the cement tiles that we currently have, including replacements that were damaged while he was working on the roof, or $4200 for clay tiles. The other estimate for cement tiles came to over $5000! The only issue we had was that Juan had failed to mention that he needed electricity when he said that nobody needed to be home, but we were able to fix that problem without too much inconvenience. When the two-day project turned into three days, Juan stuck with his estimate. He was always reachable, and the work seemed to be of excellent quality. Note for those calling for estimates: From the business end, Juan seems to be a one-man shop, which is to say that he doesn't have a group of people in the office answering phones for him. The first day I tried calling him, the phone just rang and rang. Other times, I left messages, and he wasn't great about returning phone calls. Once we were able to get in touch however, and he left me his cell phone number, communication was no longer an issue. So keep persevering to get through to him; you won't be sorry!

Perfect. I called on Thursday before the week of solid rain came. He called me back that night. He came on Friday with an estimate and was back on Saturday to make the repairs. It took a little less than an hour and he was EARLY, which was great on a Saturday. He was polite, efficient and gave me an idea on where my roof stood, in general. I feel he was extremely honest and trustworthy. I was very pleased given the fact that the rain was coming and he was able to accomodate so quickly. I will use only Estrada roofing when it is time to replace my roof and fix my ridgecaps and I will pass his name along. There's much to be said about trusting a home repair professional and he is right up at the top. The rain has come and I no longer hear it pinging on my pipe above my hallway.
Description of Work: Had 4 flashings sealed on pipes extending out of my roof-one had leaked and caused a visible stain in my hallway. A week of 4-8 inches of rain was in the forecast for the following week. He guarantees against leaking for two years.

I found JC to be reliable and responsible. His estimate was accurate, the work was done in a timely manner and they did a great job cleaning up afterward. Although two of the three-man crew didn't speak English which made it a bit of a challenge to communicate, his foreman did. We paid in two installments and JC would only take the second check when we were satisfied with the work. The real test of a roofer is the rainy season, and everything is solid.

Originally, I had 5 companies give me estimates about a year ago, but didn't have the money to proceed. A year later, I contacted Juan Estrada to return for the job. He came on 9/15 & took a $1,000-deposit. His team came on the 16th & finished on the 17th. They also cleaned up afterward on both days.
Description of Work: Repaired garage roof for $2,000 & 4-plex roof for 1,300. The 4-plex required clay Spanish tile that has become rare. Other roofers said it would be costly. Juan, the owner, said he already had enough clay tile to do the job. Each roof repair has a 5-year warranty. Since I didn't climb up onto either roof, I really can't report on the quality of the work. However, the warranty suggests that the quality is good.

Met four highly rated roofing contractors and got four estimates; Juan Estrada had the most convincing reviews, he was very knowledgeable and patient, he provided written documentation of his license, worker's comp and insurance information, and he had the best price. Best of all, he did exactly what he said he'd do. His crew showed up on time on the appointed day, they worked the hours he said they would; there was an experienced supervisor on site at all times, they completed the job in the time frame he specified (2.5 days), and at the end of each day, they left the site broom clean. He even gave us the Angie's List discount. What a guy!

From start to finish, there were no major problems. Juan returned all calls within 24 hours. He went to the property and emailed an estimate. We set up a day for the work and in the meantime he covered the leaky area to protect it from the rain. I went down the day of the work and his crew was busy at work. They were courteous and clean. Juan came by and we discussed the project. Everything went well. After I left the building, his work truck scrapped a hole in the stucco of the garage. Juan called me about it, went back to the building and made the repair. I appreciate that sort of honesty and proactive approach. I have several other buildings and would use Juan again.
