We were very pleased. He was professional and took steps to keep the area clean. His costs were fair and what he had quoted. There were no surprises. I definitely recommend Scott and will use him again.
Description of Work: Scott installed some replacement pendant lights in the kitchen. Our new lights were quite a bit heavier so he took the extra steps to reinforce them. He also rewired another light to a different circuit and fixed our broken doorbell (which he noticed when he arrived).

I have used Scott many times in the past. His work is exceptional. A licensed electrical contractor. His prices are very reasonable. The quality of his work drew praise from the electrical inspector who checked the new 200 amp breaker panel installed. He takes extra care when running cabling thru walls to minimize damage and does a great job of patching what little damage is done. I cannot recommend Scott enough! (I have no connection with Scott except as a happy customer).
Description of Work: ran electric service from breaker panel across yard to location of fountain. Required great deal of trenching to bury conduit. Previously installed new 200 amp breaker panel and new sub-panel in garage of primary home. Previously completely rewired rental house. Previously installed numerous small jobs around primary home.

We asked Scott to install a WGWood in-the-wall cabinet. Scott can handle the unexpected - and you don't know what you will find when you open the wall of an older home. He aligned the cabinet perfectly - and took the opportunity to add another electric wire down that wall bay for future use. (The cabinet would prevent future access to that bay.) Scott has done work for us before (He has rewired our entire older home, inside and out, setting the stage for interior remodeling). So we don't hesitate to call him for electrical, or drywall work. He is a perfectionist - even vertically lining up wall plate screws. His wire work is beautiful to look at, he cleans up his work areas, but is not hesitant to get dirty when needed. After we had our home repiped, we called him in to inspect BEFORE the walls were closed - he identified problems that needed to be corrected. He is a total professional - knowledgeable, good communicator, a real value for services rendered! I"m a little tardy in entering this review - but Scott deserves it - and we are about to have him do some more work for us.
Description of Work: Installed an in-the-wall cabinet - adding an additional electrical line in that bay before wall closure.

Scott did a excellent job. Everything he did was done with care and it shows. I am very confident in the electric he has done for us. This is the second time we have hired Scott for electric (before was at our old house). His attention to detail while framing was excellent to see after a the previous framers were very much like, and quot;as sure good enough.and quot; His drywall looks excellent with very clean lines and he was very careful when hanging to fix anything which would cause future drywall problems.
Description of Work: Scott did a lot for us. He rewired our entire kitchen for a remodel, wired the bedrooms for ceiling fans, and added a conduit for our entertainment center. He also did a large amount of drywall work and some insulation. He also helped us repair a wall that was not framed correctly by our original framer (after having them try to fix it twice).

I called Scott on a Saturday, he had a full day of work scheduled, however said he would come over immediately after finishing. He arrived when he said he would which was around 9:00 PM and quickly uncovered the issue and additionally informed me of other electrical code violations and safety issues regarding work another electrician had done. Scott had completed the tasks as we had discussed within the time frame we agreed upon. I have used many contractors over the years and Scott would be at the top of the list based on knowledge, professionalism, quality of work and value pricing.
Description of Work: Scott came out to address an electrical short issue in the kitchen.

Overall, the work was performed in a very professional manner. Scott spoke with me on the phone, sent an written estimate, and we spoke again to schedule a time. He arrived on time, went right to work, and also advised me on other design ideas for improving the house when asked for his professional opinion. Since he has worked on many homes, he had several excellent suggestions for upgrading my home that I am seriously considering doing in the next year or so. Scott worked long hours to complete the job within the estimated time-frame and finished within two days, as estimated.
Description of Work: Scott moved a chandelier to a new location, installing a new light box, several new fuses in the house's electrical box (converting one to a different level of power), installed new lighting and fans in two bathrooms with venting in the attic to the outside, four new stacked light switches, two safety outlets, and 6 fire alarms throughout the house. He repaired the drywall and acoustic ceiling where the chandelier had previously been. Overall, the quality of the work was excellent and is guaranteed for life. The acoustic ceiling was later removed by another company that Scott referred me to and the area Scott patched with drywall was perfectly smooth and blended with the rest of the ceiling as though there had never been a light box there before. Scott's work is far superior to most electrician that I have seen as he even finds errors that others have done and fixes them. He found that one light box in the dining room had wires that were emitting too much heat so he investigated and found that the wiring done by another electrician about 20 years ago wasn't to code! He fixed it quickly and went on to finish the rest of the work. Scott left the work areas very clean, gave me a concise written estimate, and was very professional. I appreciated that he was licensed and bonded (self insured) since electrical work itself can be dangerous at times as well as anytime someone is on a ladder or using power tools. Without bonding, the homeowner is at risk financially if someone suffers an injury while working on their home so I am always relieved to find professionals who have the courtesy of providing their own insurance. I am very happy with the electrical work that was completed and highly recommend this electrician and drywall specialist. It was great to hire someone who works for themselves rather than a large contracting company because I believe in supporting small business owners.

Scott performed very well, on budget and on time. My personal observation is that Scott is very meticulous about the quality of his work. My observations were confirmed by the building inspector who signed off on the permit. The inspector was very impressed with the quality of Scott's work, both technically and aesthetically (neatly routed wiring). This was in keeping with my impressions from the initial interview with Scott. Scott took care in routing wiring to minimize wall damage. Other contractors I interviewed took the position of greater damage for the sake of their convenience and speed. Scott obtains almost all of his business by referral, not Angie's list. His hourly rates are very competitive, even low, compared to larger contractors but his philosophy is that he makes and quot;enoughand quot; and sees no reason to get greedy. Admitedly, his hourly rate has decreased these past few years due to general construction slow-down, but even his earlier rate was a bargain. Obviously, being a one-man shop, he is not as quick as a large crew might be but his quality work and bargain rates more than compensate for the slightly longer project time. I heartly recommend Scott for electrical contracting work.
Description of Work: Scott replaced our existing 100 amp electric service with a 200 amp box. We will be using Scott again for additional significant electrical work. I looked at several A-rated contractors from Angie's List but decided to try Scott Strunk even though he only had a few reviews. After speaking with Scott I got a good feeling about his work ethic and skills. He was also the only contractor I interviewed that suggested alternate methods of achieving my desired result. Other contractors just took my "wish list" and bid it without attempting to educate me about other possible ways to achieve my goal. Scott's suggestions should resulted in significantly less cost to me while achieving the same goal of upgrading my home electrical system from the current poorly designed and overloaded system to a well-balanced system.

Scott is an expert and perfectionist. Working with electrical, he is comfortable opening and closing walls and will identify problems rather than "cover them up". Before he started, he identified re-pipe plumbing corrections that were needed. The plumber was notified and the corrections were made. He uses top quality materials, eg. greenboard, and uses screws rather than nails to secure his work. With the walls opened, he added missing electrical grounds, added an attic transformer, new outlets and installed a recessed shelf unit. Then closed up the walls and stucco.
Description of Work: Work included; electrical (indoor and outdoor), drywall, stucco, installation of recessed magazine rack. While we had our walls opened, as a result of a copper re-pipe, we called Scott to upgrade outlets, grounds and other electrical oddities that were uncovered. (This is an old house.) And then "close up" the walls. Scott also provided value by identifying plumbing problems that needed resolution, prior to his "close up".

Scott takes pride in clean work, places wires in attics and walls, so your house doesn't end up with lots of unnecessary exterior conduits etc. So we were glad to have him do the electrical preparation.
Description of Work: In preparation for a whole house air conditioner installation: Installed 3/4" metal flex conduit through the attic from the A/C unit site to a dedicated breaker in our service panel; Installed disconnect switch on exterior wall and repaired stucco.

Job 1: Installed new Square-D 200 Amp service panel in new location, converting our old 100 Amp service panel to a junction box. (Our house is 1959 vintage.) With great attention to detail: all work was strongly braced; existing holes were reused; wires were installed/rerouted in neat and clear paths; dry wall patches were smoothed and textured under a side light; conduits were anchored securely in the attic and under the house (crawl space). And as we observed the fine work, we kept adding projects: add dimmer switch; add interior and exterior outlets; rewire and relocate sprinkler timer box; reroute "wandering" satellite and low voltage cables properly into the house, through the attic and walls; add timed garage sconce lights. It was both informative and enjoyable to watch him work with such care and expertise. It is well worth waiting to get on his work schedule. Job 2: Scott has done work for us in the past, so we were not surprised at his careful and expert work, using industrial strength components. We didn't get an initial estimate, because we didn't know what he would "uncover", and it was "little" stuff for him.
Description of Work: Job 1: Upgraded our 100 Amp service panel by installing a new 200 Amp service panel in a new location (converting the old 100 Amp panel to a junction box) and brought existing electrical up to code. This included: adding AFCI breakers for the bedroom circuits; adding GFI outlets; rewiring the entire garage with new 50 Amp service panel; adding new junction boxes for future requirements. Plus (see details). ($10400) Job 2: Labor and materials to: 1) install GFI protected outlet on exterior wall (removing old conduit and patching stucco wall) 2) separate landscape lighting into three zones 3) correct old jumble of outdoor boxes and switches 4) install motion sensor floodlight, connecting in attic. ($1400)
