Everything went very smoothly. They were always on time. Always polite. Left the house clean. Their company is a pleasure to deal with - and that is a rare thing to experience these days!
Description of Work: I purchased a new HVAC system (Goodman central heat and air unit with a 10 yr warranty) and had it installed. They took away the old, broken system, and installed the new one. They worked with me on achieving a good price, worked with my schedule, were always on time, were extremely polite, and left my house spotless. Their customer service, from the salesman to the office staff, is excellent - they are always polite, timely, explain things in detail, did the inspector scheduling. I love the new unit - it has variable speeds and is very efficient at heating my house. It is very quiet, as well. I love the new, programmable, remotable via smartphone, thermostat.

GREAT!!!!! John was very knowledgeable and made many suggestions that made for an outstanding job. John is very attentive to details. He installed the AC / Heating unit lower down on the pitch of my roof so that it wasn't visible from the street. John pointed out to me as I was standing on the roof with him the first day he came to my house to look at the AC units on the houses around me and pointed out to me what he would do to make my installation neat and clean by plumbing the gas, and electrical and drain properly. Everyone on his crew new exactly what to do, they worked extremely well together. Everything went just like clock work, the crane showed up right on time to remove the old unit and lift the new unit into place. I found Buckley Parnell Heating and Air on Angie's List. I chose them because they had the best reviews and they lived up to everyone of them.
Description of Work: Installed a new heating and air conditioning unit on by roof, Replaced duct work Installed solar fans Worked with SMUD so that I would receive all incentives that we're available. Worked with SMUD to get financing to pay for the heating and air, also he recommended a quality roofer to remove and replace my shingles. In addition he sub contracted with an insulation company to blow insulation into my attic. John Buckley coordinated all the scheduling and the quality control of all the contractors.

The professionals at Buckly Parnell were just that. Every contact with a representative of the company was a pleasant experience. The installation crew was prompt, friendly and efficient and the install went smoothly. We are very pleased with the new system and we would not hesitate to call them again.
Description of Work: The Provider installed a new heating and air conditioning unit, enlarged the air return duct work in the attic, replaced the AC circuit breaker and replaced the connecting aluminum wiring with copper. They also worked with the City of Roseville obtaining an energy rebate for us. Part of the rebate included in energy test and upgrading the attic insulation to code. The attic insulation was performed by a sub-contractor.

Description of Work: We had our air conditioner/furnace replaced in January. No problems. this evening water started dripping out of the vent in our hallway. The office was closed but we called Brian who had sold us the unit. He came over on a Sunday evening on his day off to check our unit and discovered the condensation tube was clogged. He unclogged it advised us to run the fan for a few hours. When a company is this Responsive to their customers, you know you have chosen the right company!! Thank you Brian and Buckley Parnell, because of your integrity and exceptional customer service , you have a customer for life!

Buckley Parnell has been doing maintenance on our unit for over 15-years. They have always been fair with us. When they informed us that the unit would most likely not make it through the summer we began the discussion of replacing it. Overall everything went fine. They were always available for questions too. John and Jake are nice and friendly, and we appreciate that they are a family business. We will continue to use them in the future for our maintenance, as well as any other HVAC needs.

After using Buckley Parnell for regular maintenance, I hired them to replace my air handler in early 2012. The install seemed to go smoothly and I thought they were professional. There was a hiccup with some leaking water about 2 months later but they came right out and addressed it. I've said good things about Buckley Parnell to friends and co-workers and a friend has used their service after I told her I thought they were good. After I recently saw more water leaking from the air handler onto the drop ceiling, I called to make an appointment. I was told by John that he would be out after 4pm to accommodate my schedule. No one showed up or called to reschedule or cancel. I left an after-hours message asking what happened but no response till the next afternoon, a Tuesday. I got a call asking when would be good for them to come out, no explanation offered on the no show. By then, I had already found another company to come. Their invoice states "found new air handler installed by others with leak at primary drain connecting to pan (no thread seal used) and I paid $120.57 to fix what I believe was shoddy workmanship. I am disappointed in Buckley Parnell and will not be returning as a customer.

Our Heater/AC went out so we called this company because they were "best rated" on Angie's List. At first our experience was good but soon after John (owners son) started throwing in all these extra fixes (all cosmetic) to make that would cost $2,000+ AND on top of all that he could not figure out our original issue and had to make several trips back to our house. After a few weeks I got frustrated and called the company to complain about John not being able to diagnose our issue. (and we had already paid to have a diagnostic and we never received our Angie's List coupon of $20 off a diagnostic) Long story short, John came back out to our house (again) and said that our bearings were shot. He said that it would be close to $900.00 to fix it. So basically he wanted us to pay $3,000+ to fix everything. Ummmm no. I felt he was trying to rip us off and I called another company and the new guy came out and within minutes diagnosed that our fan motor needed to be replaced. The new guy had a motor on hand and it was fixed in less than an hour! We paid $250 total!!!!!! I know that Buckley Parnell is well rated and that being said, I feel sorry for everyone on here who got suckered by this company.

Excellent. The crew were professional, skilled and with integrity I felt comfortable having them at our home when we were and were not there. They installed additional vents to ensure that the system would work in a bedroom that had no vents. They did everything they said they would and it is obvious Buckley Heating and Air really does care about the client. I can understand why they keep getting the Angie List Awards. Well deserved.

I contacted this company after reading the reviews on Angie's List. I have an old A/C unit and it had suddenly stopped working. I thought it would be for an expensive job. Luckily, it turned out to be a bad part and the techinician had the part in his truck. Affer the job was completed, the technician completely reviewed my A/C to check on its overall condition. For such an old unit, it appeared to be in good shape. This was such a relief to know. The technician also spent some time with me to "educate" me on my system, which I really appreciated. The techician was knowledgable, friendly and professional. Buckley will be the first company I call for any future problem with my A/C.

We have used BuckleyParnell twice before for some minnor furnace repairs and was quite inpressed with them. So we contacted them for a quaote on a new HVAC system to replace our 18 year old system. John Buckley came and we spent several hours discussing the various options. John was very good at explaining the options and answered all of my questions. There was no high pressure sales tactics - at no time did I feel any pressure. The installers arrived on time at 07:30 and finished at 4:30 in the afternoon. They were polite and professional and freely answered any of my questions. The flooring was covered with pads to ensure no damage. Two days later it was inspected by the city and the inspectors only comment was that it was a very good install job.

After we signed the contract, we determined the schedule. It was expected to take two or three days to complete there work.. Brian Buckley and I walked the site and identified where the gas line would run from the existing stubs. He explained that there would be a cut-off valve for the gas in the attic. I requested an additional one placed in an accessible spot in the garage and this was not a problem. They showed up right on time on day one. First off was introductions and job-site ground rules- non smoking site, location and availability of bathroom for worker use. The first think they did was to cover the carpet between the front door and the upstairs attic access. They proceeded with demolition, removing the whole house fan which provided easier attic access. This uncovered the first problem: the bid specified reusing the ceiling fan grill. However, the original fan was an integrated fan and grill. Brian said that he would provide the grill at no additional cost. I disagreed and paid $90 for a new grill. Demolition proceeded quickly and cleanly. There were a few minor issues with the gas line- mainly that there was a double ceiling in the garage that made for routing more interesting. New duct work was installed, and the old electric furnace removed. At the end of the day, everything was cleaned up and detritus disappeared. The second day ran as well as the first, roll out carpet coverings, off to the attic to install the new furnace, mate it to the existing A/C component, hook up and test the gas line, reconnect the A/C lines to the outside unit, seal all the registers. Day 3 was mainly testing, certification and County Building Inspections. The final SEER testing was marginally passable for new construction, and significantly better than that of existing construction. Given that the hard ductwork between the floors were beyond the scope of this project, I was quite satisfied. In all, I am quite pleased with the outcome and believe I have very good value for the money. Some aspects did not completely mesh with my unexamined expectations. The whole house fan does not pull as much air as the old one. It does not, however, sound like a freight train on high. The slats on the grill are uninsulated, and in the summertime, tend to radiate heat into the second floor. I contacted the manufacturer, and found there are upcoming regulations to require such slats to include R-4 insulation. This is NOT a Buckley Parnell issue. I do find that there are occasions when warming the house is a plus and it is now quite convenient to do so. THIS is a Buckley Parnell issue. Our monthly gas usage has skyrocketed from 2 to about 5 therms per month. PG&E assesses a surcharge if you don't use their minimum amount. Some months we don't get his with that surcharge. I had intended to post this soon after completion, but you know what road is paved by good intentions. Their call to schedule the complementary 'birthday' maintenance got me to post.
Description of Work: The house was built in 1985 and included all-electric central HVAC, but heated primarily with a freestanding wood stove and cooled with a whole house fan to augment the central air. We do not generally heat the house in winter, but put on sweaters unless it is really cold. Pacific Gas and Electric provided natural gas service to the development in late 1995 and in early in1996 we had a gas water heater installed. At that time we had gas lines stubbed to the kitchen and garage for future expansion. I was in the attic in late 2011 and noticed the HVAC ducts had deteriorated such that they were disintegrating and needed replacement. I sought bids on a multiple tiered job: duct work, replace the whole house fan, replace the electric heater with a gas furnace (getting older and I could see where chopping and hauling wood may not be practical at some point). I sought three bids from Angie's List vendors. I received two bids, and later found the third had an erroneous email address which explained for the failure to submit a bid. I requested separate bids on each tier with materials and labor presented separately. Neither bidder submitted bids as discretely separated as requested, but I was able to analyze the bids to evaluate each component to my satisfaction. I found labor rates differed significantly, but that overall job costs were roughly comparable. The bidders specified different brands of equipment, which research indicated were equivalent. Both bidders noted that the air return for the HVAC was of inadequate size for the unit and building. Upgrade to that was included in the bid. I had specified that the furnace bid include a unit with a minimum of 80% efficiency. After selecting the bidder, we returned to pricing negotiations to upgrade to a unit with 95% efficiency. The additional cost was relatively minor in the overall job cost and I am glad I did so.

Buckley Parnell's initial inspection revealed significant problems with our 24 year old system, including a strong potential for carbon monoxide release. They shut down the system, but were unable to schedule the replacement work until the following week. In the meantime, they delivered two large space heaters for our use. The work was all completed on a single day the next week. They were unfailingly friendly and professional. Everything, including the new wifi thermostat, was running perfectly by the time they left. I waited until the Citrus Heights Building Inspector completed the review of the work done before submitting this review. The inspector stated to me that the work done installing our new system was the best she had ever seen. I could not be more satisfied with Buckley Parnell and would highly recommend them to anyone.

These guys are FANTASTIC. The owner's son (John Buckly) came out. He listened to what I was told by two other AC companies. One company stated that the compressor motor was drawing high starting amps and continuous run amps. The other company came out and simply assumed what the prior company stated was correct. Both companies quoted me 8-9K prices for complete system replacement (Heating & AC). John was immediately skeptical of the information about the AC compressor. He checked starting current draw, continuous run current, and he also meggered (applied terminal voltage across windings) to check motor winding condition. I am in the utility business. John did everything he was suppose to do the same way utility technicians check commercial equipment. I was truely impressed. I watched/observed John and it was obvious he knew what he was doing. As a result, I do not need to replace my system. At John's recommedation I will replace the compressor motor contactor, replace current diconnect box with a 60 amp fusable time delay diconnect box, and replace the current 45 amp CB with a 60 amp CB (Label plate data for compressor states 60 amp is max draw) 45 amp CB is to small based on label plate data. I will do this myself since I am in the utility business and this is relatively minor for me. I would not recommed everyone do this type of work themselves. John spent about an hour, after driving up from Elk Grove area, diagnosing the system and saved me $$$$. I was not present when the technician from the other company performed the check. Perhaps my wife was mislead/taken advatage of.; not sure. All I know is that John did thourogh checks, John showed me the readings on his megger and amp meter, and he did not charge me for the visit. I offerred to pay but John refused. Where do you get service like this; you don't anymore. Buckley Parnell is the ONLY HEATING AND AC COMPANY I WILL DEAL WITH FROM NOW ON. Great customer service, and technicians are professional/personable and knowledgable.

They arrived on time and had everything completed in 1 day. The furnance is located in the attic and is very difficult to access. The installers were very polite, very professional and took all precautions to insure that nothing in the house was damaged. The intial sales visit was done by Brian Groom who was very professional and spent several hours with my wife and I explaining all our options and the total cost of the new equipment. Brain even came back at my request one other time to answer some additional questions before we made our decision. At no time did we ever feel pressured to by Buckley Parnell to buy from them. Brian was here several times on the day of installation and even came back several weeks after the installation to make sure everything was OK and to give me a binder with all of my paperwork. As an aside when the city inpector finished the inspection of the furnace in the attic she commented that they had done a beautiful job. In summary the expereince far exceeded my expectations and my waife and I have been very pleased with the end result.
Description of Work: I had the entire heating and a/c system replaced which included updating of duct work, bringing the entire system up to code. Buckley Parnell handled all of the work which included obtaining the permits, removal of all units, installation of new units, disposal of old equipment, vacuuming of rugs, leak testing, submitting all rebate forms to SMUD and PG&E, and arranging for final inspection.

They were very careful and conscious about keeping the house clean, wearing shoe covers and not leaving fingerprints around the house. The entire process took less than a full day; I came home from work early to sign paperwork, and was amazed to find them almost finished. They took the time to test all the air vents, and also to instruct us on the operation of the control panel. They also provided a binder with the system information for our future reference.

2 technicians arrived on time. I had been having some trouble with my unit, but I didn't tell them. They went to the roof and inspected and cleaned the rooftop unit. They came down and told me about a few problems that they saw. (it explained the problems I'd been having) They said that my unit was 20 years old, and nearing the end of it's "life". They didn't try to sell me a new unit...instead told me that it was safe to use, still had some life, but to be prepared to get a new unit if this one failed. When this one does fail, I'll once again buy from Buckley Parnell.

During the early January cold spell, I was notified by our property manager that the heater had gone out, and needed to be replaced. I was told that the air conditioner might also need replacement as it was aging. The air conditioner had been repaired several months earlier. After reading the reviews on Angie's List, I phoned Buckley Parnell Heat and Air to obtain an estimate for a new furnace, and, possibly, a new air conditioner. I was told that Brian Groome would go to the home and prepare an estimate. Promptly after he had visited the home, Brian phoned to discuss his findings. He gave me two estimates, one for replacing the furnace, and for replacing both the furnace and air conditioner. He had already checked to see what year our air conditioner model had been made, and said that it probably had a few more years of life if we did not replace it at this time, (It was already 15+years old.) He said that if we decided to replace it now, both the heater and the A/C could be installed with the same permit, and labor costs would be less if it was installed with the heater instead of being installed separately at a later date. He described the work that would need to be done, and explained why it was necessary. We discussed several furnace options, and he notified me of the rebates available through utility companies when purchasing the energy efficient models. He was able to satisfactorily answer all of my questions. He was very professional, and seemed very trustworthy. After speaking with him, my husband and I decided to replace both units. An appointment was made for the installation. I was not present during the installation, but I understand that it was done as scheduled, with no unpleasant surprises. As far as I know, our tenant is happy with the work that was done. After the installation, I received the appliance pamphlets and other paperwork, including rebate forms, through the mail. I am very happy to have worked with this company, and would select them again, as well as refer them to friends. They communicate well, are courteous, take pride in their work, and are reliable.

My air conditioner stopped working on a day over 100 degrees. The technician came promptly and was able to troubleshoot the problem quickly and get my air conditioner running again. My system is old and needs to be replaced soon however the technician did not pressure me to replace it. He just fixed it so that we can be comfortable again! I was so pleased and it has been running beautifully since then. I intend to call them when I can afford to replace my system.
