It went fantastic. They always get someone out to give me an estimate in a day or two. Their prices are reasonable, and the employees and exceedingly helpful and friendly, from the initial phone call to the service. Bill has worked on my heater and my A/C, and he is wonderful. He was willing to look at other problems in my home, and he even put a new belt on my vacuum while he was there! They repaired my heater asap because they didn't want me to freeze; I had called another place (I don't know why!) and they said they couldn't even send someone to look at it until the following week. I highly recommend Hignell.

Approximately six weeks ago, after hearing their advertisements on the radio I made an appointment with Hignell & Hignell Construction Co. Among other things the ad boasted of a reputation for integrity and promised a free estimate. Shortly thereafter I met with a punctual, professional, and very polite young company representative. We spent over an hour together discussing and prioritizing my remodeling objectives. He reassured me that I was in good hands and when he left I felt confident I'd make the right choice. On his way out the estimator assured me that I would receive a formal estimate from him within a couple of weeks. To my dismay I have yet to receive the promised estimate or an explanation of any kind. Eventually I made several calls attempting to reach the same rep. who had made all those promises a month prior. Each time I called the office a very pleasant receptionist forwarded my call directly to voicemail where I continue to be ignored. I struggle to understand what a company of that size has to gain by abusing a potential client. Requiring the most immediate attention are several very leaky roofs. Needless to say his event has placed me in the unenviable position of having to seek out a Roofer before it begins to rain. Having never failed (by the grace of God), to pay my bills in full and on time, I've managed to accrue a credit score exceeding 850. While I'd appreciate an explanation for this unprofessional, unethical, behavior it's good to know they've lost as much as I have. I thought we were experiencing a recession of sorts but it appears we live in an age where companies can pick and choose customers. I hope this prevents other consumers from falling victim to flashy advertising filled with false promises if not outright lies.

The experience was good from start to finish. They accommodate our schedule well and I trust the people they employ to take care of my home professionally.

Things went fine

I love the Hignell Companies. Everything was smooth and easy from the first call to the billing. When I first called I was greeted by Justin, a very friendly guy. He listened to my situation and clearly explained the services and costs. I've forgotten a bit...but it was $60 or $70 for the hour of labor where they come to diagnose. They sent me Bill, another wonderful, friendly, helpful person. You know those Hignell radio commercials where a girl calls up and a gently gruff father-figure voice tells her that the Hignell Companies will help her with everything around the house? It sounds so comforting (this ad is in fact why I called HIgnell), and the experience matched! I'm always worried that handymen will think I'm stupid because I'm a girl and treat me impatiently or disrespectfully...or overcharge me! Bill exhibits all the qualities we want from our dads/handymen. He was friendly and approachable, as well as very straightforward and honest. He explained what was wrong with my AC, and patiently answered all my questions. As he was almost out the door I asked for advice on what size air filter to get, and he came back in and measured my vents and helped me do some math (apparently 18x18x1 is a really rare size). Bill diagnosed that my condenser fan had gone out. He called in the part and someone drove out here and delivered it to him. I think he even got me a little upgrade on my capacity! The whole thing was taken care of in two hours, and the total cost was $282--162 for the part and 120 for labor. I've had AC problems for years, and I've had some repair or another done every summer, and I've never been satisfied with either the service or the results. This is the first summer that I haven't had to complain about my AC. Thank you Hignell and Bill! The next time I am faced with any kind of House problem, my first call will be to Hignell. They are most definitely an honest, trustworthy, caring company. I don't know if I should write a separate review about this, but I called Hignell when a window broke, and they came out and looked at it and said they couldn't offer any service above what Miller Glass could do, so we would be better off calling them directly. Another company would have been happy to charge us some extra money to be the middleman, but Hignell wanted me to get the best deal for the best service. Finding home-repair providers can be very stressful, what with estimates and reputations. I'm really glad that I have one place I can go to where all of the service providers, even the outsourced ones, have been vetted by Hignell. Now I just need them to expand into dentistry and auto repair!

All in all, I give Hignell high marks for quality of workmanship, attention to detail and making the client happy. They show up on time and stay till the job is done to your satisfaction. All of their employees are licensed, bonded and insured so you don't have to worry about all that. Big thumb's up from me.
