About us

Los Angeles Shutter Company was founded by combining the talents of 2 long time industry leaders. Shutters and More was founded in 1966. A long time manufacturer and retailer of custom wood shutters to the Northern Los Angeles market. Over the years it grew in size and stature in the marketplace. In 1999 it was purchased by a general contractor Barry Sable. WoodMart was founded in 1956 as Howard Shutter Company on Balboa Avenue in Van Nuys, California. It served as a primary supplier of interior and exterior shutters for the growing San Fernando Valley area north of Los Angeles. In 1972, it was sold, expanded, and moved to a new location on Arminta Street. The name was changed to The WoodMart. In 1995, it was sold again to the present principle owner Dick Decker. Mr. Decker had over 10 years of shutter manufacturing experience with other, large manufacturers of custom shutters and louvered doors. WoodMarts emphasis was changed to manufacturing for the trade only in order to better serve the growing national shutter market. Over the last 14 years, Woodmart expanded and in 2007 the entire operation was moved from Arminta Street to the present 48,000 square foot location on Strathern Street, still in Van Nuys. The Los Angeles Shutter Company puts together the strength of Shutters and More and their ability to design and install shutters with the shutter manufacturing expertise of WoodMart and is ready to serve your shutter needs.

Barry showed up on time and was very cordial when doing the measuring. He gave me a quote on site and was ok with me getting other quotes. Gave me good advice on what to ask other contractors. I ended up using another company based on their presentation with samples and options I felt that I didn't get with Barry.....
Description of Work: Called their CSC# and spoke with Claude who scheduled Barry S. to do the estimate for five windows that needed shutters...
