He had to come 3 times to determine what was wrong with the ice maker. Then he finally determined that it didn’t need anything and I paid him the $125. It went bad again and by the time out to look again it was after the 30 days so he refused to do anything about it. I told him my annoyance and mentioned Angie's List and he said he didn’t need Angie's List. I asked in to please just fix it at my expense and he refused and just left.
Description of Work: I had him come out to fix my ice machine in my refrigerator.

The tech showed up on time and looked at the ice maker which was stuck on crush and the seal for the freezer. He diagnosed the problem to be an incorrect rod alignment and said the seal was fine, ice was getting stuck in the dispenser flap and that is what was causing the frost build up. He didn't charge anything other than the minimum fee.
Description of Work: Repaired the freezer

Martin Appliances did not service our cooktop, so that aspect of their service may be excellent. What was lacking was their method of scheduling service. We had a new Electrolux cooktop installed by our contractor. A strong smell of propane was present when we tried to use it, so we called Electrolux to get an appliance repair company to come look at it. They recommended Martin Appliance & Repair. The woman I talked to at Martin Appliance was polite and helpful. She told me that the technician that was to perform the service would be calling to schedule a date & time. When I called back the next day because I hadn't heard back, she clarified that the technician would be calling to schedule the day before the next time he was going to be in our area. There was no estimate, or even wild guess, as to when that would be. Maybe he would call tomorrow. Or maybe next week. We were apparently expected to just wait by the phone for however long it took. It's one thing to have to wait for service. It's quite another to have to wait to be scheduled with no indication of how long it might be. We ended up calling Electrolux back and they recommended another authorized repair service who came out and fixed the problem the same day. Martin Appliance called back a day or two later to schedule and I told them thanks, but no thanks.

We waited over a month and called them on a Friday.. The receptionist stated she would have the parts department call us on Monday. This never happened. Last week we called again and asked to have the manager/owner call us. No response after five days. Total time for this non-repair: 2 months. Moving on to another company.
Description of Work: Contacted them about a repair to an oven door. Chose them because of their good rating. On 7/11/2011 repairman gave us an estimate of $125 plus parts and said it would take about 3 weeks to get the part.

Description of Work: I used Martin Appliance and Repair for my ailing clothes dryer. The repairman was prompt and courteous. He needed to check the error code to see if it was the door lock or the computer board but both would have to be ordered. I was quoted a price to replace the computer board which was more expensive than the door lock so I would know how much I would be looking at if it had to be replaced. On the second visit, a week later, he was running late but did call to let me know. As it turned out, it was only the door lock which he replaced in about 5 minutes and my bill was less than half the original quote so I was very satisfied. I will call them again when I need a repair. They were very good.

Ed, who I think is the owner of Martin's, was very punctual and professional. It's clear he's been in the business a long time and I felt he did everything he could think of to fix the problem.
Description of Work: My new refrigerator makes an irritating continual clicking noise. I had two service calls from the place I purchased it from and they couldn't solve the problem - they referred me to the manufacturer. I called Frigidaire and they recommended their service companies. I picked Martin's because it was the only company that was in Angie's List. Their repairman, Ed, came out once, ordered two parts, and came a second time to replace the parts but that didn't solve it. I think the refrigerator needs replacement but Fridigaire requires that the repairman make another call (and talk to their company tech while he's at my home) before they'll consider it.

I was happy with them. This was actually a callback because they had taken care of my dishwasher and I was so happy with that. They provide good follow through, good service and good customer service. The price is fair.
Description of Work: I used Martin Appliance & Repair to repair a part of the unit in the oven.
