Very satified with overall work done and the installers and workers were prompt and professional. I have a few plants destroyed in the insulation process but under the circumstances it was unavoidable.

I went out to several companies for a bid to do the full insulation of my small home (>800 sq ft). I chose Progressive because of their good price and responsive customer service. I had asked about using spray-in insulation because my home is 100 years old and has substandard walls. Though they do not do spray, they got me a quote directly from an installer and passed that on to me as an option. I had my attic, walls and floors done. The crew showed up on time and worked extremely hard and quickly. (Crawl space insulation is not much fun.)

I called them to come out and give me an estimate. When they called back, the person who called me back was very abrasive. When the estimator called, he left a message to call him, and when I did the voicemail was full. We also tried to use them for windows, and the salesman said that he was going to the dentist, and then was too busy to reschedule on the day that I needed him, so I just decided that I didn't want to use this company because the initial contact was not good.
Description of Work: I was going to use them to do both an insulation job and a windows job. I only got as far as trying to get an estimate, and was not even able to do that.

Response from Progressive Insulation & Windows
Dear Angie’s List member, This is the second bad report we have received in two months for the very same thing; “our initial communication and follow-up was totally unacceptable." As I said two months ago, we are fortunate to be very busy right now and taking care of existing customers is always our first priority. In part, due to my concern that our increased business may be yet another short-lived surge, we did not hired any new Customer Service Representatives (CSR) to service it. Obviously, that decision was a costly mistake and again a potential customer had a bad experience. We didn’t get someone to come to your home at a convenient time for YOU. For that, I sincerely apologize. What we should have done was to reassign your project to a different sales rep that could meet YOUR scheduling needs. I started Progressive over 35 years ago and the key to our success, during good times and bad, has always been great customer service, quality products and professional installations. It really hurts when we drop the ball in any one of those areas but, we always try to find ways to improve and get better. When the same thing happened two months ago, I thought we had made the necessary changes to keep it from happening in the future. What we really needed was one more CSR to support the increased business. So, we recently added Ruby Flores to our team. Ruby is a great addition and will be working with Laura and Valeska to support the needs of our customers and those of our Outside Sales Reps to ensure a great customer experience from start to finish. We have also added two new Outside Sales Reps, Michael Jackson and Kyle Melerski to help keep up with the demand.

We have been in our home for almost 54 years, and each winter we freeze even when the thermostat registers 74 degrees. We decided finally to insulate the attic as fully as possible and to replace all windows with double-pane in an effort to get the house warmer in winter and cooler in summer. We solicited three bids. One company representative was cavalier in saying that he had allowed his license to lapse. A second company rep of a firm that advertises broadly in the media made an outstanding presentation, filled with technical details and demonstration, and then quoted a gross price from which he subtracted unsolicited discounts, which impressed us as tacky, before quoting a net figure. Dwayne Dalichau of Progressive Insulation and Windows took necessary measurements and made a simple and direct estimate presentation, including separate costs for insulation and for the window replacements. We were impressed by the low-key approach, by Dwayne's length and diversity of experience in the business, and by his personal history. There was no hype, no nonsense. Soon thereafter we made an appointment for the insulation, and on March 22 Miguel arrived with Noe and Joe. Miguel did the insulation, including an attic area that Sears had told us years before had no room for insulation. Miguel showed us the result. Then, on March 9, Joe, an installation crew chief who has been with Progressive for 17 years, came for final window measurements and indicated manufacture of the windows would take two or three weeks. Mike subsequently called from Progressive to say that installation would take three days, April 3-5. Joe arrived on time on April 3 with Ismail and Pedro. The three proceeded to cover our carpeting and furniture throughout the house and then set about to remove the old windows and door. With a smooth division of labor and not an instant's waste of time, they removed all of our miniblinds and the old windows and door and installed the new on Day One. The protective coverings were removed and work area vacuumed before they went home. Days Two and Three were devoted to interior work, sealing and caulking and washing the new windows and door. Some areas required the cutting of vinyl and wood to assure precise fits. The men worked together congenially. On Day 3, George replaced Ismail and the team didn't miss a stroke. By the end of the third day our house had been transformed by a beautiful professional job, done by men who know exactly what they are doing. Through all the decades in this house, we have never -- repeat, never -- had a team of contracted workers do a better, more thorough job or express greater concern for the customer's satisfaction. After dealing time and again with contractors who fail to show up, who disappear for days in the middle of a job, who find ways to suddenly add to their cost estimate, this experience with Progressive was a revelation. I cannot speak too highly for the company's performance and code of behavior. Our earnest thanks to Dwayne, Miguel, Joe, Ismail, Pedro, and George.
Description of Work: The original portion of our home (1192 sq. ft.) and a family room (400 sq. ft.) were insulated with blown-in fiberglass. Then, 16 windows and one sliding glass door were replaced.

My name is Steve Anderson, president of Progressive Insulation & Windows. I am very glad to hear that you had such a great experience with our company lead by a great project manager, Dwayne Dalichau. Dwayne actually started as a window installer's helper, moved into purchasing and onto sales. This process makes for a very knowledgeable sales rep. Nobody likes aggressive and pushy sale people... especially me. We train our sales team that they are actually a "purchasing agent" to our customers who are the "purchasing manager" they work for. Our (purchasing agent) sales rep's primary job is to help our customer (the purchasing manager) make a good buying decision. If we consistently perform that task, we will earn our fair share of business and get more than our fair share of referrals. You had both our insulation department and our window department involved in your project. With just the team that you mentioned, there was almost 50 years of company experience at your home. I hope that you enjoy the benefits and comfort of the work they performed as much as you appreciated our team's professionalism. Thank you very much! Steve

A neighbor in my townhome community had used Progressive to install her new windows and doors and highly recommeded them. I obtained four other estimates and Progressive's prior to making a decision. Sam, salesman, came to my home 1 1/2 years ago to give an estimate. At the time I wasn't ready to make the purchase...had to save a bit more money. Earlier this year I was ready to move forward and asked Sam to come back. He honored the original estimate he'd provided. However after looking at and researching the windows Sam suggested Amesco, I decided to go with Amerimax windows and doors. The slight price increase was worth it to me for the increase in quality and positive reviews I found during my research. Sam came out to my home twice with samples of different types of windows while I was deciding about the windows; very punctual and professional. The other estimates I received were within a reasonable range quoted by Progressive but the extras provided by Progressive and the level of competence and service made my decision to go with Progressive an obvious choice. I made my final decisions on windows while visiting their showroom. Sam was very patient, honest and detailed in his descriptions of the window and door features and installation techniques used by Progressive. All the extras Progressive uses were so worth it! Progressive uses wooden trim around each window and door. The look is fabulous! The workmanship is great! I adore my new windows and doors. Joe and his installation team showed up on time to the minute and worked hard all day. They covered my beige carpet and all applicable furniture and left no mess. They cleaned the windows and doors to a shine. They vacummed the carpet and floors leaving no mess. Joe and his team took off and reinstalled my window coverings. They did an amazing job. Joe explained how each window and door worked. The screens were adjusted to they latch properly and lock. The level of service I received from Sam, Joe and his team was outstanding! I would highly recommend anyone looking to change their windows and doors to use Progressive with no hesitation. PS: I joined Angie's List to research the various companies I was considering. Progressive's reviews were very positive and impressive in the numbers.

Dear [member name removed], I am very sorry for our sales team letting you down and not getting back to you. Fortunately, we have been very busy and taking care of existing customers is always our priority. Unfortunately, when we get as busy as we are, we risk dropping the ball with potential new clients as we have done with you. To not at least call a new customer back and communicate with you is totally unacceptable. I have talked with our Customer Service Advisors and we have made some changes to hopefully keep this from happening in the future. Thank you very much for your input. I hope everything went well with your home improvement project. Respectfully yours, Steve Anderson, president. If you would like to reach me, my personal cell phone number is (818) 518-6659. Their estimator Ken agreed to meet us on a weekend, even though they usually don't work weekends, so that was a plus. He arrived on time and helped us understand the different options we had to insulate our 1,500 sf home. He was very helpful and friendly. The installers came 2 weeks later and did the job within 3-4 hour hours. They covered the entire interior walkway with plastic that they carefully taped to the walls. They installers were friendly and pleasant, given the hard work it is to work for hours in a cramped attic that is only 5' at the peak. They cut and installed the batts in between the rafters and into most ceiling gaps, but there were a few places especially around the far perimeter that they didn't fully cover with the insulation. They did cut square openings in the batts to properly expose the incandescent ceiling can lights. Although I can't tell for sure, but I think there are some can lights that they didn't expose, and just covered them with insulation because I think I felt a can light under some insulation when I later crawled on my belly in the attic. (I had to go up and reattach an A/V system cable in the attic that came lose during their installation. This was no fun but partly my fault for not properly securing it during my initial installation in the attic.) My hope is that the insulation is installed away from ALL can lights so there's no risk of a can light catching fire! Maybe I should have it inspected...? After they left, I unfortunately noticed 3 can lights that are now slightly pushed down from the ceiling, as if they were stepped on or crushed. The paint and drywall surrounding the can light cracked and you can almost see the adjacent rafter pushing thru the ceiling at one of the lights. It's only noticeable when looking up, but it wasn't there before the installation. There are worse things that could have happened, and in all fairness the installers did actually fix 3 or 4 can lights that were already drooping out of the ceiling, they reattached the clips in the attic to make these lights tight to the ceiling as intended. They get points for that so I'll consider it an even wash. So far the house does seem warmer during cold nights, and cooler during the day. I feel the money is worth it, and look forward to seeing how much cooler the house is this summertime.

The installation went quickly, the installers came at the right time, used plastic drop cloths thru the house. The insulation was a real plus, not toxic, non flammable, made from sand, the web site said, so I was impressed they would be so responsible. On the down side the installers didn't have paperwork for me to pay them on the spot, so I assumed the company would send me the bill. After a month of no bill the company emailed me asking why I haven't paid my bill. We did sorted it out, they sent me the bill. I just got the rebate check, only about almost 3 months after sending the paper work in.

Steve Anderson, president here. I have been working on our internal systems to do a bettter job in our sales department and our administraction support. Thank you for your input. It is extremely valuable and has made us painfully aware of the fact that every aspect of our customer's experience is extremely important. Our reviews show that we do a great job installing our products so they perform as designed which is most important but, we need to do a better job in all areas for a complete customer experience. We were quite happy with Progressive Insulation & Windows. I found them on Angie's List. We dealt with the president of the company, Steve Anderson, at the beginning. He did the estimate. He came out several times to double check on the reports that people had given him. They were great. Steve Anderson was very responsive. All the reports that I found on Angie's List about the company and Steve Anderson were true and accurate. He coordinated with the company that worked on our AC system. I would use them again, but hopefully I won't have to.
Description of Work: We used Progressive Insulation & Windows for an energy upgrade of insulation. We did a major energy upgrade and he helped us take advantage of the energy rebates that California and Los Angeles were offering. It combined the insulation that they did and also another company they referred us to that helped us with our AC system.

They were very professional from start to finish. The prices are fair, but the service is excellent. Estimator came on time and explained all options well and without any pressure. Installers were kind, curtious and clean. If I had a question they were more than willing to take time to answer my questions. They even called an Air Conditioning Co. they had worked with in the past and got them out to my house the same day my A/C went out. They did all of the paper work to get my DWP rebate processed and in MY hands. Overall a very good experience.

Thank you so much for recognizing that price is important but quality, performance and results are critical when insulating your home. There is no other reason to insulate your home than to get the desired results. The only way to do that is to "do it right" and that takes exra time and a little more money. In my humble opinion, you should invest a little more money to get a quality insulation job or, keep the money in your pocket to pay the extra energy that you will use when not doing so. Respectfully your, Steve Anderson president.

Progressive Insulation and Windows worked with me from start to finish. The entire process began with Dwayne Dalichau the sales consultant/account manager who assisted me (along with other Progressive staff) throughout the entire project. While doing a service home call to request the installation of French patio doors, Dwayne informed me about the Energy Upgrade California (EUC) program. Since I do all my research before hiring a company, I discovered that Progressive was not only one of the top-notch companies (licensed for their specialty) for insulation/windows but learned that I could benefit from the EUC program if I proceeded with the installation process immediately (I had not planned on purchasing windows or insulation materials for a while but the rebate incentives pushed me to act immediately)--I had initially agreed to only insulate the house but added windows when I discovered how much money and energy could be saved by purchasing windows as well. Since I received other estimates during this time, Dwayne/Progressive not only beat the estimates by hundreds of dollars but provided a higher quality insulating Milgard Window. Once all the written agreements were signed, Dwayne and the crew went into action calling me and scheduling the work around my schedule. Insulating the entire home was the first project and took approximately 2 1/2 days. The window installation occurred approximately 2 weeks later and took 2 days to remove and replaced 11 windows. The crew spent a significant time with preparation and laying drop cloth and sealing off rooms to prevent dust and exposure to possible lead dust/poisoning. During the installation of the aforementioned services, Dwayne and the owner stopped by to check on the progress of the job. I really felt like a celebrity as their visit helped me see that I was getting the best service possible. As of now, all projects have been completed and Progressive has exceeded my expectations--and I am hard to impress. Progressive also pulled all permits and scheduled the city to inspect the windows as requested. Thank you to all the staff who assisted with this process: Dwayne, Joe, Pedro, JC, Gabriel, Steve and Yadira. I will update on the status of the upgrades, rebate process, and administration follow up by Progressive once it is all completed. Hopefully Progressive can assist with information/services to get green point rated/certified.
Description of Work: Progressive Insulation and Windows was the best home improvement company that I have ever hired. They insulated the attic, all exterior walls, crawl space, hot water pipes, air sealed all HVAC ducts/registers, replaced 11 windows with Milgard Tuscany 3D Max, and conducted pre-test/post-test energy assessments (Blower door test, Duct Blaster test, etc.). Progressive provided a pre-test home energy assessment report which detailed the worked needed to be performed to obtain a desired level of efficiency.

I had three separate Angies List windows companies do estimates on my condo. All had their pros and cons. I chose Progressive because they weren't hard selling a brand of window, but convinced me that I would be in the best of hands with regards to the installation of the windows. I can only say that when other contractors who do window installation have visited since the work was completed they have stopped and complemented on the new windows trim work. I think this is due to the strength of the Progressive crew. They were clean and trained to know how to communicate with their customer. They also really seemed to enjoy and take pride in what they do. I can't say the same for all the contractors I worked with on other aspects of my condo. Judging from my comparison research, the Progressive quote was competitive if not a small bit more than some of the other quotes. I feel their workmanship was superior and I got what I paid for...including peace of mind. Dwayne is is a straigt shooter, who knows how to keep a strong line of communication with his clients. I always felt informed by Dwayne and Progressive delivered all their service points as promised. I did my own research on window brands, but Dwyane also was very informative on the types of brands.. Would definitely recommend for future work.
Description of Work: Needed 12 high efficiancy replacement windows and sliders and new attic insulation for a newly purchased condo. Dwayne Dalichau was my Progressive Rep. and performed the estimate for both jobs. A separate crew came out from Progressive and performed the work. Dwayne did a follow up visit and walked me through all the completed work. The Progressive crew also kept me in the loop regarding their progress. Both jobs were completed as estimated and on time.

!My home was without insulation for years, and the air condition unit was struggling to keep it cool without running constantly. It was re commended that I use Progressive Insulation, so I called them. The service manager was clear and concise in his detailing of what the work would entail; he explained all of the options available, said how long the procedure would take, and was very friendly. THe workmen came on time, worked carefully and cleaned up very nicely. The insulation has been wonderful, and my air conditioner and heater are now working much more efficiently and for a much lower price. I am very pleased with Progressive Insulation, and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing this service
Description of Work: I had no insulation in my attic, so Progressive recommended blow in insulation as the best remedy for the cost efficiency (the HVAC) and the price of the insulation. The workmen arrived with the materials exactly on time, blew in the insulation in about 2 hours (3 tops) and cleaned up everything afterwards. I thought the noise would be awful,, but it wasn't and neither was the mess. However, the product has lived up to its promise in a big way. This has been an unusually warm fall, and the air conditioning unit has been able to really cool the house at a much lower cost than before.

We discussed the type of insulation needed for the attic and under my house. They did a great job. They came in on a Saturday in the morning. They left and showed back up when they said. It took 2-3 days total. The workers were very nice, courteous, focused and professional. I enjoyed their work. Their pricing was reasonable. They followed up after the work was done to make sure everything was sealed correctly. I recommended them to my neighbor!

It went fantastic. Being a designer, I'm what others would call picky. I was completely impressed with their level of craftsmenship and professionalism. Although the estimator was really cautious about installing a window in the third floor, I was able to speak with the actual foremen about the window installation, and he was able to make it happen without incurring additional costs. They cleaned up and even did complete touch up paint on the work. I didn't have to do anything. My windows are beautiful, I literally feel like I just moved into a new house. They even did an incredible job making sure my windows were flush with house, despite the uneven and wavy stucco that existed before. This was the best decision on a remodel I made on my house. After seeing other types of retrofit, I never expected these to look better than I could have imagined. Will definitely hire again when I need to replace my patio doors.
Description of Work: Progressive replaced 9 single pane cracked 1960's era windows in my house with up to code aluminum retrofit. I initially wanted to do complete window replacements, but after looking at all the city of LA code requirements for my area, it was more cost effective to go with retrofit with Z-Bars. Ken was very patient with going back and forth with the style of windows we were looking for, and having to deal with a third story window installation. It took us a while to make the decision, but when we finally did, it was the best one we made. They were also very accommodating when we had to schedule an inspector to check on their finished work.

It took three days to complete, but worth it. The crew was on time everyday, they cleaned up before they left, and over all our home is so much cooler now then in the past summers I can hardly wait to see what the winter will be like. I know it was a little bit more then I wanted to spend, but today, on this 100+ degree day, my AC is set at 77 degrees, my home is nice and cool and my AC is hardly working as it has in the past. So that being said, it is paying for this up grade. I also received a energy credit of $200 from the gas company.
Description of Work: We had the old insulation removed from the attic and knee walls. Installed 1-2inches of closed cell foam on attic floor and knee walls. Installed R-13 unfaced fiberglass batt in attic knee walls, wired in. Installed 7 recess light coverings in attic. Installed silver shield-radiant barrier in roof rafters and on gable end walls. An older home, once we moved in it was apparent we needed an upgrade of insulation in the attic. After having a few companies come out to provide quotes, the gentleman from Progressive was the most professional and knowledgeable. They were not the cheapest, but I felt more confident they knew what they were doing. It took a few months for us to get everything ready for the insulation (HVAC installation, electrical work, etc). When we contacted Progressive they were able to pull our quote and confirm the price was still good. We gave the green light and they were out within a week. Installation was done in a few hours, even with the painful way our attic was laid out. They made sure to clean up after as well, something very few companies understand is an important part of the work being contracted for.

They returned and completed the work in excellent fashion. Steve Anderson and Michael Oscal came to my house and made sure the work was completed to my satisfaction. I am very happy with the completed project. This is the second time I have used Progressive and would use them again. I recommend them to everyone.

I found them on Angie's List. My experience was good. I wouldn't say it was great. The owner calls you back, which we thought was great. It says a lot about the company. I would use them again. There was a cosmetic problem. They spilled some stuff in the house. The ratings said that they were so clean, but I would have to say that that was not the case with me. They left a lot of dust out in the garage where they cut down the pieces. We let them know, and he apologized. He was very helpful in that way. We got a good deal. There were communication issues when they came to measure.
Description of Work: I used Progressive Insulation & Windows for the windows on the entire house.

Over all they did a great job. When they cleaned out my attic and I was impressed with that. But when I hired them I tried to get some rebates back from the LA county. They were suppose to follow up with this but they messed it up a few times. One thing that they were suppose to do was take before pictures of the attic in order for me to receive these rebates. They did not do this. The air sealing product was also actually spilled on my air ducts and I wasn't happy about that at all. They also punctured a whole in one of my new air ducts. My biggest complaint of all was that after the work they did I called the sales representative for an estimate on some shutters. He came out and did the measurements but never followed up with the purchase. I was going to give them more business but never heard back from him.
Description of Work: They removed my old insultaion and installe dnew insutlat. also did attic air cesling.

Our house was built in the 1940s and had no attic or wall insulation at all. After enduring five hot summers in the house, we finally decided to get attic insulation. While shopping around, we contacted Progressive for a free consultation. A few days later, George, our salesperson, visited our home. about 2-3 weeks prior to service. He inspected our attic, house and property. After this, he talked with us for a good 30 minutes to answer all our questions about insulation, pricing, and their service. He was very friendly, professional, and never pressured us. Because George left a good impression, we decided to go with Progressive. We decided to go with blown-in insulation (R-30 rating) for our attic and a solar attic fan. When we signed the contract, George gave us a fair price.About 2-3 weeks later, a service team came to our house and did the work in 3-4 hours. The service team stayed focused on the job and George visited that same day to check the team's work. They cleaned up their work area and left things in good shape. About a week later, we noticed there was minor damage on our bedroom door -- most likely caused by a ladder when the team was setting it up for attic access in the adjacent hallway. When we mentioned it to George, he immediately scheduled a personal inspection. He returned to our home, took a look at the damage and offered a few repair options. He offered to repair for us (patch up the scratch and repaint the door) or compensate us. We asked him to make the repairs -- and he arranged for this within a few days. After repairs, the door looked good as new.Overall, George and Progressive did a great job. They were always easy to reach, willing to answer questions, and took time to explain things in detail. Moreover, George gave us helpful advice on getting energy rebates for our new insulation and attic fan. With attic insulation, our house is much more comfortable in the summer/winter and our energy bills have gone down. Even months later, when I called George with more questions about rebates, he still returned my calls and emails on a timely basis. I recommend George and Progessive for insulation work.If we decide to insulate our walls in the future, we'll contact Progressive again.

Overall, my purchase went fairly smoothly. We did question some of the original window measurements and they begrudingly sent someone out to double-check the measurements. Even so, one window was delivered in the wrong size. The new window was delivered and installed without further misshap within two weeks. The finished job looks fantastic. Our salesman, Sam, helped smooth the communication with the production office and the billing office was extremely helpful and flexible. I wouldn't hesitate to order again from Progressive or recommend them to others.
Description of Work: Progressive installed replacement windows in about half of my house. The windows are fabulous -- they look fantastic and perform even better. The installation job was top-notch; I believe far better than any other local competitor. The installation crew was extremely friendly and, apart from trampling on some flowers in my garden (perhaps unavoidable), they were very professional and cleaned everything up nicely. My salesman was also very helpful, although he swore he already gave me the "best possible price" and didn't honor the Angie's List discount. The company is extremely concerned with making sure they do everything right.

We had a very good experience with Progressive overall, from their sales rep Dwayne to their scheduler Sam and the installers Ismael and Pablo. Dwayne, in particular, was very responsive to all our questions over a period of several weeks, when we were trying to decide which brand of windows to buy. After much online research and a visit to Progressive's showroom, we eventually ended up back at his first recommendation, Amerimax windows. Progressive's quote for the windows and installation was slightly higher than competitors', but we decided to go with them because they seemed very, very professional. Dwayne is a really good sales rep, and he gave us confidence that his company would do a good job and take responsibility if anything went wrong. We also liked the fact that Progressive specializes in insulation, because we wanted our new windows to be as efficient as possible. During the installation, Ismael and Pablo were very polite and worked quickly. They laid down tarp all over the house, moved furniture, and restored everything to its original state when they left. They did leave a few screws and other small parts around, and some paint chipped, but nothing major. One minor concern was that once the new window trims were installed, there was not enough space to replace the window blinds on two of the windows. Luckily for us, these were blinds that were from the previous owner, so we were not very attached to them. But if someone had been counting on using the same blinds, they might have taken issue with this. Other than that, the windows trims look great and are real wood that is painted white. The windows slide smoothly and are just great looking. Their office was very good about after-sales service also. Sam has been following up with the city to make sure the permit went through and Dwayne helped us get our windows registered with the manufacturer for the warranty. Progressive gave us quality windows and did a quality installation, and we plan to recommend this company to friends and family.
Description of Work: Progressive installed 14 vinyl windows in our house.

Response from Progressive Insulation & Windows
Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a complete review. I don't always have the time to reply to each Angie's List report, as I should but, I just had to say a quick "thank you" for your kind words. Progressive has a great reputation because of our people. We're not perfect but, Dwayne is right when he tells you that if we do make a mistake we will most definitely do everything possible to make it right. Satisfied customers generate over 80% of our sales through repeat business and referrals. Thanks again and thank you for your business. Steve Anderson, president
