This review is long overdue...it was an all day job, but all went well. They got the permit and coordinated with PG&E and the Concord inspector before and at the end of the job. They arrived about 7:30 a.m. and the electricity was back on at 6:00 p.m. when PG&E was able to come back a little over an hour after the job was finished. Only one issue came up during the job, but was resolved at our mutual satisfaction at no extra cost. Jothi is stress-free to deal with, and very honest and knowledgeable. This is one of very few contractors I will keep using and have absolutely no worries about it! They'll be back this year - two ceiling fans have failed.

I was so happy with that man, if I could adopt him and keep him I would. They showed up on time, I was really pleased. My son is going to call them for work at his home.

Would probably not hire again. Was hard to nail down as to went to come back to finish job. Job took several weeks that could have been finished in one or two days, he kept taking new jobs and leaving. Apprentice did majority of the work thought price was going to be less than others but turned out to be the same

Jothi is fair with his prices and does excellent work and explains everything well in as much or as little detail as you would like. He is very friendly, punctual, and efficient. Thank you!

The entire experience was great. The fixture was changed out and the new one was set up exactly as I wanted it. There were no hassles, and everything was done for the price I was quoted. And for whatever reason, Jothi was the only electrician who called me back of the four I tried, and I'm glad that he did.
Description of Work: I was having an issue with my kitchen ceiling light, where CFL bulbs were being blown out in a year or less. I had Jothi come out to advise me on what may be the issue and the solution. He was honest with me that if it had been a circuitry issue that other things would have been affected, and he did not advise trying to troubleshoot the issue because it would take too much time to likely determine that it was a bulb or fixture issue. And then, because I had issues even finding the right bulbs for the fixture, I scheduled his team to come out and change my fixture. They did that and fix a loose wall switch.

We had Redwood Electric come out to provide a quote for a number of small electrical issues. Jothi was very nice, gave us a quote, and said he'd get back to us with a date to do the work. But he never followed up to schedule, unfortunately. He did say they were very busy, but I wish he'd told us they didn't have time, rather than leave us hanging.

I had received another bid for this work and I thought it was high so went with Jothi. Turned out he was just as expensive and much of the work was done by his apprentice. Work was done over at least 3 visits and they made mess each time. He decided he could not do the full job at this time...as I wanted recessed lights in kitchen as well. These never got installed and he actually let the supplies for these lights in my garage after asking me if he could store them here. It has been over a month and he has not called to schedule install of recess lighting even though supplies are here. Guess they are mine now. I would not recommended Redwood Electric as each time Jothi, the owner , would come and do some of the work, then he would receive call and go to another job never finishing my work. Seemed like he was just fitting me in between other jobs and it didn't feel good or work for me. Seems like a nice guy but apprentice is slow and work was done so slowly I would not recommend to others in need of electrical work.
Description of Work: Installed new outlets and switch plates throughout house. Installed chandelier in master bedroom, installed new light fixture in dining room and hallway. Relocated comcast cable in master bedroom and installed new cable in second bedroom. Relocated outlets in kitchen

They were great. I could not recommend them more highly. He went above and beyond the two days he was here. They were very clean and prompt. I wish I could have them do other jobs for me.
Description of Work: They did a great job for me. They put in 6 recessed lights in the kitchen with a dimmer switch. They replaced an switch box that was no longer working. They put in a vanity light in the bathroom that I had purchased. They went into the attic to fix a attic fan that had stopped working.

Redwood was the fourth electrician to give me an estimate. Jothi was the ONLY electrician who offered to install the light fixtures by the glass sliding doors without cutting holes along the walls inside the living room to install the wiring. He and his assistant fished the wires under the crawl space and up inside the walls so when the work was done there was no patching needed along the walls. And his estimate was less expensive than the others who wanted to make all that mess!! The others wanted to charge more for fixing the subpanel and stated some other work was needed that I researched and found unnecessary, which Jothi confirmed. He is professional, quick, communicates well, and saved me a lot of trouble by not cutting up my walls inside which would have required another contractor to patch. I would certainly recommend Jothi and use him again. Very honest and trustworthy guy! He's very busy and we rescheduled the estimate visit a few times, but the day of the job he was right on time and worked quickly. I'm extremely happy with the outcome. The rescheduling of the estimate visits was not a problem; he rescheduled quickly and he was worth waiting a few days for! One of the few contractors who completed a job without leaving problems or having to come back.
Description of Work: Inspect installations in attic of 8 various types of ceiling fans previously installed and/or existing throughout house/attic.Replace two sets of breakers in subpanel to fix improper wiring and apply compound to aluminum wires.Installed light outside door from garage to backyard.Install two light fixtures outside back sliding glass doors where no lights existed.

In addition to the job as described, Redwood Electric also did a couple of small things above and beyond the call of duty: * When I unpacked one fan delivered by the manufacturer, a vent had been damaged in shipment and the fan blades could not turn freely. I was ready to send it back, but Redwood Electric said they'd fix it for no extra cost. It took them 10-15 minutes to fix it (they pounded-out the vent sheet metal) and when done the fan worked perfectly. I am impressed they threw in the extra task at no charge and saved me a big hassle. * When installing the metal inserts for one of the ceiling vents, initially one was somewhat cocked to one side, i.e. it didn't line up with the nearby wall. The installer realigned it and I said and quot; That looks good to meand quot;, but he wanted to adjust it a bit more. He did and I couldn't tell any difference, but he showed me the measurements to the wall were now right-on rather than very slightly off. I am impressed he spent an extra 5 minutes to do it right.
Description of Work: Redwood Electric installed 2 whole house fans for me. They did an excellent job installing the two fans in the attic. I wanted each fan to be independent of the other, so each fan had 1 vent into my living area and 1 on-off switch per my request. Now on warm summer days when it starts cooling down outside, I turn off my air conditioner and turn on 1 or both fan(s) and it cools my place very nicely.

Redwood did an excellent job from start to finish. Jothi, the owner, personally performed the work. He showed up on time and was flexible with respect to schedule including being open to changes that arose. Attention was paid to detail: care was taken to be minimally invasive in locating the transformer short. Additionally, circuits were tested before an GFI circuits were installed. Work was well planned to accomadate members of the household. Additons to the work were done with adequate changes to the schedule. This included adding two outdoor circuits and installation of an over-ride switch for the attic gable fan. Jothi is easy to work with and is very professional and provides alternatives and helpful suggestions to help with energy efficiency and safety and environmental concerns. I would recommend his electrical services.
Description of Work: Redwood Electric completed a number of projects for me. These included electrical repairs, fixes to assure the integrity of electrical safety systems of the home, and improvements made by Redwood over time. A major repair involved the detection and replacement of the small transformer for the front door bell. Because the tranformer was located in the garage, Redwood did an excellent job in tracking the short, which affected all lights and circuits from the door bell to the entry way to the front room and an alcove near the laundry. Redwood to its credit and my delight, corrected this by replacing the transformer once it was identified as the source of the problem. Additionally, electrical security was increased by the tightening of 30-year old circuit breaker wiring, replacement of electric outlets near sinks with GFI safety outlets. Also, all wiring in the garage (lighting, garage door opener) was redone to meet current codes in increase the safety factor. Finally, new, attractive environmentally-frendly lighting was place on both side of the garage, on the front porch, and side of the garage. This also improved the security of the home. The last addition was the installation of a gable fan in the attic to reduce A/C load.
