Bryan was a big help. He was always prompt in any communication, either answering his phone or in getting back to my voicemail. And he always showed up when he said he would. It was great that he had a plumber working with him so I didn't have to coordinate one. Unfortunately, we had another contractor at the house working on something else the first 2 days Bryan was there so it got a little chaotic. But I really appreciated how Bryan worked around him and even with him. Thanks Bryan!
Description of Work: We had a leak behind the tub/shower wall. Bryan tore out the old tiled walls and retiled the shower. He also had a plumber come in and install new plumbing fixtures and raise the showerhead. Then he tiled a full backsplash in the kitchen.

Response from B.W. Tile and Sons Inc.
I did receive a message and returned the call later that day. I left her a message since it went to voice mail. Being upfront and honest I informed her that I was booked for about 6 weeks. I do my best to inform customers of the time frame we are looking at.

Bryan was very professional, easy to work with. He really knows his business and made several helpful suggestions. Bryan also coordinated the granite installation, and brought a plumber when we were ready to put in the new sink faucet. So, he actually acted as the GC. Price was broken down for all parts of the job, and money was not due until that portion of the job was completed. Even after we had the granite, sink and faucet, it was a delay of several weeks for him to come back to put in the tile back splash. I had trouble locating a trim in black (had to be finished on top).I thought I'd found one, and the company ordered the wrong trim (it was actually unfinished on the top surface, so could not be used as a border.) I spent a couple of useless hours on State College Ave., going to tile places, to find they were not interested in helping someone with just a small order---it was very frustrating. I do not suggest doing that. There is a very well stocked tile place right in Huntington Beach, called "Stone and Ceramic Surfaces" on Commercial St. They ordered me the right trim, and I had several to choose from. The result was that Bryan had scheduled other jobs because I was not ready for him, and we had to re-schedule several times. But he was very flexible and was able to fit in the work within days of delivery of the tile trim. He did a great job, is a positive person, and knows his stuff. I would not hesitate to recommend him for installation of tile.
Description of Work: Demo and haul off existing tile in kitchen. 8" backsplash with full tile behind cooktop area.

Bryan is 150% reliable. He came to my house, provided an estimate, recommended additional replacement of subflooring (this is a 60 year old duplex in Newport Heights) which has made a difference in insulation due to crawl space underneath. He did exactly what he said he would do, when he said he could do it and checked up afterwards. He even met me at the building supply store to make sure I got the right quantity and supplies. I cannot say enough good things about Bryan - he delivered on everything. He's local to the Costa Mesa/Huntington Beach/OC in general and his prices are reasonable.
Description of Work: redid all the flooring in my kitchen & bathroom including the subfloor which he recommended to replace and provide additional insulation. Went with me to buy the flooring and make sure we got the right product

First of all, Bryan was one of the best contractors we have ever had work on our home. From the outset, he was always very responsive, punctual and his professionalism was well appreciated. He continually corresponded to us regarding any question or clarification he/we needed, which resulted in a completed job that exceeded our expectations. He had very good design eye and his attention to detail was well appreciated. We highly recommend Bryan and will contact him again with future work at our home.
Description of Work: Bryan installed stone and tile within one of our bathrooms, and his involvement commenced from a partially completed bath in the drywall/framing phase. He had to make numerous adjustments to the badly constructed drywall/framing by a previous contractor we chose to not continue on our project.

Bryan did an amazing job on our shower. We had the river rock base, white subway tile up the walls and a glass and marble tile up at the top and it all looks wonderful! Bryan responded to me the fastest of any of the tile people I called on Angie's list, and I am so glad we went with him. He was on time and very prompt every day, and was very professional and clean. I would absolutley recomend him to anyone needing a small or large tiling job. We had three very different products used in our shower and all three look seemless and it was exactly as I described to him and had pictured in my head! I will 100% give him a call when we re-do our other bathroom and/or our kitchen.
Description of Work: Tiled a brand new custom shower and base. The base was river rock, up the walls was the standard white subway tile and at the top there was a border of the mosaic glass and marble tiles. The subway tiles also wrapped the top of a small half wall and down outside the shower and a few rows out to the floor, butting up against the bamboo floors we had laid.

I contacted several tile setters/flooring experts and also did some research myself on the internet because of the potential problems inherent installing tile on wood floors with raised foundations. One person I contacted couldn't imagine why I would want to remove the 3/8" pressed board. This is where my research on the internet came in handy; pressed board is a very spongy material composed of sawdust mixed with a binding substance (like glue) to make it hard. But since it is just pressed together, it is softer than wood and tends to warp and bend and can be damaged by moisture. This is okay for linoleum coverings, but could be a disaster for tile. The best way to install tile over a wood subfloor is to remove all layers down to the 2"x6" tongue and groove. This meant that the tile/floor person would have to work with the kitchen contractor and be able to come to the job site once all the old cabinets, etc., were removed; and then perform his demo of the existing pressed board and linoleum down to the subfloor, without interfering with the primary contractor workers upgrading the kitchen ceiling etc. Bryan was very aware of the proper method of laying tile on a wood subfloor and was willing to be on call to demo the existing press board and linoleum flooring, when it wouldn't interfere with the primary kitchen contractor's progress. Bryan also had to install his hardibacker board throughout the bare kitchen floor area in a manner that didn't interfere with the kitchen contractor's progress as well as install the tile according to a schedule that was provided by the prime. Bryan performed in a very professional and competent manner and actually finished his tile installation 3 days ahead of the schedule provided. He willingly worked over the week-end in order to not pose a hindrance to the prime's progress. The limestone tile installation using the "standard Versailles pattern" was completed and looks beautiful. The floor feels very stable and I don't expect any issues arising from this installation. I heartily recommend Bryan Witte to anyone looking for a professional who takes great pride in his work and really knows what he is doing. PS: After my wife finally found the tile type and color that satisfied her needs, this after several weeks of looking, Bryan was able to find it for us at another tile dealer 20% cheaper.
Description of Work: The primary work to be accomplished involved installation of limestone tile on a raised foundation (subfloor composed of 2" by 6" fir tongue and groove flooring on which 3/8 inch pressed board was stapled to the subfloor and several layers of linoleum on top of that). The limestone tile work was a portion of a much larger and more expensive kitchen remodeling effort, being performed by a separate kitchen remodeling contractor who didn't "know how to bid the floor". So I was left in a position of trying find a tile setter and floor person who understood the problems associated with placing tile on a wood subfloor that tends to be "bouncy". "Bouncy" is the enemy of tile, because if the floor does not remain rigid the grout cracks and tiles will eventually break up. The only way to install tile on a wood subfloor is to first remove all existing material down to the subfloor and then prepare the subfloor with "thinset" on which hardibacker(cement board) can be laid. This when properly installed isolates the tile from the sub-floor allowing for a stable surface to install the tile. {The hardibacker can be attached to the subfloor using screws or roofing nails.) Once that is installed the next step is to lay the tile on the hardibacker board using "thinset" again (this is a cement based mixture that glues the tile to the hardibacker).
