Description of Work: THe provider helped to solve my refrigerator problem on the phone and didn't need to make the house call. He seemed amazingly knowledgable and truly didn't want me to have to spend the money unnecessarily. He encouraged two phone calls from me to troubleshoot the problem. We both determined that a home visit was unnecessary. He told me what to do to fix the problem. Who does that?!? This company is now my "go to" provider for large and small appliance issues. Thanks, Angie, and A-1!!!

Description of Work: On 2/22/13 my giant refrigerator was pouring out water from the freezer compartment into the lower section. John knew the problem and explained both the problem and the repair as he proceeded to fix it. I really liked that. He took the entire freezer apart and thawed the frozen parts with hot water. It now operates like new. He also cheerfully did extra work to provide a temporary fix for my washer level-detector dial which had dropped off in my hand. With glue and tape he created a temporary fix enabling me to use it. The part number required for future ordering when required was noted on the bill. I had complete trust in his honesty and experience. He worked 1 hour and 15 minutes non-stop and charged $135. Best money I ever spent!

+ -1 moreA gas company employee verified that the gas smell was coming from our 3 year old GE stove top. All four burner valves were leaking. I called A-1 Appliance Service because of the great reviews on Angie's List. I was NOT disappointed. Jon from A-1 came out a few hours after my call and verified the problem. He helped me order the parts online to get the best deal and came back when the parts came in. His service charges for both trips plus the labor for the repair totalled only $105 and he spend a lot of time doing the repair. This guy genuinely cares about your pocket book and is a true professional. A rare find. Great service, great price. I would definitely use A-1 Appliance Service again.
Description of Work: Diagnosed gas leak in stove. Replaced all four gas valves.

Description of Work: John arrived about 15 minutes early and had my dryer repaired in less than 30 minutes. He also evaluated a refrigerator and stove in a second home we own nearby, and did not charge the travel fee because it was in the same neighborhood. He's looking for a gasket for the 20-year-old refrigerator.

+ -1 moreTook about 15 minutes. I like to watch repairs (my dad was a repairman) and Larry explained everything he was doing, showed me the parts. He tested it after he finished, by filling the machine with water and running the agitator. Then asked if I wanted to save the water to do a load of wash. He was friendly and professional. I'll call him again, if the need arises.
Description of Work: Repaired the upper agitator in my washing machine. Took it apart, greased what needed to be greased and then replaced the 'dogs' in the agitator.

+ -1 moreI phoned on a Friday morning and the engineer came out to me before noon. He spent a couple of hours cleaning the refrigerator filter and diagnosing the problem with poor cooling. I was very pleased with his thoroughness and quality of work, as well as the prompt response to my call.

He said he couldn't come out that day, but he had time available the next day that he offered and we set something up for the following day. He was here right when he said. He asked me if I had any questions or if I needed him to have him look at anything. At the end he asked me to call if there were any problems with the dryer. He was very friendly without making me feel like he wanted more money.
Description of Work: He fixed my dryer. There was no heat and he fixed it.

I was amazed as he actually showed me every step of the repair process and parts needed for replacement. He explained all work in detail. A-1 Appliance Service Company had the lowest estimate too. I would use them again and most highly recommend them!!!
Description of Work: They replaced a drive coupler assembly; washer machine was not able to spin, loud noise. In a very short amount of time the washer machine was fixed and running. In addition, at my request, they checked out my wall mount oven; minor gas leak; Tests performed with hand held unit to verify leak area. All connectors retightened and oven now squared away.

+ -1 moreI called A-1 Appliance Service yesterday afternoon, explained my problem and was told that a serviceman could come out the next morning to check it out. The serviceman, Larry, called 15 min. prior to our appt. and stated that he was on his way. When he arrived, he was courteous and professional and discovered the problem within 5 minutes. He had the part needed in his truck and replaced the faulty defrost control in 20 minutes and was on his way. He advised me that if we had any problems with the refrigerator in the next 30 days, he would return free of charge to check out any problems.
Description of Work: Built-in Kitchen Aid refrigerator stopped cooling and freezing and was making a loud, annoying humming sound.

MOST OF THE TIME HE CAN FIX IT. IN SOME CASES, LIKE MY ICE MACHINE WHICH WAS UNDER WARRANTY, HE LETS ME KNOW THAT I COULD USE MY WARRANTY RATHER THAN HIM CHARGING ME. HE'S VERY HONEST ABOUT THINGS LIKE THAT.
