Smitty Built-Ins

Had an awesome experience with Smitty. Came to our house and specked out the three built ins we wanted. We inspected them them at his workplace when they were partially completed. We were able to make changes to things we didn't like (made one cabinet deeper and changed a few small things). Everything turned out perfect!

I have not had the money to do the work yet. They were great. They were very timely and professional. They are very prompt and responsive. They asked a lot of questions and listened before they asked questions.

Smitty Built-ins is a hidden gem. I was hesitant to use them, based on the lack of Angie's List reviews, but the photos on their website were so impressive, that I gave them a chance. Smitty (Rich Smith) is a skilled craftsman in the old-fashioned way, a highly responsive businessman, and his work was even better than I had hoped for. He spent hours with me designing a custom built entertainment center, and over the next few days, called me many times to clarify details and to suggest changes that would make the result better. He quoted me a reasonable price, then called back later to correct an error in my favor that I could never have noticed. He is scrupulously honest, and I always felt that he was giving me an honest deal. He let me do an inspection of the rough piece at his shop, and then the final assembly/installation still took a full day at my house. There were no short-cuts. The resulting piece is just spectacular. It is fine furniture, and I am impressed with the quality every time I walk into the room. In my upscale home, I have used many companies that are clearly charging a zip-code premium, but Smitty charged a very, very reasonable price, and I actually would have gladly paid more for the quality. This is high-quality craftsmanship, with a scrupulously honest company. I am thrilled, and can hardly wait for the next project that I will do with them. He worked with my home theater company, Aire Theater Designs (see separate review) to ensure the piece worked with the electronics perfectly. I don't usually submit glowing reviews, but Smitty is awesome.
