I have to preface this review with, I had no idea what concret work cost before I purchased the special that Angie's List advertised. Tom came out promptly and gave an estimate of what I had already paid for and then an estimate of what I totally wanted. I guess I was a little skepical of the price but it was within my budget and I wanted it done. So I gave the OK and Tom came out when he could and completed in 1 day.
I found Tom to be very professional and likable. He came out when promised and finished the job by the time I got home from work. I was extremely impressed with quality of the Job and can't say enough about the finished product. I would hire him again. I have no regrets.
I'm most impressed how he made the Job, which was not flat, all work and look so good. Thanks again Tom.

This was not a particularly large job, so the complexities were minor.  I am very impressed with the finished quality of the concrete.

I originally contacted Tom with detailed plans on an L shaped pad I needed poured. The plans called for a wood oven, so part of the pad needed to be reinforced with rebar to support upwards of 2000 lbs. Tom provided an original quote of $1100, which I thought was fair. On his followup call, I had to postpone the job because of some unforeseen financial obligations. He was very understanding and didn't pester me to reschedule.
In the interim, I started playing with the design and even started digging out the area for the pad. During that time, I discovered my original plans wouldn't work and so after several revisions (and holes/fill-ins), I came back to a more compact, simpler pad requirement. I emailed Tom the new requirement and he called me within a day to ask more questions and discuss schedules. He initially said he could do it the following Monday, but needed to check his schedule and would call back.
When we talked again, he did say that he had another job that Monday and he probably couldn't do both in the same day. However, he ended up accommodating both of us, so the pad was done by 4:00 that Monday. I think because he said he could do it that day initially, he felt obligated to follow through even if I wasn't pushing him to do so.
The pad came out great - definitely exceeded my expectations. He asked me to clarify the position of the wood oven several times beforehand to be sure he had reinforced that section well enough. The finished product is very nice and was aligned with the fence a few feet away. Because the overall size and complexity was reduced, he ended up reducing the total price although I didn't ask him to do so. Tom is just an honest guy and it shows in how he does business.

I wasn't sure how to repair the retaining wall where the wood was crumbling. H e suggested concrete bricks  for the wall and also replaced a slab of concrete on the patio that had been uprooted by tree roots. He seems to know what he is doing.

I had gone out to bid on this project and had gotten two separate bids for the grading/excavation work and three additional separate bids for the concrete work, none of which in aggregate appealed to me.  I then decided to contact a few more contractors that had gotten good reviews on Angie's list.  Tom was very responsive, meeting me at the job site the next day.  Not only was he able to fit my project into his schedule, but his combined bid for all of the earthwork plus the concrete work was better than any of the previous bids I had gotten.  So I signed the contract that day.
Tom and his crew showed up to begin the work at the time scheduled.  Because I had a fixed date by which the concrete work had to be completed, Tom worked with me every step of the way to meet the time line.  He took his time to do the job right, but not so much time as to jeopardize my schedule.  At the end of every day on the job his crew would make sure to leave behind a clean job site.  Never was there a bunch of trash left laying around like I'd seen on other people's job site.
Ahead of and then throughout the construction process, Tom would make suggestions on how to possibly improve my project.  He also agreed to incorporate changes into the work as recommended by my building contractor.  Some of the changes may have saved Tom a few dollars, whereas others probably added to his cost.  At the end of the day however, Tom not once argued about the original contract value.  This was a very pleasant surprise, considering that most other contractors would have argued over every little change.  I know, as I am an engineer that works in the construction industry.
Now that his work is done, I already plan on hiring him for my next concrete project.

The crew arrived early in the morning and jackhammered existing concrete and dug the walkway path. The concrete chunks were hauled away. After some trouble shooting some really large ,thick tree roots and sprinkler issues the path was staked off and concrete was poured. It truly is a beautiful addition to our home.

First Tom prepared the area with his Bob Cat tractor, which
he is clearly a master at. The crew framed the area and then carefully
put thick plywood down on the driveway to protect the asphalt
driveway from the big, heavy truck of concrete. Then the crew delivered
the concrete to the garage area by the wheelbarrow full. They have a methodical
system that works, and the end result is really beautiful. I really
appreciated their attention to detail and the pains they took to make it perfect.
I would happily use them again and definitely recommend Tom's Concrete.

Concrete walkway - Removed grass and top soil for walkway from curb to house (about 30 feet) prepared subsoil for concrete.
Front of house - 50 year old walkway across front of house, from driveway to front door
Removed existing concrete, widened walkway. New walkway has a slight slope instead of step up from drive to walkway and another step up to front stoop.
Pad off existing Patio - Prepared area for concrete pad, poured concrete , cleaned up after job was done. Job was made more difficult in that an 6 foot tall   Red Wood fence was just off the edge of project. Concrete graves and clean up had to be done by hand .
Concrete for front walkway is “Salt and Pepper’
Patio pad is brush pattern concrete/
Project was completed in one day. Which included preparation, form building, concrete pouring and clean up. Several neighbors complimented Tom on how nice the job looked and the efficiency of the company..

First, our only estimate was from Tom so that's why I didn't rate the price; I had nothing to compare it to.  Though, I felt it was very fair.  My "B" rating for "Responsiveness" is based solely on the fact that it was hard to coordinate with Tom before the estimate. Other than that, Tom was very responsive to scheduling work and our needs and concerns on the project.
Tom's crew did the work in one day including: excavation of some dirt and several existing concrete piers, forms, pouring and finishing.  Tom was there for the whole job.  Tom actually did a lot of the work (unlike some contractors who may just hire help).  He had a whole crew of PROFESSIONALS with him including: his brother (also a licensed contractor), another close colleague (also a licensed contractor), another finisher, and an assistant.  It was clear that Tom had good, strong working relationships with the entire crew.  That is the single most important reason I would recommend him to anyone.  I knew these guys knew what they were doing and that they took pride in their work.  I appreciated that Tom and his brother argued for quite awhile on the best way to handle the difficult slopes on our project. In fact, they ultimately came up with a better solution than the original plan and I've been very happy with it since.

We called Tom, along with a few other contractors. Tom was the only contractor who was on time! This was important since we had to take time off of work to meet with them. Tom was great in the initial consultation. He explained exactly what needed to be done, taking into consideration the grading and other issues.  He gave us a good estimate and was able to schedule the job a week out.  Perfect!
Tom and his crew arrived on time on the day of the concrete pour.  All of his crew were friendly and hard-working. They immediately got to work, preparing the area for the concrete. There was a bit of an incident with our patio screen door. With no hesitation, Tom and his crew advised us and before we knew it, they had replaced the screen.  Great guys! We enjoyed talking to them and getting to know them all.
When they were done, Tom took us around showed us everything, advised what to do and even offered suggestions about other things that needed to be done, including a drain in the front yard.
We thoroughly enjoyed working with Tom and all of his crew. We will happily recommend him to anyone looking for concrete services.

Tom was awesome! He was very punctual and very informative.  He was so quick and the concrete looks great! We absolutely love it, and Tom has to be the best in the area. .From the time he gave me an estimate, he knew exactly what would be the best way to tackle such a large project.  I am so glad that I hired him!

Tom arrived on time to provide a detailed written estimate. He took time to listen to our design ideas, and suggested some of his own. The estimate was fair and reasonable. His crew arrived on time on the start date ready to work. Tom and his brother Terry, provided endless hours of entertainment debating the project, measuring and re-measuring, calculating and re-calculating.  It was worth it.  In summary, all work was completed on time and met or exceeded the contract specifications. The crew was professional and courteous. They left the site spotless.  And as an added bonus, Tom regraded and filled a steep slope with the dirt removed from grading the patio. The project turned out better than our vision. We would recommend Tom to anyone.

Tom gave us a bid after spending quite a while figuring out the problems are driveway and path faced.  He made sure we understood him and the process involved in making a new driveway.  We drove around and we pointed out driveways we liked.  We decided on an aggregate driveway.  We only had to wait a week until the work got started.  The men came at 7:30 and worked until 4-everyone gas it their all.  Tom is an Indiana Jones using the BobCat.  We were amazed at his agility with that machine!  The next day, the concrete was poured, raked etc.  The finished look is gorgeous!

We had a large tree root that was lifting up the concrete and  could  become a danger to those walking.  Tom and his crew removed, repaired and replaced two sections of the driveway.  He started around 8:30 and was finished around noon.  We are very happy with the work and definitely will use him again.

We had noticed a leak coming through the concrete on the side of our house, and determined that there was a ruptured sprinkler pipe underneath the walkway that needed to be replaced.  We feared that we'd have to have the concrete blasted out and then repoured after the pipe was repaired, but Tom figured out that he could lift the affected slab, remove and replace the damaged PVC pipe, and reposition the concrete.  It was a brilliant and very cost-effective solution.

Tom and his crew did a great job.  The new driveway looks terrific and he eliminated a tripping hazard on my property.  Tom sent me digital photos over the course of the project and kept me up to date on his progress.  When a tenant complained about the driveway contours and we ended up doing a change order to accommodate their wishes Tom took it all in stride.  Yes, I would use Tom's Concrete again on a future project.

We received three bids for concrete work at our house.  We asked for references from all the contractors, after driving around Sacramento, looking at the different jobs that were done by the various contractors, we decided to have Tom’s Concrete do our patio since his past customers that we visited all seem to love the work he did.  In addition, going with the cheapest bid can lead to headaches, because everyone knows, you get what you pay for. On the day of the job, Tom and his workers arrived on time, and immediately got to work.  By the time I got home from work, my old patio was broken out and removed and the layout for my new patio was all set up.  The following morning, they arrived on time again and I left for work as the concrete truck was pulling up.  By the time I was home from work, all the concrete had been poured, and they were almost done with the stamping.  The color we picked was a mix of two powders, and it was looking really good.  The stamping process can create a bit of mess, so when they finished the job and left my home I was impressed how clean they left everything.  We are so happy we went with Tom’s Concrete, Tom helped us to figure out how to layout our patio, what colors to use and he listened to what we wanted and he is completely professional.  Two days after he was done, my next door neighbor looked over the fence and loved our concrete so much she called him to get her concrete done.  You will be very happy with your concrete. Our patio is amazing! I have pictures, (before and after) I don’t see a place to upload them on the website, so if you would like me to send them to you, please email me.
