If you don't care about damage to your property, hire them. If you do, you're better off looking somewhere else. We hired Rene and his team to treat our oak from a beetle infestation and trim the oak and a small olive tree. When they arrived we asked them to take care of our brand new gate when they take the branches out. We even offered to cover it, but they declined reassuring us that they're professional and they'll take care of it. After they left, we checked the gate and lo and behold there were tons of scratches all over it. Although we have video (!!) from the security camera clearly showing his crew dragging the branches over the gate and even slamming them into the gate, Rene refused to admit that his crew did the damage on the pretense that his crew denied it because the branches were wrapped with a tarp. Yes, the branches were indeed wrapped with a tarp, but the ends were still sticking out of the tarp and dragging over our brand new gate. When confronted again with all our video evidence and a close up picture that clearly shows FRESH scratches, he claimed the crew said the scratches were already there. After which he completely refused to respond to any of our follow-up calls or emails. We have no complains about the actual tree service performed, but I am appalled that a company refuses to accept liability for damage they cause to personal property, despite asking for more than $1000 to treat and trim 2 trees.

Steve called to tell me that the free estimate with Renee would not occur with out a "consultation" fee. And offered a bait and switch for free with someone else. When I offered to wait for another convenient time Steve refused that option. Judging from the above reviews maybe it was a blessing in disguise.

The guy who initially came out was on time and good to work with. He gave estimate and we scheduled time for work to be done. He said he would be on site. Instead his manager Steve was onsite. He showed up and the left. I specifically asked him to make sure that the sprinklers and lawn weren't damaged. When they removed tree - they broke the Sprinkler line. Steve never can back until it was time to collect the check. Had to have them come back out and repair the damage.

The company did an ok job on the tree trimming but when our new tree began to turn brown just a few weeks later we were concerned. We called Alfonso, he came out to see the tree, acknowledged the issue and said it needed to be replaced. We made an appointment for the following week but Alfonso did not show up. We called several times and he never responded. This was extremely frustrating and I would never use AC again.

I've had several tree service companies work on my Chinese elm over the years, with varying results. One really butchered the tree; a couple of others did better, but it always felt like getting a haircut from a cheap barber -- no discussion of how I want to look, just start cutting and hope for the best. So this time, I went out my way to find a company that was a certified horticulturalist (if that's the correct word). With AC, the experience was quite different than before. When the guy came out for an estimate, he discussed the shape of the tree and asked what I wanted it to look like. He explained how it was growing, showed me what his crew would do and why. On the day of the appointment, the crew showed up on time, along with the guy who had done the estimate (he supervised the job). They sent a guy way up to the top of the tree, working further out on the branches than anyone had done before. They used a ladder to get up into the tree rather than climbing with spiked boots, which always leaves marks on the trunk (this was a big plus for me). The first cuts were very small, just tiny branches coming down. They worked meticulously on the tree for almost four hours, thinning and shaping with great care. They cleaned up the site nicely, picking up every last leaf and sweeping the whole street in front of the house. I am very satisfied with the result. The tree is very nicely shaped now, with enough leaves and small branches on it to thrive through the hot fall weather. I would recommend AC Horticultural for this type of work and plan to use them again.

Overall, AC Horticulture's awful customer service is our biggest problem. Phone calls were rarely, if ever, returned. When their employees punched a hole in our screen window while servicing our sprinkler system, I was told I'd hear back from someone about the damage. To date, I've yet to ever get a returned call, much less an offer of a solution from ACHM. We ultimately decided to cancel our service with them when I called to schedule a tree in our backyard to be trimmed. I was specific when I called, saying that it was the largest tree in the backyard and that we'd need to unlock the gate for the work to be done since IT WAS IN OUR BACKYARD. When I called on Thursday to follow up with the call I'd made on Monday of the same week, I was told the tree had already been trimmed. Long story short, they came onto our property and trimmed a tree in our front yard instead of the one we'd called about. At this point, I realized ACHM's customer service and communication is so lacking that it prevents them from delivering the level of quality service they'd led us to believe they would provide. I canceled my weekly service immediately. They sent me a bill for early cancellation even though it was their mistake. After complaining to the BBB, they responded by lying and saying that I told them to cut the tree in the front. They are also lying and saying that I never told them about our damaged property They are being dishonest and claiming that I've tried to get discounts and get out of paying. They've also threatened me and told me they would put a lien on my house I didn't pay for the tree trimming.

They accommodated my scheduling needs. They came on time with 8-10 guys and banged the job out very quickly. It was impressive. They broke a sprinkler line with the stump grinder but repaired it immediately. Their clean up job was pretty good. I wouldn't say excellent, but overall, they did very good work.
