Painting Pros

We were very satisfied with Painting Pros and would recommend them. We talked to many painters but owner Jerry Shelton stood out as an experienced professional. In particular he was able to speak to the problem spots on our siding and make recommendations that others could not. He and his crew showed up on time every day, worked diligently all day and were respectful of our property. The entire job was done efficiently and we were very happy with the quality.

I am very pleased with them. I had read that they would accept Visa or Discover cards, but they don?t do that anymore. Their work is excellent. They did it in a very professional way. There was one thing that wasn?t put back correctly. So I called them and they sent somebody out immediately to fix it. They were prompt. They gave me an honest and fair bid. They helped me choose the colors. I am delighted with their work and I got many compliments for it. Their price was right within the ballpark. I would use their services in the future too.

Jerry arrived on time for the estimate, gave a quote and said that the painting could be completed within 7-10 days (we received several other, similar quotes). Inasmuch as it was November and we were concerned about the weather, he and his team started the job a couple of days early. They did an excellent job prepping, painting and cleaning up. They were also all very pleasant and easy to work with. Our house looks beautiful.

Used high quality paint. Did an impeccable job and did it in a very timely and professional manner. I plan to use Jerry Shelton again when I have the interior repainted.

Jerry was quick with a bid and his team completed the project on our older 2 story house in 4 days. They did an excellent job and Jerry was very knowledgeable and responsive. We were very pleased with the results and would highly recommend Painting Pros.

I contacted Painting Pros, because my HOA was requesting all homeowners to have the exterior of our homes painted by a certain date. Jerry was incredibly responsive and easy to work with. We actually had a different start date, but due to a cancellation, he was able to fit me in much sooner. He gave me an estimate that was very reasonable. He even contacted my HOA a couple of times to confirm the new paint requirements. When it came time to paint the house, he noticed that the original paint job was still in good condition, just a little faded, and the type of paint he was going to use wasn't the best option. He recommended another solution that was going to actually save me money. I was very pleased. It was comforting to know, he was doing what was best for my house. It was even more comforting, because I don't live in the area, and was going on blind trust. To further confirm he and his team did a great job, my neighbors have all called to say what a nice job he did, and how great the house looks. Thank you!

They did an excellent job with the painting and all of the trim. We thought the price was quite reasonable.

The whole project went seamlessley. They showed up when they said they would and did an excellent job. Not only did they do a great job of painting (including masking all windows, exterior pipes and all hardware) but they moved away plants, put everything back and cleaned up after themselves. They even removed a no longer needed TV antenna (!) and an old and unused sattelite dish (which they very kindly hauled off). I wanted the same colors so they carefully took samples of the old color and came up with a perfect match. Both the house and the cottage looked teriffic. The price was fair and the work excellent. I would definitely hire these guys again and highly recommend them.

The work was done in a professional manner and was completed in less than two days. We were uncertain about whether to use a different color on the window and door trims and if we should use a contrasting color around the garage doors. Jerry's advice on both counts was right on the money. With the additional work that was done (including hand painting the trims and cutting beams that showed dry rot), the final cost was still lower than other bids we had received. I would definitely use Painting Pros again. The house looks great!

Overall things went great. The rain interferred occasionally, but they worked around it. The owner proved to be trustworthy and reliable and I would reccommend Painting Pros to anyone who wanted a professional job. I would definately use them again.

Jerry came by for the estimate and spent time going over the entire job. He gave recommendations for color combinations based on our roof color and recommended we stay with the lighter shades to keep our west-facing home from over-heating in the summer, something I would not have thought of. We went over every detail of the painting and I felt confident that he knew exactly what we wanted. They did a wonderful job and made sure all the details were just as we had discussed. I am very happy with the results.

Jerry and his crew were punctual, thorough, and professional. The prep work on the house was extensive and painstaking. There was considerable dry rot that required replacement of siding boards. Most of this was done the first day. Most of the painting was done on the second day. I was very positively impressed by the results. I've lived in this house for 20 years, and I've had it painted three times. This was absolutely the best house painting that I've experienced here. The crew was courteous at all times. Very responsive to my questions. The price was fair, especially considering the quality of the work. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Jerry to anyone needing exterior house painting.

The estimate was originally about $300 higher but I did receive some discounts. Jerry Shelton is the companies principal. He was very cordial and professional. He never hesitated to do something if I did not think it was quite right.

The team was very careful preparing the inside of the home. They sprayed the bulk of the inside, and hand painted trims and doors. The job was very large, and Jerry and the crew were very careful with my belongings.

The price was very good. The work was very well done, clean and crisp. They came on time. I did not actually meet them in person but the whole deal was over the phone. It was very easy to work with them over the phone.

We looked over the outside of the house together. Jerry gave us different options for some of the work. For example: less expensive to use house color under the eaves' overhang rather than the trim color. Gave a fairly detailed bid. I had some questions which were readily answered. Jerry very accessible and present when most of the work was being done. He had one helper. There was no written contract, just the bid sheet. I clarified with Jerry a couple of times the things we had discussed over the phone after I had received the bid sheet. The work was performed per our verbal agreement. Jerry also helped with the color selection. The Saturday before the house was to be painted I was still unsure of the shade. He agreed to come over and help decide. A color was chosen. Later I left to run a few errands. When I came back I noticed that he had bought some paint of the shade we had selected and painted some samples on the house next to my previous paint samples. That helped to reassure me that we had selected a good color. Both Jerry and his helper were over that Saturday before they were to paint. The helper power washed the house. They helped us move things out of the way that were along the back porch onto the lawn. Later that evening Jerry called to let us know that it was raining (We hadn't noticed) and that we might want to put some of the things on under cover. I found Jerry to be good-natured, knowledgeable, easy to speak with and accommodating. The work was done in a timely fashion. The house looks great.

Jerry came by to assess the job on a Saturday morning, which was convenient. He was very easy to talk to about my requirements, raised issues that I hadn't considered, and went to the trouble of getting up on a ladder to scrape a fascia board and look for dry rot. He was very communicative about what I should expect, what type and brand of paint he would use (Frazee elastomeric on the walls, etc.), and how the job would proceed. He said it would take him and two employees 4 days to complete, with a ten year guarantee. I looked forward to receiving his bid in the mail in a few days, even though he wasn't certain whether he could start quite as soon as I would have liked (to beat the rainy season). I waited almost a week for his bid to arrive, then called and left him a message that I had not seen the bid yet. Time was getting short, and another painter I liked was ready to start. After a couple more days with no response, I couldn't wait any longer and hired the other guy, who had given me his bid during the initial meeting. Jerry's bid arrived in the mail the day after the other painter started work, two weeks after our meeting. Perhaps this sort of delay is typical, but I couldn't wait with the uncertainty. One week after the job was complete we had a violent, torrential rainstorm. I won't commit to using Painting Pros in the future, but I will certainly give Jerry another chance to promote his company's services if I'm in the market.

I am very, very pleased with everything. Painting Pros will receive all of my painting business. Communication with the contractor is important, and we communicated well. Contractor-owner is experienced, attentive to detail, meticulous, punctual, and works alongside his crew. Roof on this house is lightweight clay tile which is very brittle, breaks easily. I expected breakage (you have to) because of the task of getting way up under the eaves on the second story in some areas. Painting Pros was very knowledgeable and careful working on this type of roof to get waaaay up there which is dangerous. (Good-going, Painting Pros - I'm very happy; absolutely no one could have done it better.) The job included pressure washing of entire house. The second story is vinyl siding which did not need painting, but it did need to be rinsed off. The owner explained the vinyl siding could not be sprayed with the pressure because it would tear up the vinyl siding, but they could do more of a spray-rinse, which was fine with me, and I knew that I would have to wipe off the vinyl by hand eventually to get off all of the past six years of dust/dirt afterward. However, the spray-rinse of the vinyl had a better result than I expected. Now as for the painting job, this place has never looked so good, ever. Over the past 28 years, I have been able to look up and see minor spots in quirky corners that past painters missed, or areas where I thought they could have applied more paint - but as far as I see, this crew missed nothing, and the application is nice. I like the way the surfaces look, more than one coat with high quality paint and the quality of the work. Also, with past painters, there has been some overspray on the roof and also on the windows, but there is none that I have seen with this contractor. My front double doors and garage door look better than they ever have, and the house numbers and flag holder were sprayed black and now look very sharp. They also did a good job painting the gutters and trim. I was most concerned that any company I contracted with has workers' compensation insurance, and Painting Pros carries the appropiate license, bond and workers' compensation insurance. I will use this company again and refer it to others without hesitation when the opportunity arises.

Jerry was very responsive from the beginning of our contact. Work was started the next week, I believe. I had originally called for painting of the deck only but, when I explained that he would be painting after another fencing company actually did the wood repair, Jerry told me that he could do the repairs as well. We had to come up with some creative solutions in order to repair rather than replace at times. Jerry was very knowledgeable, discussing Pro's and Con's with me throughout. Entire job wound up costing more than I thought because more dry rot was found and so more work was needed than was apparent during the estimate.

Very nice work. It was done on time and promptly. The paint work appears well done and our house looks good.

Jerry Shelton of Painting Pros was one of three painting contractors who submitted bids for this project -- his was the lowest. He advised me on specific repairs I should make (specifically to the gutters and downspouts) before painting, something only one of the other 2 bidders did. A member of his crew came out the day before painting to pressure wash the house. The next day Jerry and his crew (there were 4 - 5 of them) filled in the gaps, cracks, etc in the stucco, fascia boards, and joints. They taped off the windows and doors, removed the light fixtures, and began painting, applying two coats to all surfaces. The painting took two days. Jerry also painted the garage doors and my front door and replaced the door hardware for me. I made a color change at the last minute for the garage doors and front door which Jerry took in stride and only charged an additional $175 for. The clean-up was thorough and the house looks great!

Jerry came out to give the original bid at $3,388.00 which was the lowest bid we received. We decided to add low sheen paint for an additional $90 to make the building (a rental) easier to clean. We also added Hy Tech insulating beads at a cost of $508 to make the building more energy efficient. Jerry was very friendly and knowledgeable and seemed concerned about the weather. He decided to wait a few months from when he gave the bid in January until the weather cleared up. This showed pride in workmanship. Others who bid on the job simply wanted to get started in the bad weather, which may have sacrificed quality. He called two months later when there was a break in the weather and we set up a time to do the job. Jerry went over the colors we chose with us and helped us choose the best fit. He had a good sense of what would work with our building. Pressure washing took one day. The next day he prepped the area for painting by scraping and covering the windows to spray the body of the building. Priming and spraying took one day and then it took a few more days to do the windows, doors, and porches. The windows were the most time consuming. Jerry was there the whole time, working alone some of the time. His crew was very personable and informative. They seemed experienced. It was nice to have Jerry there personally rather than simply contracting out the work. Our back deck was a little wobbly and had some rot. Jerry removed a rotten board and replaced it. He also added some wood pieces to the bottom of stairs to make them more sturdy at no additional cost. One thing that turned out a little differently than expected was that Jerry made the decision to change the brand of paint from Kelly Moore to Frazee without our input. We did not find this out until he had already purchased the paint and was about to apply it. It was a better deal for us because it was elastomeric paint at no extra charge, because apparently Frazee is trying to give incentives to Jerry to switch over to their brand, I just think it would have been appropriate to let us know beforehand. The paint job looks beautiful and should last many years. The site was left VERY clean. The didn't leave any trace of a mess. We had a wonderful experience working with Jerry and highly recommend him. We would use him again.

Jerry estimated the job himself, and was part of the painting team. The crew was on site when they said they would be, and Jerry was most responsive to my questions and request for suggestions. Prior to the job, Jerry communicated very well with me to arrange the paint colors at the paint store, and for some special needs that the home had prior to his painting. The crew was polite and professional.

Just fine. Performed all promised work to satisfaction. Clean lines and no misses. Would hire again. Best price offered of 3 bids received from companies on Angie's List.

Their work was really thorough, as I tried to summarize above. Jerry is an on-site painter/boss, and he went above and beyond what I expected. He and his crew moved everything I needed moved (mostly heavy potted plants and light patio furniture) and put it all back. They listen to music and joke a bit as they paint but they are serious about doing quality work and it shows. They removed (and even hauled off, which I did not expect) some rotting wooden shutters and even an old door I'd been meaning to get rid of. They sanded, and repaired as necessary and as requested on the house, screens, even a small roof gutter hole. We did about three walk-rounds when they were done to make sure we got everything. Jerry was great about spotting and fixing the tiniest blips or ladder marks. Clean-up (and prep) included sweeping and blowing off all debris. Garbage was carted off daily. I hope to bring them back to do the interior next year.
