Crew arrived on schedule, did work exactly as requested, and worked quickly. I was well pleased with service.

I am really, really pleased. From the estimate and cost, to the performance of work to the incredible cleanup afterward, I couldn't be happier or recommend them more.

Our first contact with Brazee was summer 2015 when he came out and gave us an estimate to do a major cut back on a pair of huge pine trees growing on our hillside 100 feet behind the house. These tree were over 70 feet tall and had not been cut back in over 10 years. He gave us an estimate of about $2000, plus was going to take off 10% for Angie's List. He did say that the trees could not be cut in hot weather as that could result in infestation of Japanese Bark Beatles which would kill the trees. I was aware of this and agrees to call back in the fall to schedule the work. In January 2016 I called to have the work scheduled and we had set a date for February 16 to have the job done. (That date was selected for my convenience.) Unfortunately, on January 31, 2016 we had heavy rains with high winds the trees pulled from the ground and fell directly on the house. These trees were so large the when we drove up you could not see the house, only the fallen tree that covered over half of the house. This was a Sunday. We took immediate action to be sure all of our family was safe and find someplace to stay with our dogs. I left a message with Harold saying what had happened and asked if he could call me. He called back and meet me at the house by 8:30 Monday morning. Knowing this was an emergency and wanting to help and prevent further damage, he cancelled several other jobs and had his team there by 9:30 am. It took 12 guys, a ton of equipment, and two days to cut and remove the trees from the house and yard. Harold also dealt with the insurance and completed the forms necessary to allow us to be reimbursed for job. Considering what was involved and the excellent work performed, I have no issue about the amount charged. Harold and his guys responded quickly and efficiently and help elevate a very stressful situation. I will use Harold for any future tree work needed and strongly recommend him to anyone who wants tree work done right and at a fair rate.

The guys showed up on time. There were 8 of them -- they were all over it, cleaned up and out in 1 hour. There was a lot of dead on the tree and I was worried about it's health, but they cut off all the dead wood, trimmed it into a nice shape, and I'm very excited about my healthy tree coming back like gangbusters in the spring. Thanks Harold and Team! Oh -- they were so fast and professional -- they put the DWP and Los Angeles City Tree Trimmer guyss to shame with their work ethic and "get it done" attitude. Maybe the City and DWP tree trimmer guys (and their bosses) should take some work ethics lessons from Harold Brazee's team.

The whole process was great. Harold, the owner, came in person for the initial consult and quote. Crew arrived on time on the scheduled work date. All worked efficiently, safely and professionally. Everything went without a hitch and the crew did a great job of cleaning up after the work was finished.

It was a great experience from the time Mr. Brazee gave me the estimate until the crew let the premises. Everyone was professional, worked quickly and cleaned up thoroughly.

Harold's crew came on time, did a great job, and left everything spic and span. They were polite and conscientious, making sure that cars and other things were out of danger from falling branches, etc. The quote I got from Harold was well below all of the other companies I spoke with and it encompassed more work on the property. Harold spent time explaining which trees needed trimming, which didn't, and clearly knows his business. I will definitely use them for all of our tree trimming needs in the future. Couldn't be happier. Even our regular landscape service (whose bid was well above Harold's) acknowledge that the job they did was above reproach.

I had a great experience with this provider. Office staff was very polite and helpful, and they were very responsive to my requests for quotes and service. The owner came himself to provide the quote and patiently answered all of my questions. They provided the most competitive quote for the work I required as well. The crew was very efficient and safe. They quickly and safely removed two large trees from the property - one that was pressing against a neighbor's garage roof - without any damage or mishap. The crew was very conscientious about cleanup, even brushing boot prints off of my driveway once they were done. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

We actually chose another tree trimming company from Angie's List however they couldn't do the job so they referred us to Harold Brazee. The receptionist was pleasant and efficient and the estimate was fair.They arrived on time on the day that we agreed to and finished the job quickly. We couldn't give an excellent rating for quality only because the other companies we have used in the past cleaned up a little more but still it was very good. No complaints, it was a good experience with a good company..

Perfect -- approached this with some hesitation because trees were in a planter next to a pool and outdoor furniture, so were were worried about damaging surrounding area, mess, etc. Shouldn't have -- the work was done without any damage, they cleaned up after themselves, and they were very fast and efficient. It was a pleasure to watch how the rather large crew moved like a team -- everybody in motion doing their individual tasks, while the guy up the tree feed them sections of logs as fast as they could haul them away. Harold was pleasant to work with, the price was less than we anticipated. I will definitely use them again!

I highly recommend Harold and his crew. We had a 25' tree in our backyard that had to come down (as well as several smaller ones in the front yard) and Harold came to give us an estimate himself. He went over everything with us, answered all of our questions about not only this, but future work we were thinking of. Then on the day, he came first thing in the morning with his project managers and went over exactly what was supposed to happen with us. When the rest of the crew arrived a bit later, they were able to get started right away-there was no delay while conversations were had about the scope of work. They removed the trees, ground the stumps, and removed all debris from the property. They were professional, safe, and didn't waste any time. They knew just what to do and did it. And we never had any doubt as to their expertise in safely removing that monster tree! Harold has many years of knowledge and experience and we will definitely hire him again when it's time to do the next thing.

They were fast and affordable. They cleaned up and there were about ten guys there so the work only took about an hour. With most companies it would have taken about three hours to finish. They came out and did a quote for me before they did the work too.

Mr. Brazee's crew did a decent job but I had to come out and point out places they had missed even though we had initially discussed the requirements in detail. They showed up on time, were nice, and cleaned up well. The cost was on the high side and the cause was explained as not only the job requirements but also the high cost of workman's comp, etc. insurance. I have since found someone else with this same insurance coverage, etc. who charges much less, does a wonderful job, and shows up on time. When I did have to remove some trees I did shop around and picked people from Angie's List to get price quotes. Mr. Brazee's quote was the highest at $1650 higher than the vendor I chose.

I think these guys are fantastic. I use them every year and I can't say enough good things about them. They make it look so easy.

Harold was very knowledgeable, came on time. His crew was fast and efficient, cleaned up well. The only negative was that they did not remove all the dead wood from some trees.

Harold Brazee did a great job! This is a very professional company. In addition to their good service, all of the workers wear uniforms with the Brazee name, a must in Santa Monica. The company provides the assurance that all employees and covered by liability insurance which is an important requirement when the workers go on to the neighbors' property. I trim both side of the hedges between my property and my neighbors. So the crew has to go on to the neighbors property. Not only am I happy, the neighbors are happy, too! Trimmed, neat and clean!

Great experience start to finish.

In brief: The job was not completed to my satisfaction and the job foreman disregarded my request that he complete the work for which I contracted with the company. Details: Initial contact with the company's office was smooth and professional, and an estimate was scheduled to take place within 5 business days of my call. The initial estimate was $1,900 to "Prune 1 large elm tree in front yard, raise to clear roof." I was not present for the estimator's inspection, so I sent a follow-up email to the company stating my desire to have the tree trimmed back from the roofs of two residences (mine and my next door neighbor's) and to clear several utility wires. There was no response to my email, so I called to follow-up and was told my message had been mistakenly disregarded as spam. I then spoke directly to the estimator, Mr. Brazee, and we discussed my goals for the tree-trimming project: most specifically, that the tree would be cut back from the two roofs and that the utility wires would be cleared. Mr. Brazee advised that it would take a 4-6 man crew 3-5 hours to perform the trimming and clean-up, and that the work would be supervised by a foreman with 20 years of experience in the industry. The $1,900 estimate seemed high, but it was comparable to another company's estimate in price and a significant improvement over that second estimate's time frame (1.5 days for trimming and clean-up). As an Angie's List member, I was accorded a 10% discount, bringing the cost of the job to $1,710. The job was scheduled for a date 5 weeks later. The office stated that I would receive a call by 8:00 a.m. on the day of the job letting me know what time the crew would arrive. On the job date, I did not receive the expected telephone call and had to call the office and leave a message requesting the work crew's ETA. Some time later, the office returned my call, apologized for a mix-up in their communications that morning, and advised that the crew was en route. Roughly 7 minutes later, the crew arrived. The 5-man crew worked for 2.5 hours. For the most part, the job went well. I had concerns about cut branches falling onto and bouncing off of utility wires, which happened several times, but to my knowledge no damage to the wires occurred. The problem arose toward the end when the lead trimmer/foreman stopped work and asked me to approve the job as completed. I requested that a few branches left dangling down into the patio be trimmed up. I also reiterated that the branches growing over the roofs of both houses needed to be cut back away from the structures. One of the workers made some further cuts to the branches over the neighbor's home, but still left growth overhanging that roof. As to the branches over the roof of my home, the foreman refused to do any further trimming. When I asked him to cut those branches back away from the roof, he looked at them, told me "It's fine," and then he walked away. Shortly thereafter, the crew packed up and left. Conclusion: In summary, I am fairly satisfied with portions of the job, but wholly dissatisfied with the foreman's dismissive attitude and the company's failure to complete the work and make cuts I requested. Branches that I specifically needed to have cut (including two which cross each other) were left encroaching the roofs (see photos). When I asked the foreman to cut them, he disregarded my request. This was a major disappointment. I have more tree work that needs to be done, including complicated jobs involving another Chinese Elm and a multi-trunked Mulberry. I had hoped that Brazee Tree Service would become my go-to contractor for tree maintenance, but its performance on this job left me seriously displeased and unwilling to use them again.

Harold R Brazee Tree Service did a really nice job. The trees were shaped nicely. They did a good job and took care of grinding the stumps. They cleaned out very well. If you average out the costs, the pricing came out a little bit on the high side but close to some of the other estimates.

I was worried that my two trees were so overgrown, that the Santa Ana winds approaching in October would collapse them on to my neighbor's property/cars. Harold responded to my request for an estimate within a couple of days. His price was comparable to other estimates I had received from people who were not bonded or insured. I appreciate that he is an arborist and felt confident that he knows trees and how to take care of them. Harold was able to do the job within a couple of days. His crew did a remarkable job. Not only are my trees trimmed back from my neighbor's property, but they look more beautiful than ever. The cleanup was amazing too. You'd never know that they had taken away so much. I am going to use them again next year without any hesitation.

Showed up promptly and wasted no time getting set up and right to work. They worked continuously but not too fast to miss details or cause damage to our gardens or yard. Clean up was perfect.

They did exactly what Harold said would be done. I plan on calling them for hedge work soon. I would also like to say that Harold is a really great guy and the men that did the work we all nice.

Mr. Brazee met with me and provide me with proof of his insurance. He listen to my request and made suggestions. He explained what he intended to have done and why. The crew arrive early, worked efficently and clean up thoroughly. I am very pleased. I have used his service subsequently. I highly recommend him.
