Demo old kitchen - update and replace cabinets, counter tops, flooring, and appliances Refinish wood floors - sand, patch nail holes and termite damage, stain, urethane Drywall patch, repair and texture - repair cracks, sand and re-texture, prep for paint (job incomplete, charged full price) Paint interior, trim, ceiling, walls, caulk where needed - tape off, cut in, paint, clean up (job incomplete, charged full price) Replace/update electrical switches, outlets and face plates - (job incomplete, credit given for portion not performed) Replace/update lighting - replace and install 9 lights/fans - (job incomplete, credit given for portion not performed) Bathroom remodel, replace faucet, tile floor, replace toilet, tile shower - job canceled Clean up and replace all items removed for painting - (job incomplete, while there was nothing in writing for this portion it seems reasonable that items removed by crew would be replaced by crew and in good working order and all parts accounted for, this was not the case) Over promised and under delivered, consistently talked up their work and time frame, was told by the contractor that he did the work with 1 assistant. The majority of the work was performed by the assistant unsupervised, and held unaccountable. They started out strong and then within a short period the work and quality diminished to the point of us telling them to wrap up what they started and give us a final bill - we will finish cutting in the paint, replace the electrical outlets, switches and face plate, and do the bathroom remodel ourselves. We asked them to leave. Closely supervise your crew and stop promising what you can't deliver.
Description of Work: Counter tops - Formica was recommended with oak trim. What was delivered was Stock Formica off the shelf no oak, see pictures for quality. Custom Cabinets - was told that the cabinets had to be ordered, what was delivered was stock cabinets off the shelf. Dishwasher - was an addition by us and they reluctantly installed it. We purchased the dishwasher and had it delivered. Time to install was 8 hours per contractor Required 2 people per contractor, Plus 8 hours by Dave and Leo for Dishwasher. Parts included valve copper, fittings, etc, also I didn't add for the 2 hours extra for the delivery of the new cabinets due to the change after the cabinets were delivered. So labor=$760, Parts =$55, dishwasher to install $815. Paint - was told that swiss coffee would look great through out the house. What was delivered was two or three different paint colors one of which was mixed using left over paint from a previous job and two different trim colors, uneven areas around light switches, smudges left on the ceiling. Drywall Repair/Patching, was told "best at repairing cracks" What was delivered was most cracks are repaired however, the patch job in the kitchen looks like a big wave where the counter and the sink faucet meet, there is a long gouge in the hallway, and a couple of spots in first bedroom that were not repaired. Wood Floors, was told wood filler to be used on all nail holes and termite damaged areas. What was delivered was nail holes with wood filler one doorway the rest of the nail holes untouched, nothing injected into termite damage, uneven stain and urethane is flaking up in one bedroom. Less than two weeks later. Electrical outlets/switches - we canceled this portion of the job. Time to install as reported on the original -7 hours, credit for 6 hours. Lighting - were told that they would install. What was delivered was 2 lights installed (we canceled this job and installed the remaining lights ourselves). Time to install as reported on original - 4 hours, 3 hour credit (it took us 3 hours to install 4 ceiling fans, 2 lights and 14 switches and outlets) Smoke detector removed for paint. Never replaced, paint is not trimmed in around bracket. There are no smoke detectors in the house. Now Prep and clean up - we were told every thing would look good. Blinds were removed and put outside during the remodel, we reinstalled them after we cleaned the dust off them, missing parts and bent components. Materials left behind, filled our trash and recycle bins, full dump run was charged. Contractor removed handles for closets to paint, they re-installed but 4 handles are missing. At this point we could not let them continue - we were able to negotiate $600.00 off for incomplete work. Contractor stands behind his/crews work, says they gave 110%, quality craftsmanship for the money we paid.
