Scott quickly analyzed the problem and discovered that an outdoor outlet in our front entry way was the culprit. He quickly replaced the old outdoor outlet with a modern unit that is rated for outdoors, and addressed a couple of issues with the older outlets in the living room--now everything is working. Scott was indicated he would be at our house at 730am, showed up 10 minutes early, was professional, explained the situation once discovered, described what needed to be done--all at a fair price. I would highly recommend Berryhill Electrical and will use them again if needed.
Description of Work: Four outlets in our living room went out last December, and after resetting the circuit breaker, seemed to work. Two weeks ago, all four outlets went out again, and this time resetting the circuit breakers did not solve the problem.

Extremely well. Scott is absolutely professional in his work and interactions. Quotes are given in advance and the work is completed in a high quality manner. The workspace was left very clean. We would not hesitate to call on him again for future work.
Description of Work: Scott replaced the under cabinet lighting system we had that was no longer working. It was installed by someone else and did not work properly. We also had upgrade work to be done with other electrical fixtures connected to a garage remodel.

Everything went well. Scott knows his stuff and I would hire him again for future electrical work. He also kept in touch regarding time line of SoCal Edison & city inspector arrival dates. The only time delay of work is having a city inspector come out to review the panel (your at the mercy of city time schedule). Price was really not bad if you have an understanding of all work involved from start to finish.
Description of Work: Upgraded old 50A house service panel to 200A. Also installed 60A 240V/120V garage sub-panel for wood working equipment.

They kept a close eye on the watch and I felt they didn't accomplish as much as I was hoping. I know that since it's a finished home, there were additional steps that need to be taken. They used a dowel like tool to punch holes looking for spots to run the electrical wires, that I had never seen before. I was left so full of big/uneven holes and even chipping into the wooden joists. They stated that it was pre-existing and they hadn't done it. My contractor, confirmed that it was from them looking for the studs. There were no 2 wholes that were consistent. I was never informed an assistant would be present as well, which cut the time to 4 hours. They did vacuum up most of the dust and debris. Even pushed by bed back but not my other bedroom furniture. So, I had to replace them on my own. The plugs and switches do work. They do know how to do their job but they seemed sloppy. If he had called me to complain I was thinking of umping his rating a notch but after I became quite ill from the dust he left (urgent care visit) I was no longer willing. I had notified him when he walked in the that I Had Asthma and I would be willing to set up 2 extra air filters. No response. To anyone who is actually reading this review please know I love Angie's List and have never before had a referral that wasn't wonderful. This is a first for me, I am a working artist who has worked a lifetime learning to stand up for what is right for me.
Description of Work: I had a special offer for: $472 for an Electrician for a Day. He brought an assistant, the moved one outlet plug to the other end of the wall. They changed a rocker switch and 3-4 plugs in my bedroom.

Response from Berryhill Electrical Contracting
Dear Customer, I would like to explain exactly how the Job went. The deal that was actually purchased was for 8 hours for Electrician or 4 hours for two electricians. We were there a little over the 4 hours, and we were very generous with the time. Also, I would like to address the current work that was done previously by another contractor. There was a plate cover that was located in the closet where we needed to run the new wire and get rid of the old outlet, which would include leaving holes to be patched. Also, the stud was all chewed up, because of the previous work that was done by another contractor that was hired to do the work. We fixed the errors with the wiring, which took extra time. I would like to state once again that I had to go the extra mile to correct previous work that was done by a contractor who I had nothing to do with. The furniture was pushed back into place, but because of how much furniture was located in the Home, it was very difficult to move all of it where the work was done. Regarding the holes the was left un-patched, the customer stated that she was having a painter come the next day to Paint and Patch the holes where we needed to run wire. My company always provide a patch guy yet she once again she stated that she was going to have her own guy come in to patch the holes. We did our best to do as much of the work we could within the boundaries of the deal. The proper tools were used to do the work, which was a drywall saw. If you, the customer, were dissatisfied with something that you thought was not resolved then you could of called me and we could of easily resolved the issue by a simple phone call. However, I am professional and definitely willing to be fair. I also explained in detail that we would need to cut holes before we started. I always make sure the customer is fully informed of the work we are doing. I always do my best to keep our customers happy and I go the extra mile to work hard in every job I work on.

Went well. The fan was a bit of a struggle due to curved ceiling and odd size. Also, Scott and his associate (Adam, I think), stopped off around 8 AM to give a bid, then finished another small job elsewhere, came back with the parts later same day and did my job. Parts and Labor were about 60-40 -- not counting running around to get parts -- so good work and very good price for two pros. And, they were fastidiously clean. He is now definitely my default electrician.

They were very professional and gave recommendations where they were needed They were communicative, punctual and there wasn't any pushy upselling. They did an excellent job. I totally recommend Berryhill and they are my choice for any future electrical needs.
Description of Work: Berryhill Electric was a vendor for an Angie's List Special, an Electrician for 8 hours. I asked them to replace approximately 10 - 15 outlets and switches that were defective. I also had them replace a damaged smoke detector that was wired to the house. I now have smoke and CO detectors and GFI outlets where needed.

Scott & his partner were on time and were able to get in and service us within a day which was appreciated; however, when it came to installing the tract lighting above the product shelves his professional knowledge in the electrical field lacked. He didn't offer any suggestions of placement (we told him what our goal was to aim the lighting down towards the product on the shelves). As a professional electrician who does this type of work every day he could have suggested placement of the tract for optimal lighting. He performed the work during the day so it was hard to tell where the light was shining until nighttime. Once we could see clearly where the light was shining, he had installed the tract directly above the product shelves so the shelves were casting shadows upon the product. When we called him back to ask if he could come back and make this right, he blamed us and was very rude & said that it would be an addtl $200 to come back to move the lighting over. He has terrible customer service & we would never recommend him to anyone. After finding him on Angie's list and seeing the nice reviews he had, we are sad to have experienced this with his business.
Dear Customer, We are sorry that you feel that you had a bad experience with us, as we try to provide the best service we can. So that my customers will understand what truly took Place, We did let you know where to Place the Fixture Before it was Installed, and also You had Tied your Boss by FaceTime to Approve the Location. Also, I had called a left a message after your boss had asked to move the Tract light over, and said I would be happy to move it for Free. You called me back and said that I should make it right and said you didn't get a message about moving the fixture over, and then exclaimed that to make it right Before you put the review on Angies List, I should move it for Free. In this way using the review process to threaten me, instead of just simply being professional about the process and asking me to move it. I actually apologized to this customer and told them I would move the fixture for Free. Our Company only Provides suggestions, and we have to get Approval before installing any Product. What could have resolved the Problem with the installation, was that the owner was actually there in Person to see the placement then, everybody would have been happy. Our company desires provide the best customer service. Reviews like this one will help us to be better equipped for Giving quality Service.

Everything went great. We're going to have them come back and install ethernet in our offices as well as their drywall guy to come and help patch the holes.
Description of Work: We had a sensor light in the closet that went rogue and regardless of what we tried to fix, it would only dim or turn on at random hours. Eventually it just wouldn't turn off, so we made the decision to rid of the senor light and switch to a normal light. We also installed vanity lights that look great and they helped fix a number of smaller issues around the house.

In one conversation with Scott, my fears were eased and I became fairly confident Scott was the perfect person for my bathroom job. After listening to me describe what I had been experiencing, Scott quoted me for a solution including materials he offered to acquire directly from Home Depot to make my life easier. He was informative, understood the various parameters causing the issue, and above all, very friendly. We set a date where my girlfriend was available to meet and allow him in. He showed, on time, and quickly diagnosed the problem and within a couple hours worth of work had completed the repair at the quoted amount. I couldn't be happier with Scott's service. He called right after to offer an explanation to the problem I had with my bathroom light and even provided advice to manage my recessed lighting more efficiently. He installed a new bulb which required less wattage and would save electricity moving forward, leaving the bulb's package on my dining table to again, make my life easier. I look forward to the next "challenge" I have for Scott and Berryhill Electric.
Description of Work: The challenge I experienced as a first-time homeowner is replacing or repairing various areas of the household which hadn't worked for years including the bathroom light which flickered on and off until it turned itself off. I researched, read, and watched video about the possible solution. Replaced the light fixture, bulb, and fidgeted with the light switch. All to no avail. I figured this repair would be very expensive. Finally, I decided to make an Angie's List account and contact several Electrical Contractor's and "bite the bullet". Only one was responsive, following up with not only a written message, but also a phone call. Scott with Berryhill Electrical Contracting.

The job went great. New panel works and looks great. This upgraded panel was much larger than our previous panel so he also had his stucco guy come and patch up which also looks good. He also installed an electrical line for our dryer that we thought was already installed but wasn't. Definitely will hire him again for any electrical jobs we have (and we already have more work scheduled with him). Highly recommended Scott.

I called Scott based on his proximity and his reviews. He answered my very first call politely. I told him what needs to be done. Gave me a quote that is very reasonable, so I set the appointment up (two days after our call). About 45 minutes before the set time, he called to let me know that he will most likely arrive at around 45 min to an hour later, as his prior project took longer than he expected. No problem. I liked that he called to let me know. When he arrived, he was very pleasant. He gave me his card, I showed him the room, and he went on to work immediately. It only took him about 30 minutes. I looked at his work and it was neatly done. No mess or anything. Dimmers worked perfectly. I would hire him again.

I hired them to install a ceiling fan. Scott was great but his assistant was rushing the job. I didn't asked for the dimmers to be installed agreed to get them because they work better with ceiling fans I was told. I was not happy with getting extra work done with the dimmers and the rushing to get the work installed. I don't think this would have been a problem if Scott stayed to supervise the work. He wasn't as clean after he started to rush, I had some dings in the wall next to the dimmer outlets. They pricing was very excellent and reasonable. Scott was very knowledgeable on the work. I wish they would have told me they didn't have time, they could have just came back to do the dimmers. I later notice the breaker box was left own after I left.

Hello Customer, We actually did not install dimmers which will not work on Ceiling Fans, but we did actually installed ceiling remote switches. In which, while working at the residence it was agreed after she had checked with her husband to install the switches, Also after starting the work we found alot of problems with wiring because it was done by an unlicensed handyman. We had to go back and repair all these problems, which took extra time. Also we were careful around the walls in which there were no dings left on them. The work was completely supervised and done Professionally, to the best we could. She also received a great deal on the work as she got all the new LED bulbs for the 3 Ceiling Fans Free of Charge. We went out of our way to take good care of this customer. Also the address that is on the Review page that the customer Left is also Incorrect.
