JC Landscaping

On 11/3/12 we paid a deposit of $150.00 to have our driveway cleaned, all cracks filled, and all sealed. After a few failures to arrive as scheduled, on 12/12/12 they came and cleaned the driveway with a power washer. They were in the yard all day to do this. Spent a lot of time walking around the yard talking on the phone. At Jesus' request, another $134.00 was paid, to pay for the filler needed for the cracks. They were to return that week to fill the cracks (allowing driveway to dry). They left one of their work trucks in our driveway without asking permission. My husband chose to let it slide. It's been too long to be very precise about any more dates, but after more failures to appear on agreed dates/times, the crew returned to fill the cracks. Again spent all day, with lots of comings-and-goings, and as it turned out did not complete that part of the job. Mid-way through that day after seeing my husband drive away Jesus came to me asking for more money. I declined. Said he'd have to take it up with my husband. When finished, they left behind the work truck, the sealant mixer, the power washer and several tools. Again without asking. Several tries again to get them to return to do the sealing. They came with more equipment, dropped it in our driveway, left one lone worker behind while the rest of the crew left. That person set to work on some (very loud) repair project on some piece of their equipment. I had to ask multiple times to get Jesus to come back, and to get the guy to stop. Jesus returned saying he couldn't do any work until whatever the malfunctioning part was was fixed. They left that day not only leaving their equipment again, but a lot of broken glass all over our driveway. They never finished the job. The came and removed their property at times when we were not at home. We called and called. Whoever was answering the phone acted like they did not know who Jesus was. But it's still the same number you have listed here. Hard lesson learned.

"Buyer Beware". (No business license & does not advertise as such for jobs over/under $500) Trust me I know better, but after watching this landscaping guy & his crew come in our cul-de-sac & work on 2 other homes first, I felt confident. Jesse, the owner? is a very personable salesman... I must say. FRIDAY Work started on a Friday mid afternoon 3/2/2012 with a small crew - he leaves crew on premises - they don't speak much english, if at all - making it difficult to communicate with anyone but Jesse - "Mr JC" (I presumed) - he does no actual work himself. At end of first day - he asked for over 1/2 payment up front, against our original agreement - but I gave him $500, written to JC Landscaping. It was an an awful start. Beautiful front tree, limbs hacked off, some broke - dead limbs remained and overal trimmed incorrectly. This was the case with every tree & the hedges in front. They left their tools in the backyard & the truck, with all the branches, etc. parked on the street. SATURDAY one worker showed up by himself at 8:30 am, worked all day by himself. - little got done. By late afternoon, Jesse, returned, with another guy - who helped clean-up what little there was, while Jesse continued trying selling me jobs; concrete patio, rain gutters & monthly maintenence (2x/mo for $75) He then asked for the remaining balance. Note end of this day - everything was touched... NOTHING was finished, and he was asking for payment in full. I was taken aback, and yes, I wrote a check for payment in full - made to ANOTHER company name!!! RC Landscaping!! As he told me I had written first check incorrectly? I told him I had better see him the next day... with payment in full, I was not happy. He assured me "He was not like that". SUNDAY -No one showed, no one called & messages were left to the number on biz card - no return calls. I have a dog who needs to be kept inside while gates are open. I was trying to find out what time I could expect someone, should I/could I water the lawn & gardens. He never returned any of my calls - so I stopped payment on the second check, left a message to this fact as he broke our verbal agreement & I needed to hear from him - we still had his tools. ( I waited 2 full days. Sunday & Monday, feeling like a hostage. I couldn't leave, having no idea if anyone would show up needing to get in the back yard. ) The front & back were an eyesore & I was getting so upset, I felt I could pull a full grown palm tree out of the ground with my bare hands and finish all that was promised would be done. MONDAY the only thing that happened was two guys came in a car, one drove off in the truck that was parked for two days. No intention to come & work on property & finish the job. My husband called at 4:50pm & Jesse called back in 10 minutes!!! My husband fired him, telling him to come & get his tools. No apologies, reasons for no show/ no call were given. I warned our next door neighbor on Sunday, 11 am - showing him shoddy work done, hack jobs to trees, etc & that still no one had called or arrived to finish - I wanted to spare anyone else from being taken by this scamscaper as he is no landscaper. Well, my neighbor also fell for his charming personality - and accepted a bid for this company to clean up the front yard for them - small yard, VERY LITTLE to do - and overbid. I learned Monday morning, from a family member, work was to have started on the Sunday - like me - no call/ no show- and he hadn't even started yet! Well- they did not fire or un-accept the bid from this guy and he pretty much has done the same thing. We watched as a small crew came, worked about an hour (you really could not tell anything was done), left the tools and the truck -that was Wednesday - they did not return until today, Saturday - 1 guy. I was told I could contact Jesse 24/7. Not true, nor does the ability & care taken to services done show workers he sends know anything about landscaping. I felt my yards were a training ground - and the was no rhyme nor reason as to how the job flows - again - everything was touched, remaining in a half finished state - looking like we don't care at all. TUESDAY - I had to call to find out when Jesse was coming - he didn't answer and I called again very frustrated - stating I would call the police at the end of the day to find out what I could do to not be responsible for these tools left behind. Also - it had to be Jesse who came - I couldn't release these tools to someone, only to have him come back & say I owe him for something or all. When he finally called He still tried to keep'finish the job - I told him he'd been fired, please - come get his tools & what time could I expect him. End of story with "JC Scamscapers" dba JC Landscping I have since hired my usual guy - whom I have used for years for tree service. I will be leaving feedback for this landscaping business - The owner has never failed me. Why didn't I call him for competitive bid? I couldn't find his biz card & really got caught off guard. Watching this crew work for the other two neighbors... it seemed on the up & up - when I look closer at their yards - JC Landscaping didn't even till the soil of the gardens, let alone kill or remove weeds. Their trees are also hacked, dead limbs remain & well - it's sad. PLEASE - BUYER BEWARE! You will get much less than what you pay for, if you get anything beyond grief. And honestly? I am not entirely certain how this man is? If the tools he leaves behind are even his... it's sad, but I do not trust him at all - so I am suspect of every move he made now.
