Old water heater failed on a Sunday night. A technician was dispatched promptly. We decided to replace the old unit with a tankless water heater. A technician came the next day and installed the new tankless heater. They were prompt and very professional.
Description of Work: Replaced old water heater with new tankless water heater.

I was really impressed with the service over all. I called Ford's at approximately 4:40pm today (a Sunday, no less) and a technician arrived at my home by 5pm. They said they would be over in an hour, but it was more like 20 minutes. Also, I called a few other plumbers off of Angie's list before Ford's and no one answered their phone, nor have they YET to return my voicemails. I got a live voice when calling Ford's today - and got routed to the on-call technician immediately. My goal was to have our bathtub clog fixed before I had to give my daughter a bath around 6pm and we had more than ample time for that. Will absolutely call Ford's again for future service calls! Technician was friendly, knowledgeable, clean cut and extremely polite / professional.
Description of Work: Our bathtub has been draining slower and slower over the last 6 months. When I woke up this morning and it still wasn't drained from last night, I figured it was finally time to call a plumber! I've had someone try to fix it before, but to no avail. I checked for a plumber on Angie's list and found Ford's. The technician came out and unclogged the drain for us.

I woke up in the morning, walked into the kitchen and had a leak from the kitchen ceiling. And I phoned around and Ford's Plumbing and Heating was actually able to come out within 1.5 hours after the call. So, I liked that, considering it was Saturday, as well. He actually got here earlier than he said. The worker who came was very knowledgeable. The fee was a bit high, but it needed to be done, six feet of pipe, and it was an emergency. I would call them out again. He was very clean and very friendly.
Description of Work: I called them out for a plumbing emergency.

I called Ford's Plumbing and Heating and gave them a short list of problems that she was having. I wasn't able to be onsite to meet them. They showed up to my Mother's place and helped her with her problems. Fast and efficient and I wasn't stuck in the middle. Thank you Ford!
Description of Work: Meet my new plumbing company! My elderly Mother needed some plumbing help. Something wasn't working right with her toiled and she was having debris in dishwasher. They fixed both issues fast and effectively.

This was a great experience for me and my family. Impact was very minimal, and the results were swift.
Description of Work: I had an issue with the pilot light in my water heater going out. Turns out there was an issue with the gas line at the meter. Jeremy Munoz was on call, came out that evening, and in a few short minutes helped me to diagnose the problem, and fix it. I felt as though the focus was in my best interest, very professional, and that he was knowledgable. I would (and will) call again as the need arises.

Needed to replace an old, non-compliant gas flex-line from the service input to the stove top. We had purchased the new flex-line, but the fittings on both the stovetop and the service input line were dated an no longer standard size. Ford Plumbing was extremely responsive and promply repaired the gas line connection by replacing the fittings and adding a proper shutoff valve. Gas to the home had to be turned off, however, the service tech took extra time to help relight all pilot lights throughout both our front home and the back/guest home including the furnaces and hot water tanks. A bit pricey but likely on par with the industry for a single service call. Will most definitely use Ford Plumbing's services again should the need in the future arise.
Description of Work: Gas line connector repair between service feed and cooktop, including update of proper fittings and flex-line connector.

My hot water heater broke and started leaking on Xmas eve. I looked up Ford's Plumbing on Angie's List per my landlord's instructions (who was out of town) and they came out within the hour. They didn't have the parts because of Xmas the next day but they are coming back the following day to fix. Jeremy was the service guy and he was really helpful. Great experience so far.

I purchased a short sale property. The former owner had destroyed the plumbing. He failed to disclose it. And the inspectors failed to identify it. Ford's identified the problem, cleaned and removed the sewage from under the house, and laid all new pipes. It took several weeks. All the workmen were professional, punctual, friendly, and hard working. The work has been high quality. I was happy to have hired them and have not worried about the plumbing since.

Two workers came from Ford to inspect the heater. They arrived promptly (and were very dog friendly). They tested out the heater and found it wasn't serviceable and were meticulous in presenting some alternative methods for heating that we might consider at a future time. I was ready to pay the fee for the on-site visit (with a coupon from their website the company had already pointed me to) but they did not want the payment since they could not service the heater. All in all the company and its members seemed very professional to work with and I would definitely consider them for the bigger future project at hand.

I was looking for a highly rated local plumber and Ford's plumbing ended up by the top of my search. Scheduling the appointment was easy. Unfortunately they were very backed up so I had to wait for a week. I was in no rush so this did not bother me The technician was very professional the whole time. We don't wear shoes in our house and he had no problem wearing the the footies. He answered every question I had and never made me feel like I was bothering him. He clearly explained the prices at each step of the process. I felt he went out of his way to show good customer service. By the end he was unable to get our heater to respond to the thermostat, he went back into the crawl space and tried a number of things. He said most likely they would need to replace the thermostat and the wiring as he was able to control the furnace manually. We scheduled a follow up appointment for the work and the technician left. Shortly after he left the furnace started blasting hot air at full force. I turned down the thermostat and called Ford's plumbing. They put me in touch with the technician who was happy to hear that the Thermostat was now responding. He asked me to test a few things to make sure it was a permanent fix.
Description of Work: Service the heating system for my main house and guest house of my recently purchased home. Test the wall furnace in the guest house and explain normal operation Relight the pilot for the main house furnace. Perform extensive cleanup of the furnace. Perform diagnostics as the thermostat was not working as expected

Thank you Angies' list, for recommending Ford's Plumbing. They are the most professional plumbing service THAT I HAVE EVER USED. Let me say at this time, that I have called every plumber in the yellow pages and in the local paper 2, 3, 4 or more times over the last 25 years. My average plumbing maintenance and repair bill was $3000 to $4000 a year. This is why I love Ford's Plumbing; they have totally reversed all of the bad experiences that I have ever had with past plumbers, including: arriving many hours late or not at all; completing a job and then needing to be called back again a week later for the same problem; unprofessional attitudes and poor communication skills; not having the proper equipment to get the job done; over-charging by hundreds of dollars for minimal work; never suggesting action plans for permanent solutions; and leaving a dirty mess inside and outside the house. After I used your list to select Ford's to solve a leaking water heater problem, I was so satisfied with the overall job, that I ultimately used Ford's Plumbing for 2 more major plumbing jobs this past year. I spent over $10,000 with them, but then I knew that I would not have to continue spending up to $4000.00 a year for 'patchwork' temporary solutions again. I love Reilly, a very courteous and patient young man who represented the company and worked with me on each of the 3 main projects; doing some of the work himself and checking any work performed by others. He also gave me estimates and options, especially when it came to the cost of the services, and he tried very sincerely to save me money where it was practical and possible. All of the work objectives were clearly explained, and completed in a timely and professional manner. I am glad he informed me of all of the advantages of a tankless water heater. He told me, from the beginning, that his company's objective was to upgrade and offer permanent solutions to the homeowner's plumbing problems. A few things that impressed me: 1. When I researched the Nortiz model tankless water heater that they installed for me, I found it to be the top, top of the line of tankless water heaters. Reilly later explained to me that his company always uses the highest quality materials, and it was true. They could have easily installed a cheaper model, and I would not have known the difference. 2. When I explained that my tenants were without hot water, and I would appreciate it if they expedited the work on installing the tankless water heater, they came out in the pouring rain, and set up canvas tents to work underneath. What plumbing company has ever done that?! 3. When I pointed out that the original estimate for the tankless water heater did not include an electrical outlet installation, and that it seemed to be a surprise increase in the total cost, they discussed my concern with the owner of the company, who graciously deleted this labor and material charge from the total bill. ($225) 4. After working all day at other plumbing jobs, Reilly stopped by late in the day, to crawl under the house and inspect all of the lateral plumbing pipes that his team had replaced during the day (for project #2). He suggested one additional extension that he felt needed to be done, but that would not change the cost of the original estimate. He completed this work himself. 5.When my main root infested sewer line backed up, (project #3), he did NOT suggest that I hydrojet it again for $1000, or replace the entire sewer line for $15,000 - like all of the other plumbers had done. Instead, he ran a camera down the entire length for free, and discussed exactly where each break and root infested area was located. We came up with an action plan to run a sleeve down the damaged areas, with minimal invasive digging, and breaking of concrete. The cost was reasonable, and it was finally a permanent fix. 6. I was laid-off of my 35 year job in May, right in the middle of the sewer line project #3. After I mentioned it to Reilly, he asked the owner if I could make monthly payments on this final project. The owner once again graciously agreed, which helped to reduce some of the stress and financial burden I was facing from suddenly being unemployed. Last of all, I want to mention that their office clerk, Rissy, has a very sweet and efficient manner, and it is always a pleasure to speak with her. I will be calling her in the spring to schedule another appointment with Ford's Plumbing to install a new tankless water heater on my house. It is such a nice feeling to build a relationship with a company that you can trust. It only took me 25 years to find the right plumber.
Description of Work: First, Ford's Plumbing provided (for free) options, solutions, time frames and estimates for all services performed. 1. Supply and install one new Nortiz Model #NR50 Tankless water heater in predetermined location. 2. Supply and install proper sized hot and cold water lines, gas line and service valves. 3. Supply and install outdoor electrical outlet and electrical lines for new tankless water heater. 3. Complete removal and disposal of existing style water heater. 4. Complete test and tune of system for highest efficiency. 5. Replace the entire horizontal kitchen, laundry and bathroom lines under the house. 6. Repair galvanized supply line to bathroom sink. 5. Cut concrete outside of home in driveway 6. Excavate, repair and line a 15' root infested section of the main sewer pipe, including an elbow section.

When we called, I described exactly what was required including already having a brand new replacement faucet of the same make and model. We were told it would be $89.95 . When he came, he doubled the price, but did give us a 20% Angie's discount. I might have given him the business anyway, but now do not trust the way they do business. The installation and the conduct of the service mention were good.

The plumber arrived on time and cleared the drain. He told my roommate that the overflow plate wouldn't work because it only had one screw hole and the tub required a plate with two. She told him all the parts were in the bathroom but he said there was no way to install it. The plate had come with a bar to convert it from a two screw tub to a single screw plate. After I returned home, I installed it myself. When it came time to pay, my roommate gave the technician the 20% off coupon provided through angie's list. The coupon on it says "Maximum value $100.00" but the technician said since the work was more than $100, he wouldn't accept it (I'd like to know what services are under $100 if a drain cleaning is $150...). After some discussion, he applied the 20% off to the first $100 of the invoice and charged the full remaining amount. That still seems wrong according to the language on their coupon, but I was tired of dealing with the company. Also, they don't provide technician's phone numbers so you have to call their office and wait for a return call if you have a question regarding the service.

Even though it turned into a huge expense, I want to emphasize that I couldn't have asked for a better team of plumbers than Jeremy and Fabian. From the beginning they were courteous, professional, well-mannered, intelligent, and communicative. My sewer line backed up at night (as these things always do), leaving me without even the ability to run the faucets, let alone use the bathroom. I called that evening (they have on-call plumbers for cases like these) and they were at my house first thing in the morning to fix it. After a video inspection of the line and an examination of the pipes (from under my very shallow, awkward craw-space) they determined that my original clay sewer pipes were the victims of massive root-intrusion. The immediately began digging down to get to the pipe so that they could cut out and replace the blocked section. The pipe turned out to travel much deeper underground than any of us expected, but they just fetched some more equipment and kept on digging. By the next day (a Saturday mind you), around eight feet of digging later, they reached the pipe and were able to open up a section for continued video inspection beyond the root intrusion. What they found was that they clay pipe had also cracked at the point where it met up with the city line, shifting it out of alignment. This is bad. The only options are to start digging up the street to replace the entire pipe all the way to the city line (which involves the city -- enough said), or use a technique to reline the interior of the pipe with a fiberglass shell (which essentially creates a new pipe without any more digging). I chose the fiberglass. By the end of the day (again, a Saturday) they had scheduled a pipe-lining contractor to start work first thing Monday morning. By mid-day Monday the fiberglass was pumped into place, and a few hours later we had a fully functional sewer line with a 50 year warranty. The whole job took several days, but Jeremy and Fabian made sure I was never without water or a toilet for more than a few hours. Though they spent most of their time digging in they dirt, they showed up each day in clean uniforms with a very pleasant demeanor, worked hard with no complaints, and safely secured the worksite before leaving each day. They even managed to preserve the foliage that covered the dig site. Thanks again guys!I have used Ford's for all my plumbing needs since I bought the house eight years ago. They have always provided me with excellent service at a reasonable price, and in a timely fashion. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to use them again, and I would encourage others to do the same.

First time around, Ford's was a no-show and when we called to follow-up the dispatcher tried to say that we cancelled the appointment, which we did not. They were not willing or able to reschedule the appointment until we told them that we would write a review on Angie's List. Instantaneously, a responsible and helpful appeared at our home. While the technicians might be outstanding and I suspect they are, given the rating on Angie's List, there is an operational dysfunction at the company regarding scheduling and maintaining appointments. I recommend that they clean up the ops/dispatch department so it does not diminish Ford's reputation. Going forward, I would give them one more chance.

I contacted FORD's on a weekend, by email to have 3 kitchen faucets installed in different apartments in the same building. They contacted me early the next business day and we made an appointment. The appointment time slipped a little but they kept in touch so I waited. When the plumber showed up he was cranky and wouldn't listen to a word I said. I lost my temper and he put me on the phone with the owner. Rob Ford handled it expertly and the work got done. Rob's son showed up with some parts and made up for everything with his excellent attitude, communication and plumbing skills. At the end of the day, the grumpy plumber apologized (i did, too) and we shook hands. He did more work the next day and I have no problem with him. I'm impressed with FORD'S management, plumbers and the work they did.

I found Ford's team to be really great. I say "team" because for about 8 days I had at least 2 - 6 guys at my house for about 6 hours a day. Everyone was exceptionally nice, professional, pleasant and HARDWORKING. I am not kidding when I tell you that this team worked exceptionally hard. The team always arrived when planned. On the one day they needed to change their arrival time, the office called me promptly in the morning to let me know, which I really appreciate. Everyone was happy to answer any questions I had, and they always let me know when the water needed to be turned off. They also made sure I had working plumbing every day. Despite digging a massive trench in my front yard, my neighbors were surprised I was having such major work done because my yard was left so clean every night. And they worked just as hard at making sure they returned the dig zone back to it previous condition. Reilly (my project lead) was very personable, professional and had excellent follow-up. He was very clear about what each phase of the project would entail and they stood by their original bid, even when the digging was more than anticipated. In general a super nice dude. I have also spoken with the owner, Robert, who is truly interested in making sure his clients are happy with the work performed. I am so pleased to have discovered Ford's Plumbing. They do a really quality job, and are great to work with.
Description of Work: I initially called Ford's to address issues with my dishwasher overflow valve and what I assumed was a routine clog in my pipes. The routine clog was the disintegration of my home's circa 1940's clay sewer pipe due to age and invasion of roots from the trees on our street. Ford's Plumbing dug up and replaced over fifty feet of sewer pipe outside of my home - much of it 10' down in mud, as well as replaced the pipe under my home - which is a terrible job because my crawl space is tight and they had to dig down several feet. They also serviced my tankless water heater.

They didn't call me so when I called to follow up for the appointed time, they said that they already walked the property with someone who already let them in. I have no idea who it was because Ford never called me back.No follow up call, no estimate. I didn't receive any service from them after two verbal promises over the phone from their receptionist.
Description of Work: Requested an estimate to replace several drain pipes for the terrace deck as well as future sewer cleaning routine maintenance.

Response from Ford's Plumbing and Heating
We at Ford's strive to provide excellent customer service. When we received notification of your report, we immediately looked into the situation; we reviewed all incoming calls, polled our answering service for any afterhour or possible missed calls, and checked our customer and dispatch records. Unfortunately, were unable to locate your information or the address that you have mentioned. It is possible that you may have spoken to another plumbing company. If you are willing, contact our office at 310-815-1515, and we would be happy to come out to your property and meet you for a proper estimate to take care of your plumbing needs.

Quote for boiler repair: Here's my experience: I called Fords Plumbing as my water heater was making a humming noise for the first minute every time it switched on to heat. Whilst they were prompt in responding and sending someone out, what happened after that was disappointing. The plumber after inspecting the boiler told me about a $90 quote charge (nobody I talked to mention anything about this before then). Then after making a few calls from his van his quote was (a) replace parts that were special order and would take 2 weeks and have NO to guarantee of fixing the problem or (b) replace boiler which could be done the next day. I got a second opinion from another plumber who told me over then phone that my symptoms were 90% of the time caused by a kink in a pipe and if parts are needed that I should call the manufacturer to see if it still under warrantee. When I called up It turned out that the boiler was under warrantee and replacement parts would be sent the next day for FREE and that they had received a call from fords plumbing to check the same. Not only that but the problem was a kink in the pipe which I fixed myself in 2 mins once I knew what to do. When i called up and told them everything i knew, and asked for my $90 back they said would call me back and never did. UPDATE: After posting this review, Ford's Plumbing's customer service has since called me back and offered to refund my $90 whilst apologizing for a "Mix up" with this quote. I appreciated that gesture, and it demonstrates the power of Angies list reports.

They were really good. They were on time and gave us 20% discount. They were very nice. They put on booties to so the floors would not get dirty.
Description of Work: They put in a new water heater with a timer. We were not getting hot water upstairs so they installed a pump. They fixed our jacuzzi tub too.
