Two men showed up, very punctually, the next morning, and quickly assessed the situation. They took apart the door, bent some panels back in (they don't look perfect, but good enough!), put everything back together, greased it up, and showed me what they had done. To top it off, they honored the $15 Angie's List discount, which made the whole experience much less painful. My son repaid half the cost out of his savings, but the whole experience with 1A Advanced was a pleasure. Their contact information now sits right next to the garage door switch, so I'll make sure to call them next time I need a service. Thanks!
Description of Work: After my son backed into a halfway open garage door (don't ask), I was desperate to get someone to my house, as the garage door would no longer close completely. My previous garage door service quoted their available as a week out, which was unacceptable! I went to Angie's list, saw the high ratings for 1A Advanced, and gave them a call. No problem, they could move some things around and be out first thing in the morning!

Thank you (removed member name). I am glad we were able to help you on getting your garage door repaired. Hopefully we won't have to see you any more on these type of occasions lol. Remember the door has some damage to it so the best you can do on getting as much life out of it as possible is to lube the door a couple times year. It will keep it running smooth and quiet for a longer time. Thank you again (removed member name) for your rating :)

I called 1A Advanced Garage Doors immediately upon noticing that my garage door would not open. A technician arrived at my house within an hour of my phone call! Andrey was competent and polite, and explained what needed to be done. He replaced the broken spring on my double garage door, as well as checked/oiled the other parts. I had been having problems with the opener on the single door, Andrey checked it out and determined that the "travel limits" part wasn't working properly and replaced it at no charge! Now, both garage doors are working without any problems! 1A Advanced Garage Doors' customer service is awesome, and Andrey too! I will contact 1A Advanced for any future needs.

Andrey came by right on time and when I described what my garage door was doing he knew exactly what I was talking about. He made some adjustments to the sensors and that took care of it. While he was there he checked the garage door and opener for any other pending problems. And there was no charge!! Who does that anymore? I will definitely call 1A Advanced Garage Doors again if I ever have any more garage door problems.

My garage door was fine, just squeeking a litlle. Now I know I really didn't need a "tune-up", I just needed to oil the moving parts, maybe tighten a few odd bolts and be done. Live and learn. I got the email on the angie's list deal and starting wondering if there was something I was supposed to be doing with the door. I think I oiled it once in the last 21 years. Plus it started squeeking some. Thought I would hire someone this time and they could show me the 21-point inspection that are included in the tuneup description and what maintenance is needed, and how to do it. Then do it myself after that. That was the idea. Guy comes out from 1A Garage. Nice enough kid (kid bc I'm old). Runs the door and says it will only take a few minutes. He and his partner run around and spray a shot of lubricant on each hinge and each roller, then grease the opener track. Open and close door a few times. What do you know; squeeking is better. Then apparently they're done. I ask a few questions about a couple parts I know about (weatherstripping, spring). That prompts to release the door and then they find out the spring needs adjustment. This is done in two minutes. Weatherstripping ok. I ask a few more questions I can think about, what oil to use when I do it myself... and I sign paperwork and done. 7 - 10 minutes work for $89. Granted they both were energetic and moved fast, but still didn't sit right. Pulled up the "deal". Realized it mentions specific things that are supposed to be done and call 1A. Spoke with someone (owner?). Seemed like a nice enough person. I explained. He seemed to understand. Gave me no hassle. Offered to give me my money back which I thought was generous... kinda expected to offer to pay half. Done. Afterwards pulled up very informative video from Lowes. Now I know what I'm supposed to do. By the way, the guy in the video said not to oil nylon rollers. I'll try not to worry about it :)

I am sorry that your experience was not to your satisfaction with us. Your garage door was in a good condition and it did not need anything major done to it. We are not going to up sell you on unnecessary parts when your door is in good shape. When a 21 point tune up is being done, it doesn't necessarily mean we have to do 21 things. The majority of it is making sure the parts are not damaged and working properly. Here is a list on the check point: 1. Check to see that door is properly balanced 2. Check door for any cracks in panels 3. Check to see if weather-strip is damaged 4. Check all hinges for any cracks 5. Check rollers to see if ball bearings are wearing out 6. Check bearing plates to see if ball bearings are wearing out 7. Check pulleys to see if ball bearings are wearing out 8. Check cables for any fraying 9. Check tracks to ensure they are aligned properly 10. Check jamb brackets to ensure tracks are not too tight to wall 11. Check every screw and bolt to ensure they're all tight 12. Check force settings on opener 13. Check to see if limit switches are tarnished 14. Check to see that limit switches are set properly 15. Check to see that sensors are lined up properly 16. Check to ensure opener is properly secured at wall and ceiling 17. Check to ensure the chain / belt is not too tight (on chain / belt drives 18. Check to see that all remotes, keypads, and wall switches are working 19. Check to make sure red cord is not hanging too low (luggage racks can catch the handle) 20. Check to see if light bulb is working 21. Lubricate the garage door and opener where necessary If you noticed the majority of the list is to check the door and not much labor. The guys might have done 8-10 minutes of work, but at the same time there are two guys instead of one on the job. And lets not forget the 30-40 min travel time, the 10-20 min talking with customer, and a never ending list of our overhead. About the nylon rollers not being lubricated, the only time it is unnecessary to lube nylon rollers is if they are sealed bearings. The ones on your garage door were open. Here is a video tutorial on lubing your garage door. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5tvGS7okoU We did everything that we are supposed to do on your door and not only did the guys tune your big door but also tuned your small door. So I really don't understand where we get an F on the price and quality if at the end we did not take 1 single penny from you.

The appointment was scheduled promptly. Technician was polite, knowledgeable. Explained everything he was doing. Answered all my questions. Did not try to upsell me on a new opener. All I needed was replacement of the broken spring. (DO NOT ever try d*** this yourself!!) All parts of the door and opener were serviced at the same time. Left everything clean and tidy. Would call them again

I had called a couple of places not using Angie's list to replace the weather striping at the bottom of the garage door. No one I spoke with either carried the type of weather striping required for my door or they said they would check and never called back. When I called 1A Advanced Garage Doors, I was asked to text a picture of the weather striping. I was given an estimate over the phone and they came out the same day and replaced the weather striping! And, I was able to apply their 15% off coupon offered online to Angie's List members. We were so pleased and the professionalism of the owner is to be commended. Thank you for the great job!

This morning the screws popped off the door which made it inoperable. My husband called Joe Blow garage door repairman and he gave an ETA of 2-3pm. By 345, and no return phone calls-I knew he was going to be a new show, and my afternoon completely wasted. I then turned to to Angie's list, and when I called the number-owner was polite, professional, and knowledgeable. He had just finished up a job, and was at my house within 30 minutes. Yep, you read that right, 30 minutes! He looked at the door, explained why happened, give a great estimate, and 30 minutes later the work was done (with even a few extras thrown in). He was an absolute lifesaver, with A+++ service

The technician arrived early. He was there to repair a broken spring and replace it with a double spring. When he looked at the door, he realized it was a single door and could not install a double spring. I thought I mentioned it to the guy on the phone that it was a single door or maybe I didn't (I don't recall). Here is where things get a little off. Instead of reducing the price of the repair to a single spring, he proposes to add a reinforcement piece to the top of the door for the same price. He said that it is normally more expensive than the double spring. Knowing nothing about garage doors, I initially say yes after negotiating to lower the price slightly. Ultimately, I change my mind and they were fine with reducing the price. I was not sure whether I was being sold something unnecessary to keep the service cost the same. The work itself went quickly and professionally. The spring they installed was better than the old one. He even added a little more tension when I told him I planned on installing insulation to the door. He finished by lubricating not just the broken door but the other door as well. Additionally, he did a quick adjustment to the other door that improved its movement. Overall, I was happy with experience.

I'm sorry [member name removed] I thought you have mentioned that it was a double car garage. When Andrey came out to see that it was a single door he recommended you install a reinforcement strut for the door since 2 springs was not an option. Every time you have a garage opener on your door, you always need that reinforcement strut. You can even research it or call a couple door guys. A lot of times if you don't have a strut installed on your door, it can lead to a whole disaster if you close the door on something or run it on a broke spring. It will rip your sections right in half and cause much more damage then $40 we would have charged. It is not an upsell we just always take precautions and let our customers know before something goes wrong. Again we are sorry for the miscommunication. If there is something I can do for you then please let us know. Thank you Vince

Overall went very well. Install of new rollers and checking out the functioning of the garage door, and there is some improvement noticed, although maybe my expectations were set too high as to what type of improvement there would be with the new rollers. He was obviously very slammed with business due to the angies deal of the week, but was polite and prompt.

I'm sorry that you are not as satisfied with the new rollers. Usually with the plastic and the nylon rollers it is not too much difference in the noise. The metal rollers are the loudest ones and that's when you can definitely notice the difference. The nylon rollers are not only made to be quieter, but they are built much beefier. Inside they have 10 ball bearings where it causes the rollers to ride much smoother. If you had the metal rollers then you would definitely hear the difference. But these nylon rollers will practically last you forever.

Overall, very disappointing! The 1st visit months ago to replace rollers in garage door was good, but this one was not. Other than replugging the opener he did nothing.
Description of Work: The 1st time they came, the young man was very informative and polite and did a wonderful job. Then yesterday, March 6, I called to have someone check my garage door opener as it was not working. A man came and replugged the opener in its slot and it worked. Then he told me the opener was old and I would have more problems, but he had brought a new one to sell me. I told him I would wait until this shut down completely (he never checked anything else) and then I would get a new one. He got in a huff and said he thought I would be getting a bill for his service!!! A bill for coming to my home to give me an ESTIMATE on problem and costs!!!!!!! No way!!

Hi [member name removed] this is Vince the owner of 1A Advanced Garage Doors. We apologize for your disappointment with our last visit. How we understood you over the phone was that your opener stopped working and you needed a new one. So I had the tech pick up a new opener for you to come and install it. Unfortunately your electrical was having some issues which caused the opener to stop working. After the tech found the problem he still wanted to upgrade you on a new opener due to its age. An average opener usually lasts roughly 10-15 years and the one on your house was well definitely over ten years. Our company takes $25 fee to come out and diagnose a problem with your garage door or opener. We only give free estimates on brand new door installs. Again we apologize for the misunderstanding but we do have to go by the rules of our company. Have a great day Diane and hopefully in the future we can make it up to you for our misunderstanding.
