Larry worked for me for six weeks about 30 hours a week helping me refurbish a home that I bought and was making available for rent. I was impressed with his versatility and professional skills. Larry was recommended to me by a friend that I trust. I use Angie's list regularly to get my services, so I was a little hesitant about hiring him. However, I couldn't have been happier with his services and how he handled communications with me. Larry worked closely with me. I told him that I didn't want to spend a lot of money and that the house needed lots of small repairs and sprucing up. I turned the job over to him and, oh my, how great it was to trust him. He went from room to room and thoroughly, and I mean thorougly, fixed all the minor nicks, broken wires, non-sliding windows, patching drywall, repairing door trim and door handles. Near the end of the job, I decided to divide one large room into two so that I could get a third bedroom. He put in a beautiful wall, trimmed out the door, and installed a closet. One neat thing that he did was to take the two old kitchen doors, cut them down to fit, and installed new french doors to the new master bedroom suite! Saving me a lot of money. Very cool. Another thing I like about Larry is that he takes seriously the value of your time. He doesn't answer personal cell phone calls and trys to stay focused on the job. He charged me $20 per hour and I trusted him to keep his own hours. He's an older guy, has his own ideas about things, but will do what you want. If you ask his advice, he'll give it, but he won't impose his ideas. He has worked in the construction business for years installing custom cabinets, and finish carpentry, so he is extremely efficient. Another person might not be as fast as Larry because he knows so many tricks of the trade, which makes him not make as many mistakes as other handymen I have worked with. I was able to rent my house as he was finishing the work. He even was there to let people in to show it. I couldn't have been happier with his work.
