Description of Work: Replaced kitchen counters with granite. Reinstalled oven and fixed poorly installed window in the process as well.

Description of Work: I contacted of a number of Granite countertop fabricators before deciding to go with Golden State Granite to install new granite kitchen countertops. At first the owner seemed very helpful and reasonable in his price but then he began to decide some details of the countertop installation which seemed illogical: having the seam between the pieces of granite right in the middle of the sink. I told him that I didn't want to have this type of installation, but instead of readily agreeing, he insisted he do it that way. Eventually, after I spoke with other fabricators who concurred that this wasn't a good idea, he agreed to do it as I has wished. Then, after all of this, he announced that he wouldn't install the clayfire sink I had purchased (he said he only installs stainless steel sinks). He told me the cabinet maker could install the sink and after that he would come and make his template. This is not the standard for installing a new countertop according to all the granite fabricators I spoke with. By this time I had had it with him and told him I was going to use a different granite countertop fabricator and installer.. Meanwhile, I had purchased the granite we were going to use (I paid for it; he didn't). Unknown to me he had called the granite supply warehouse and, without my authorization, told them to deliver it to his shop, which they did. When I told him that I wasn't going to use his services he told me that to have the granite removed from his shop it would cost $175 per slab (I had 2 slabs); I refused and told him that he was essentially stealing my granite. We finally agreed on an amount for his "time and effort" and I had the slabs removed from his shop. I would definetely not recommend using this granite fabricator.

Description of Work: Mike Lopez provided a list of vendors of granite slabs in the Bay Area for our kitchen renovation. We found a slab to our liking and notified GSG. Mike arranged to have it picked up; had templates of our countertops made; ensured that the slab's characteristics were maximized; and scheduled installation. His crew came on time; fitted the countertops onto the cabinets; installed an under-mount sink; drilled for faucet, sprayer and dishwasher air gap; provided care instructions for the granite; and cleaned up thoroughly. Total cost included the slab (at a discount from that vendor's quote)!

Description of Work: Mike Lopez was recommended by the company I bought the stone from. He was responsible for measuring, fabricating and installing a new kitchen counter top.
