Hello! My name is Oscar Legaria and I’m the owner of Monk’s Cleaning Service. I’ve been providing top quality housekeeping to Bay Area homes & offices since 1994. My client’s love our attention to detail - an obsession almost like that of the TV character “Monk” (hence the name)! I’m a perfectionist who will not only get your home as clean as possible, but my staff and I will keep it that way! Please contact me for an appointment or an estimate.
Just showed up almost two hours late and they weren't happy that I was upset about their tardiness. Oscar says I'm supposed to be more flexible and be happy they showed up in order for them to work with me. ***!!! No - my time is valuable and to be respected and I do not want a relationship with someone who has the arrogance to tell me that I should be happy they showed up almost two hours late. We spoke on the phone on 10/6/2016 and they agreed to come over to do a tour on Monday, October 10th at 9 AM. They showed up early and did the tour. We discussed a strategy to get things started and set up an appointment for the first of two "deep" cleaning sessions for Saturday 10/15/16 at 11:30 AM. I sent a confirming text message at 9:36 AM on 10/10 and got a positive reply. On 10/15, I got a text at 10:38 AM saying they are running late and would be here at noon if that is ok with me. 30 minutes wasn't great, but workable so I replied "Thank you for letting me know. That will be fine." Then it was silence. At 12:16 PM, 46 minutes late from the original appointment and 16 mintues late from the rescheduled time, asking for an ETA. At 12:28 PM I get a reply saying "On my way from Danville." They show up at approximately 1:20 PM and I am not happy. If they had texted me at 10:38 AM and said - we're running late. Would 1:30PM work? - that would have been fine. I would have been able to run errands and take care of some other business. Instead, I was trapped expecting them any minute. I find the lack of proper scheduling and time management to be a real problem. So yes - I am upset and unhappy. Then the attitude when they arrived late by almost two hours that I should basically be greatful they showed up at all - NO THAT IS NOT OK AND I WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU. I told them good-bye, closed the door and I'm writing this review. On to find the service that will respect me, my time, and wants my $$$.

We have been using Monk's Housecleaning for six weeks now. On their first visit, they performed a deep clean and spent all day cleaning our house. At the end of that day my husband and breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that our messy house was finally under control! We have been having Monk's Housecleaning come to our home every week since that first deep clean, and each week we look over the house to see how they did, checking certain areas to see if anything was overlooked, and I can honestly say, I have not been disappointed once! I signed up for Angie's List with the intention of finding a housecleaner, though I found Monk's Housecleaning from Yelp. So I figured I should add Monk's to Angie's List since I've been so impressed with this housecleaning service. Oscar, the owner, comes by each time with his wife and sometimes another employee, Lucia. Normally with other housecleaners, I have had to leave long lists of things I would like cleaned, but Monk's is so good at what they do that they just clean the house from top to bottom and I haven't once needed to leave a list, if you can believe it. The price was definitely higher than what I have paid housecleaners in the past. I have usually found cleaners through craigslist, but have never been happy with the job that other cleaners have done. Something always got overlooked, or they were really slow, etc. I was reluctant to try Monk's at first because we are on a budget, but when I met with Oscar for a consultation, and he pointed out tiny details like the corners of windowsills or the woodwork on my dining room chairs, baseboards, and other places where he would clean regularly, it was apparent that he had an eye for the small details. So I gave him a try, thinking we could cancel if it didn't seem worth the price. Well, as I said, we are more than happy with his service and the peace of mind of coming home to a spotless house is worth it to my husband and to me. I highly recommend Monk's Housecleaning.
Description of Work: They cleaned our house from top to bottom! Cleaned windowsills, doors, windows, dusted baseboards, cleaned fireplace, vacuumed furniture and rugs, mopped and polished floors, changed linens and made beds, scrubbed bathtub and made faucets sparkle, cleaned inside refrigerator, cleaned oven and made stovetop shine, made all our stainless appliances sparkle and look new, cleaned the blinds, dusted entire house, including very difficult to reach spaces, folded all clean laundry, organized closets, wiped down dining room chairs and dusted in places that people don't usually notice... I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch of things they do, but trust me, they are so so thorough!! Every time I come home after they have cleaned, I check to see if they cleaned certain areas and every week they pass the test! I recommend them wholeheartedly.
