They didn't do the job for me. They came out and their prices were a little high and I found someone who was recommended by BBB and they did an excellent job for my heating and air conditioning and they came in about half the price. They (Right Choice) came out pretty quick after we made phone contacts and then they came out and made an appointment time and then they came out and wrote up the paperwork and that was it. They were fairly quick as far as taking care of it. They came when they said they would.

it was one of those hot los angeles heat waves and my AC went down. I saw the offer on Angie's list, called them. responded immediately, and scheduling of appointment was easy.

I had replaced new air ducting the previous year. I was told at that time the cooling unit would need to be replaced in the near future. In the past I had to have repair done to the heating unit. Since I was going to spend money on new air ducting, I could not spend the money on a new HVAC system at that time. This year I took up an offer by The Right Choice Heating and Air to do routine cleaning maintenance. When they arrived and performed the maintenance work I talked about the possibility of getting a new unit. They went over all the options and cost. A TRANE unit was selected. I was advised to install a automatic shut off gas valve in case of earthquake which made sense to me. I inquired about the attic insulation which had the original insulation from 1972. It was suggested to to upgrade to current insulation standards. I accepted to do so. The removal and the installation of the HVAC unit was done in one day. The removal and installation of the insulation to the attic was done the next day. Everything is working fine. I have notice the improvement with the new insulation. I'm happy with everything that was done.

TRC cleaned the ductwork using a large, portable vacuum cleaner type machine that sucked air out through the vent and they did do a safety inspection of all the furnaces to ensure they were functioning properly. It took them quite a while to figure out the zoning and where the furnace units were - even though everything was in plain sight in my garage. I showed them where the thermostats were and we played around with temperatures and finally figured out that 2 zones were on one unit and a 3rd zone was on a separate furnace unit. We have a third system on a guest house that was more straight forward. It seems like experienced HVAC techs should have been able to do this a lot more efficiently. As soon as they opened the furnaces, they started talking about needing to do a deep cleaning of the blowers since the units were older (one unit is older, the other two units are about 10 years old. It turned out that 2 of the furnaces did not have filters installed on the air intakes (but there were filters at the return vents, so the air wasn't completely unfiltered). I was advised that the blowers were exceptionally dirty, needed to be completely removed and deep cleaned by vacuuming and then cleaning all the blades, moving parts, etc. with an antibacterial solution (Fantastic), then reinstalled. The cost to do this for each unit was $350. I hesitated to do this because it seemed expensive and I was concerned that removing and rewiring the blower motor might be more likely to leave me with a problem (disconnected or improperly rewired unit) then the dirt and dust on the motor. In the end, I decided to go ahead and do the cleaning because they guaranteed they would return to fix any problems that came up. I realized afterward that this is not on the written contract they give you. Of the 6 filters that needed to be replaced, they replaced 2 with the cheapest type of cardboard filter. I was advised to purchase washable permanent filters from them at about $100 each for the remaining filters I needed as they were "not standard sizes". I agreed to the blower cleaning, then searched online and found the exact filters they were trying to sell me for $100 for just $50 online at air-care-filters.com. All the sizes I needed were available as standard sizes on that website without needing to pay an upcharge for a custom size. After they put everything back together I suggested that we retest all the systems to make sure they had got it all hooked up properly again. They assured me that wasn't necessary but I insisted - good thing - it turned out that something had come loose so the unit was blowing air but not cooling and they needed to reattach it. I ordered the filters myself and installed them without a problem. Bottom line - for $700 I now have 3 very clean HVAC systems, 2 new 3 month filters and a much better understanding of how the heating and cooling zones are setup within the house. I think the blower cleaning didn't hurt our systems and may extend their life...I guess time will tell. Interested to know if anyone else out there thinks blower cleaning is necessary and if it should cost $350 per unit...

- I I was so upset when my A/c went out. With not having a winter in southern California this year an A/C was definitely much needed. After talking to a friend she referred me to The Right Choice Heating and Air. I called The Right Choice and they sent a technician over right away. Their technician came and evaluated my air conditioning unit right away, and after having the same unit for about 15 years we came to the solution that it was time for a new one. Their technician was incredibly thorough and went into detail as to what exactly went wrong with the A/C that needed me to replace it. He spent about a couple hours with me from diagnosing the A/C to giving me a great price to a brand new Trane unit which I am incredibly happy with. The installers came the next day and installed my unit quickly, efficiently, and with cleanliness. I have had plenty of work done in my home over the past years and have never met workers like Chris and Louie, so professional and kind. They were diligent and got to work right away and left no mess! After the installation was done both Louie and Chris sat with me and explained how my unit would work and the functions of the thermostat. In all I am incredibly happy with my referral to The Right Choice and would definitely recommend them to anyone with any heating or air conditioning needs.
