DO: Mention that you are a first time customer. DON'T: Expect miracles, like a drycleaners there are things they won't treat aggressively like ink marks etc.
Description of Work: Ace cleaned two of my couches (7ft each) and 12 carpeted stairs. They were very kind over the phone when I was scheduling the appointment. The person who does their scheduling was able to give me a quote which was close to what I ended up paying. First time customers get a considerable discount (20% or close to it) The servicemen were punctual, quietly professional , courteous and left no mess behind. I gave the overall score of 'B' not because the work isn't good, but only because it seems like little work for what (I'm told) is a normal price for a reputable company. (they service hotels etc) Two men and one cleaning apparatus did all 3 projects in an hour or less. The couches do look better for sure though, and that is a feat (we have 3 dogs, you get the idea.)

The quality of work was very poor. Ace was very unprofessional in both performance and quality control. They have a good sales team, but the quality of work is terrible and field supervision is underwhelming. I normally check Angie's List before engaging any service provider. I didn't see this outfit listed, but it will be now. I got into this mess because I responded to a sales phone call (. . . have people working in the neighborhood, etc.). I liked the fact that they would send someone out to inspect the carpet and give me quote - unlike some companies that offer a cheap special price without knowing the situation. Ace's two man team didn't so much remove the soil as spread around more evenly, and the carpet was sopping wet when they left. They didn't vacuum the carpet before starting the cleaning process and they didn't have a truck-mounted system. Instead they used a machine with a circular rotating brush (with little sprayer for the cleaning solution ) to shampoo the carpet and a hand brush on stair edges. They had "rug doctor" sized machine (Timbuktoo brand), supposedly for extraction, but I don't recall seeing them use it and dump any water. Maybe that's why the carpet was "squishy" with liquid when the left - I had four fans running for two days to dry the carpet after using towels to soak up the excess liquid. James, the salesman who inspected the carpet and provided the quote was actually pretty good. He gave me the name of an independent carpet repair person who did a good job of the making some needed repairs. Too bad the performance was to poor. The two-man team was in such a hurry to leave that they left behind an obviously expensive piece of equipment, a stainless steel tube with extractor nozzle, in my garage (apparently then never used it). I figured I'd get a quality control call or at least a call looking for the nozzle, but it never came. I finally called and complained to the owner. She sent her field supervisor to pick up the nozzle and inspect the work done. She said something about fixing whatever the problem was, but I concluded that Ace didn't have the equipment or knowledge to do the job properly. This fellow, Phillip as I recall, said he would never have taken the job. I told him I was well aware that the pet stains wouldn't completely come out, and Ace sent James out to see the carpet and give the estimate. I told him that when I rubbed a white towel on the carpet after his people left, it turned dark gray with dirty water. He responded that, if I engaged them again in the future (never happen), they'd get more dirt out. He pointed out that if I had the carpet cleaned more frequently, it wouldn't be as dirty. I wasn't impressed. I used a Hoover SteamVac to re clean some areas and got much better results than Ace. My neighbor recommended a rug-cleaning outfit with great Angie's list reviews - I'll use them next time, and hopefully replace the carpet
Description of Work: Quoted carpet cleaning job was to spot, shampoo and extract two bedrooms, hall and stairs for $195.00

I received an unsolicited call from Ace Rug and Furniture Cleaning. While I don't usually use companies that solicit me from purchased lists, I decided to get a quote from them because I just happened to need my sofas cleaned. I scheduled a 10am appointment for the following week to have someone come out and take a look at my sofas that needed to be cleaned. About 10 minutes before my appointment, they called to say the rep would be on her way between 10-11am. When I reminded them that we had a 10am appt., they said that she would be there ASAP. About 10 minutes later, I got a call from the owner who said that he would quote the job on the phone, asked me to measure the sofas myself and then was extremely pushy about setting up an appointment to clean the sofas. When I told him that I was on the other line with a business call, he kept talking and pressuring me to set up an appointment time. I tried my best to get him off the phone, but eventually had to be somewhat rude and practically hang up on him. I ended up calling Bobcat Upholstery (which got a very high rating on Angie's List) and spoke with a very helpful woman. Although they are more expensive, I am confident that they will do a better job and plan to hire them after the first of the year.
Description of Work: I only received a quote from them, but I will not use them.
