Description of Work: We received 3 bids through Angie's List to paint the exterior of our home, and based on the professional demeanor, references, and friendliness from the estimator (Paul), we chose Dream Painting. We wanted them to paint the wood siding/trim on our home, paint the large wood covered-patio and cupboards by our pool, and paint our garden shed, plus paint the stucco on the house. The first day, the painter, Juan, came, but was unable to start his powerwasher and so left after 3 hours. Juan came the second day and powerwashed everything. The next few days, Juan came with either one or two helpers. When Juan was present, the two helpers worked hard, but if he had to leave, little was done. The worst was the extreme amount of trash left. Our front and back yards were littered with water bottles, beverage cans, empty caulk tubes, plastic, paper, tape, razor blades, and even containers/packages of half-eaten food! (The hamburger sat on our patio table for 2+ days!) All windows, sliding patio doors were covered with plastic - for over 3 days the only way we could enter and exit our home was through our car garage doors. On the fourth day, (or 5th if you count Day 1), we had to ask them to please pick up their trash - it was literally blowing down the street. Besides all of the trash mess, we had a lot of damage to our property: large azalea and camellia bushes completely crushed, other branches broken off and stuffed back into the bushes so we could not see it until later, 6 solar path lights broken, sprinkler heads broken off at the base, metal hose guides broken, hoses with paint smears on them, and paint overspray on many bushes. Juan kept telling us that he was done, but we had to continually point out places that needed more paint or a second coat, places that were missed, etc. We also had quite a bit of paint drippings/overspray on our cement which Juan powerwashed on his last day here, but now we have "squiggle marks" all over where he washed. All in all, it took 7+ full days to complete all of the work. On the plus side, Juan was always friendly and polite, did not complain when we asked him to redo places, and worked usually from early morning until after dark. We contacted Dream Painting about the damage, and we first were told that they would send Juan back out to "fix" the damage, even though we weren't sure what it was he could "fix" - things needed to be purchased and replaced. Dream Painting then made an appointment to have our original estimator to come back out. Paul was extremely apologetic, stating that Dream Painting had much higher expectations from their workers, and offered a deduction on our final cost of painting the wood, the stucco, the large patio, and the garden shed. While we were very appreciative of how professional and apologetic Paul was, we cannot recommend this company. All in all, our final painting job is beautiful, but we had to continually check several times per day on the quality of workmanship, plus we still have to replace many items. All of our neighbors are looking elsewhere to have their homes painted.
