David showed up on time, equipped to solve my problem. He was very professional and methodical in his work. I felt comfortable with his knowledge and personality. He explained everything and I would certainly call him back if I need help with anything electrical.

Just purchased home where inspector noted aluminum wiring with new plugs and switches which were not aluminum rated. Wanted it all brought to code and safe before moving in with a disabled spouse and lots of medical equipment. Dave called within an hour or so of messaging him (on a Saturday) and we set the project for the following Tuesday. Very quick response! Dave also gave me a list of what we would need so I could purchase directly before he showed up, thus saving a substantial amount of money. He let me do some of the tedious, non-skilled work (removing switch and plug covers and reinstalling), so he could focus on the important tasks and keep the hourly rate down. I really appreciate his knowledge and skills and his willingness to explain everything while he works. We have a little more work to be done, so I'll be calling Dave Brannan back again.
Description of Work: Replaced a breaker, replaced plugs and switches with aluminum-rated ones, rewired/pigtailed GFCIs to make safe. Tested and adjusted all 4 outdoor motion-sensing lights.

Dave was very professional, knowledgeable, and personable. He efficiently, installed the somewhat complex, upscale Hunter ceiling fan. The new fan looks great and works perfectly. I would definitely use Brannan Electric again.!

Dave Brannan drove to the house on short notice to restore power for the tenants who rent from me. He was quick to respond even though it was a Saturday and he was considerate in making arrangements with tenants to complete work. After completion Dave called to explain the work done and provided a detailed invoice for payment. This is the fourth time I have called this electrician. I have been fully satisfied with the quality of work and prompt completion of services every time Brannan Electric has done home repairs for me.

Not only is Dave the Earl of Electricity, a true disciple of Nikola Tesla, but a good guy. He guided me to the mostly hidden GFI outlet, on the phone, for free. A man of integrity! Happy Easter Dave .

When I first contacted Brannan Electrical for an estimate, David, the owner, was "under the weather" and unable to schedule an appointment immediately. Despite not feeling well, he took the time to help me try to trouble-shoot the problem. As soon as our mutual schedules permitted, David installed the necessary GFI's. He was very professional and skilled at his profession as well as personable. Should the need arise again, I would not hesitate to call Brannan Electrical.

I have used David several times in the past and he has always done good work for me, he finds the problem and sticks with it until he makes the repair or fixes the problem. He traced this problem to 2 worn circut breakers and replaced both. Dave will come back if need be to get the job done right.

Although my project wasn't work that Dave could do as he does not have any employee's and what I needed done required at least two people, he was nice enough to recommend another company to me who could. ?He was even nice enough to call them for me and have them call me. ?I literally got off the phone with Dave and within 10 minutes I was getting a call from the other electrician he recommended. ?The company he recommended came out and were able to complete my project for a completely reasonable price and were just fantastic people to work with. ?Although I didn't get to work with Dave on this project I would certainly call him again if I needed electrical work in the future. ?Thanks for the great recommendation Dave!

I was alarmed when I smelled the wiring as it melted in the plug to my clothes dryer so I looked on Angie's List and found Brannan Electric. Dave spoke to me at length on the phone to advise what parts to get before he came. He arrived a few hours later and performed the job. Now I can run my clothes dryer without worrying about a fire. Very satisfied with the work performed. Thrilled that he could do it on such short notice.

Dave Brannan was professional and communicated well. He provide good service and when an issue with trouble-shooting would have cost me more hours to have him do it, versus having trouble-shooting electrical expertise, he referred me to another really good Angie's List contractor, Jones Electric, that did a great job trouble-shooting the issue.

Our front porch lanterns have not worked since a handyman tried to replace the electric timer for them a month ago. Not only was the timer not working, but we could not turn on the porch lights manually anymore. We hired David, who arrived on-time. He even called about 10 minutes before he arrived to let us know he would be here soon. (We love that). Immediately after removing the "non-working" timer he said, "This has been wired wrong!" David correctly wired the timer to the house wiring and double-checked the other switches in the same housing. The previously "non-working" timer works perfectly now. David also replaced a faulty timer that controls the garage exterior lights. Now we have light again at nighttime! He also provided some consulting for my husband on what it would take to install a house "surge-protector". David is very knowledgeable and professional, and has a good sense of humor. We would definitely recommend him to others.

Everything went well. I did not get several people to submit bids since the job was so small. I am happy that there was nothing wrong with the breaker box and I am happy to have more light in the garage. I have several other small electrical jobs that need to be done in the future and I will most likely call Brannan electrical. While the service call amount seemed a bit much I was expecting that it would take more work than it actually did and he was up front about the amount. Since the circuit is now working and I have a decent amount of light in my garage I am happy with the result.
Description of Work: My circuit breaker box was not resetting on one circuit so I asked him to come to replace the breaker. He checked the breaker and got it to reset by flipping it back and forth several times. He told me everything was in good shape and I did not need to replace anything. Since he was at my place I had him reinstall some light fixtures that had been torn out some time ago when one of my pipes burst and caused water damage. I had let it go for awhile since I still had some operating lights in the garage.

The most recent service Dave gave me was advice and instructions over the phone to fix my power going out in my own kitchen while preparing a big family holiday dinner. When I described my problem, he gave me preliminary advice over the phone on how to check for problems at my breaker box. He also referred me to an electrician more local to my home, and he called me back the next morning to check if my problem was fixed and if the other electrician had returned my call. When I left him a message that the other electrician was out of town for the holidays, he returned my call again and offered to schedule an appointment but suggested we try one more time with his instructions over the phone as he indicated my problem was an easy fix. I followed the steps he gave me, and voila, my power was restored in my kitchen as well as my garage which had also later gone out. In the end, my problems were solved, Dave gave me some good education about understanding electricity, he saved me from having to take time off work to set up an appointment, and he didn't charge me a dollar for all this help. And by the way, he even made another follow up call to make sure everything was still working. I highly recommend Dave Brannan Electric and will continue to use him for electric repairs in my rental properties and personal home.
Description of Work: Dave has been my electrician for years, helping me fix several issues with my rental properties. He's always been very professional, responsive, courteous to my tenants, and most of all very safety conscious. And his follow-up and accountability are extraordinary compared to many contractors I have hired in the past. I have complete confidence in Dave's work, and it's great to know he's out there for me to call whenever I need an electrician.

He was very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. He was very honest, advised us to replace all eight smoke alarms in the house since they were beyond the seven-year life they were good for, and advised us what specific brand of alarm to buy (and while on the initial phone call he called Home Depot to make sure they had the brand instock, which was very helpful and impressed me). He came as quickly as possible, did the work quickly and carefully, checked to make sure the work was perfect and complete, and was very pleasant and interesting to talk to. I would not hesitate to highly recommend Mr. Brannan to others and, if and when we need other electrical services, we will hire him again. This was one of the best repair experiences we have ever had.
Description of Work: David Brannan was very responsive and helpful when he rescued us from a beeping alarm that could not be stopped by changing the battery as we expected it would. The beeping continued for more than a day.

He was originally going to rearrange his schedule to come out and take care of it but asked for a little more information and when I mentioned how newly done it was he let me know that it should still be under warranty from the contractor. He was right and they came out and did the repair at no cost. He has consistently given me good advice on electrical projects in my home and I definitely recommend him.

I called Dave because I had a couple of outlets not working. I had done everything I could think of on my own and was ready to pay for a professional to come out and fix them. Over the phone Dave gave me a few additional things to try on my own, and one of those resolved my problem. It was amazing experience to have a service person not try and get as much money as possible out of me but instead care about doing the right thing. He even called back to follow up to make sure his suggestions helped resolve my problem and offered guidance and advice based on my findings. Thanks!

W**?! I found Brannan Electric of Citrus Heights on #AngiesList which I thought would be better than to choose an "unknown" contractor at random. I am flabbergasted... yes, I used that word. The contractor was nice enough but he just left abruptly! He took a look at my light fixture and said there were too many wires he didn't know what to do with and that it was too modern for him. He recommended a younger contractor who knew all about all sorts of "new fangled" lighting... umm, what?! He also said he had a family medical issue and should never have come to work and was "taking himself out of service". He said he couldn't help me, packed up and left. While I completely sympathize with a family medical emergency, this was completely unprofessional. He should be knowledgeable about his profession and he should have never taken the job. Now, what the h*** am I supposed to do? It's the afternoon before Thanksgiving!

Response from Brannan Electric
I was having a bad day when I arrived at this members house, this is true,it happens.Whats not true is I did not charge 150.00 as the member indicates,I charged not a penny,no repair,no charge.I'd like to say I know everything there is about electric repair, and electricity in general, while I'm at it.I don't.The ballast/transformer was wired with more wires than I'd ever seen, the fixture was loose to the ceiling, and kinda funky,so I informed the member I could'nt perform the repair. In all trades and in life your gonna hit a wall,if I'm not 100% positive.........I'm not proceeding, period.I referred the member to another electrician on a-list whose son is really up on all lighting.I followed up and they called the member who never responded to them.Later I called the member and he said he'd taken care of it by replacing the 2 lights. He voiced no complaint to me.Funny, that's what I told him would be the best thing to do previously, replace them.

Dave Brannan is great! He knows his stuff. We wanted to make sure our rental property was safe after our tenant described intermittent power issues with the TV and electrical equipment. Dave determined there was just too much stuff plugged in, said our breaker box was "A+ top of the line" and reassured us that our property is safe. Plus, he's just a hoot to talk to! Enjoyed working with him and will definitely call again for electric issues!

I'm new to the area and was grateful to find local listings on Angie's List to help me find an electrician so well reviewed. I called Dave based on those reviews and explained my problem (had an outlet in the garage fail that was labeled GFCI protected, but resetting the only GFCI resettable outlet I could find didn't work). I consider myself fairly handy and moderately resourceful (not to mention "experienced", which really just means old), and I've done a lot of work on my own homes, but this one had me stumped. Dave took a lot of time on the phone with me, asking me if I'd checked a number of possible causes. He gave me some valuable tips on how to go about the troubleshooting, and pretty much prioritized the order in which I should go through them. He said if I couldn't find the problem, he'd be happy to come out, but was equally happy to save me the money if he could. (wow - don't hear that much anymore!) Dave even followed up with a phone call after a little bit to see how it was going! Well, I found the problem and it turned out to be a relatively easy fix. I let Dave know and the next time I need electrical work of any kind, I now know just who to call. A real gentleman and true pro. Thank you, Dave.

So David has been to our home four or five times now. Our mid-century post and beam is at that point where it just needs a little more tender loving care and David is our go to electrical guy for this. Recently, I had noticed that a circuit would trip when the hair dryer was on. I was thinking it was time to call David about it. Low and behold that afternoon David dropped by to give us his Brannan Electric annual calendar. What are the chances? It's been almost a year since he was last here. He fixed the problem on the spot. it's now been a full week of using the blow dryer without having to schlep outside to the electrical box to flip the switch. Yippee! This guy knows what he's doing which makes him worth his fees - essential when it comes to home safety. Besides that, he's just a really likable guy. If you don't like him seek help. That's right, he's that likable. Thanks David for handling our problem on the spot. What service!

Dave was punctual and friendly. He arrived and went right to work on the replacement of the dimmer switch in the bathroom. After that was completed, he checked the outlets in the living room to determine if they could be replaced with grounded plugs. He was very helpful and answered all of our questions related to the work he had done and other electrical work we want done in the future. I would highly recommend him and plan to use him in the future.

My home is 70 years old and I bought it about 10 years ago. Several repair issues arose recently and I wanted to know what might need attention in areas I could not see. A home inspector found several significant health and safety issues that needed attention including some significant electrical issues. I found Dave on Angie's List and he quickly responded when he heard what was wrong. He arrived when he said he would, kept in touch via phone on project logistics and he left the work areas cleaner than he found them. He provided a tutorial about what was wrong, why it needed to be fixed and why is was important. I was impressed with Dave and I would recommend him highly. I feel relieved to have the hazardous electrical problems in my attic addressed. and I will call him for anything electrical in the future. An aside - I had my kitchen and bathroom remodeled when I bought my home 10 years ago and the contractors left the ungrounded/unprotected wires in my attic. I guess the city inspector was blind the day he came to sign off on the work at my house. I am so dismayed that I paid so much money and both the contractor and the city left me with hazardous and expensive problems to fix. It is especially problematic because there is not way I could have seen or known that they left this mess since I can't climb up in my attic. I don't know what to recommend except stay away from Kitchen Mart and be there when the city inspector comes so you can make sure he/she actually looks at the electrical work.
Description of Work: Inspected the attic, replaced 4 circuit breakers in electrical panel, installed 11 boxes in attic to correct hazardous live wires, certified attic is safe for insulation installation, installed 2 GFI outlets on patio and installed a smoke detector in the garage.
