They were extremely professional. We paid for the $250 consultation, and I feel like we go tour money's worth. Lots of great ideas, and realistic discussions about what we could do with our budget. We made a trip to their "yard" where we could see some more ideas and options for materials. We were set to go, but due to circumstances out of our control, our budget for the job disappeared. I am hoping that we have a chance to work with Hansen again in the future.

his estimate was 33% higher than the person i decided to use. he was unwilling to give me a breakdown for labor and materials so i could decide if i wanted to make changes in my plans.

They were profession and punctual. The work was done incredibly fast. All those that we interacted with from the Owner to the Project Manager, Foreman and his team were friendly, accommodating, and flexible. They took the time to patiently answer and address my endless questions and concerns whether via email or phone or in person. In order to keep cost down my husband and I decided to do the irrigation ourselves and to put off the backyard project. Overall, we were very pleased with the service and work provided us.

Two men showed up on time and got to work. They cleared, trimmed and cleaned the yard. They filled our green waste container and their small trailer with trimmings.

Hansen's is a great firm to work with. They have a model of almost all the work they do at the Hansen location in Castro Valley. They are highly rated on Angie's list and you can tell why when working with them. He spent about an hour with us going over all the ideas and choices in his showcase. We had them come out and draw up plans for us. We gave him a $10.000 budget and he prepared a plan for us. However. to get everything done on the plan would be about $14,000 and we liked the full plan which included lighting, big boulders and other accents. I am sure the yard would look great. They also come back and check on you later and replace any plants that have issues and make sure it is going well. They also offer a quarterly service to keep it maintained. We would have done the work, but decided to prioritize a better kitchen remodel versus the yard, which might be a better home value return than the yard. I would highly recommend using Hansen's. I think they are on the high side, price-wise, but I think you get what you pay for. It might be good to get a couple of quotes to verify. When we do decide to spend money on the yard, I think we will use Hansen's.

Pretty basic gardening. Mow high grass on small front and back yards. Trim a small tree. Trim some bushes. This person came, and not very friendly, simply said they won't do the job. No clear reason why. I asked how much they would have charged if they would do it, and they said $1500. I called a few other gardeners, no one else had an issue doing it, estimates all under $1000, I think I got it done for $400.

I got an bid from this provider. It took a long time to set up the bid, but when I did get ahold of him he was very professional. However, he told me to get a landscape designer, because I was asking too much of him on the design end even though I knew exactly what I wanted. I hired a designer that he recommended (who was too expensive), and then when it came down to doing the actual service he wanted to charge me almost twice as much as every other landscaper....without and explanation as to why he was higher?! I ended up using someone else, who wasn't the cheapest and they were GREAT! In the end the landscaper who did my yard told me I didn't need the designer (!!!) and they even suggested a few things which were much better than what the designer wanted to do.

Two of the landscapers cost were to much one landscaper said they do not do any job under 3,000.00 dollars.

We were just finishing a major remodel of our home in Livermore. Half of the landscape was stripped bare. We taking bids from landscape contractors for a design and budgetary quote. We first visited Hansen Landscape "show room" property. It is beautiful and give one lots of ideas. Steve met and spent time with use. He was very gracious. As the remodel neared completion, Steve and his construction foreman visited our property and discussed our requirements. While we would have liked working with Steve and his crew his budgetary quotes were just too high with no wiggle room.

I have been very happy with them. They are very good. They are not the cheapest, I could have gone with cheaper, but the work was so good, reliable, and punctual, which I understand is a problem with a lot of contractors.

Hansen Landscape was wonderful. They have a very good workmanship and they have excellent people to work with. They're very honest with coming and project manager was always on the side. I would recommend them. They're high but they have quality work.

They did a fantastic job. Their pricing was per hour and they did a very reasonable job. The pricing was good. What I like about them is the quality of their work and the accuracy of the estimate. My friend actually setup an ongoing contract with them to do maintenance.

Getting an estimate was a smooth process. They needed a few weeks to schedule the work, but the work was done in a quick, professional manner. We love how everything looks.

We used these guys for a complete overhaul of the front yard. They also installed a sprinkler system, and we are using their gardening service twice a month. Very responsible, job done well, on time, cleanly.

Very professional from design to completion. Workers were pleasant and hard working and they took pride in their work. Always on time, cleaned area everyday, very responsive to concerns.

In response to my call, Hansen Landscape started sending me emails advising me of all their great services. I requested they quote a price for performing a job designed by my landscape architect. Steve Hansen's email reply was "hi Ben our approval rate for projects that are already pre designed is almost nil. So at this busy time of year, we will respectfully decline from quoting your project at this time." I consider this rather a rude reply. Does this mean their bids are always too high/expensive ? I guess I will never find out.

It went great. We had used Hansen's in the past at a prior home. We were so pleased with their services that we called them to landscape the front yard of our current home. Steve Hansen came out, listened to what we wanted, surveyed the area and gave us a quote with a design. We were pleased with the design and felt the quote was in-line with the services they would provide. Steve's crew showed up on time and worked very hard. The Project Manager called or e-mailed daily to let us know the status of the project. If we had any questions or issues, Steve or the Project Manager responded immediately. Exemplary customer service. The project was completed on time and the final outcome is beautiful and exactly what we wanted. We highly recommend Hansen's Landscape Contractors and we will use them for all of our future landscaping needs.

Due to the drought situation here in the bay area, my wife and I decided to remove our grass lawn and replace it with lava rocks and some drought resistant plants. We wanted a contractor that is Diamond Certified and we came across Hansen Landscaping. We liked the other projects we saw on their web site and decided to go with them. They are friendly, courteous, and very professional. We discussed what we wanted and they formulated a plan to complete everything in a single day. Once the job was finished they said they will be out to inspect the work on a scheduled basis (1 week ? 2 weeks ? 1 month and 3 months) and if we had any problems to let them know. In addition, EBMUD offered us a rebate for converting our lawn to help with water conservation. My wife and I enjoyed working with Hansen Landscaping and look forward to using them again in the future.

Our experience with Hansen Landscape Contractor has been excellent. They are not done yet but so far so good. They show up on time. They take their lunches and break some time. They clean up after they leave. Everybody is very professional and courteous. It is excellent. They return phone calls and emails. If they wanted to meet with us or for us to go down to their office or they come to the house. The supervisor Lewis is supervising our job and he is excellent. They are very expensive but what they are doing is expensive work too. They are doing a good job and they are doing a lot of work. I would absolutely use them again in the future.

It went well. They were a bit high in price, but the quality was good. We will use them again if we have any other projects.

Our experience with Hansen Landscaper Contractor exceeded our expectations. Steve and his team are total pros, and the whole experience was very pleasant. Steve's process is simple and effective: he recommends a visit to his showyard, which is beautiful. The showyard is a great idea, because it provides a good mix of the types of plants and materials that he typically works with, and do well in a Northern California climate. It's also good for people who might not be familiar with landscaping and gardening to start visualizing what they want (I had a good idea, my SO didn't, and it was helpful for him.) Steve then chats with you about your ideas and the next step is a home consultation, the cost of which is applied back to your project if you sign a contract. The $250 seemed reasonable, and we were pretty sure we were going to select him, based on his Diamond Certified status and BBB rating (at the time I was researching landscapers, I hadn't joined Angie's List). He and Peter came out to our house and gave us great ideas and formed a solid plan, including solutions for an awful drainage problem we had. We decided to go ahead with drawings, which were $750, and ours to keep whether we contracted with him or not. Steve was open to plant suggestions and patiently worked with us while we sorted out the features that we wanted in our landscaping. We settled on stamped concrete for the patio, front walkway, and side yard (home of the drainage problem), an entirely new backyard lawn and planting beds, new planting beds in the front yard, updating the sprinklers in the front yard, and installing a new system in the back, accent boulders, and a splurge on landscape lighting. Steve also made suggestions that saved us money, like refreshing the front lawn rather than replacing it, and working with the existing front yard sprinkler system rather than installing a more expensive drip system. Steve answered all our questions and reworked details on the drawings several times until we were happy with them. The drawings sailed through our notoriously picky HOA?s approval and final inspection process with ease. Steve sent us a contract, which was quite detailed, and I recommend reading it thoroughly and comparing it to the drawings. We had a few corrections, and they were handled quickly and pleasantly. Our total project cost was estimated at $45K, and Steve came in right at budget. Our timeframe was two weeks, and went like clockwork. The demolition took one day, and then the concrete work started. His concrete subcontractor is excellent, and totally fixed our drainage problem. Jack, our project manager, explained everything that was going to happen, so there were no surprises. Steve, Peter, and Jack were always available to answer questions and there were literally no problems with the work. They were done on time, and on budget. There was one small change order, but we'd been advised of the possiblitiy even before we signed the contract, and that came in under budget. Choosing the concrete color was a bit of an adventure, and we were advised upfront that we needed to be visionaries, so we did a lot of research. We carefully chose a neutral tan color, and were delighted that the final color had a rosy tone to it - which was exactly what I wanted. Once the concrete was done, the new lawn in the backyard and the planting beds went very quickly and it wasn't long before our property looked absolutely gorgeous. The lighting, in particular, was a large percentage of the budget, but well worth the cost, and we get many compliments on it. Our property looks like a resort at night, and extends our ability to use it after the sun sets. Steve and his team use excellent subcontractors, and the quality of the materials (lighting, plants, wood, bark, hardware) are first rate. His designs are lovely, and tailored for your property. Our backyard is not large, but his design gave us more useable space, and is beautifully balanced. I can't speak highly enough of the crew and their friendliness and professionalism: they answered all questions, made excellent recommendations, and left our property neat as a pin at the end of each day. I was also very impressed at everyone's attention to detail and project management skills. And customer service is their top priority. We felt that we were well-cared for and that our project was important to them. Communication was excellent and we felt were were kept apprised at every stage of the project. I also feel comfortable contacting them with questions if they arise in the future. It's true that Hansen is on the expensive side, but when you consider that his team has been with him for many years, and he pays them a good wage with benefits, you see the payoff in a smoothly running operation committed to excellence, and devoted to your project. He also provides a generous guarantee on his work and materials. We were so pleased with Steve?s service that we contracted with him to provide gardening service, and the guys have been just as expertly attentive to our landscaping. They're also cheerful, friendly, and leave us nice notes. We had a wonderful experience, and now have the tranquil garden we always hoped for.I recommend them unreservedly.

The vendor had done our original major landscape project ten years ago, and the time had come for it to be refreshed and updated. As before, the vendor provided initial meetings with an estimator and the project manager for the purpose of planning and contracting the scope and details of project. Vendor is sensitive to owners' preferences regarding type and location of plants, selection of ground cover materials, and irrigation issues. Vendor kept to schedule that was agreed upon. On-site work crews were timely, polite, unintrusive, and thoughtful. Work was finished within originally stated time frame. Excellent attention to detail, daily clean-up, and final review. Materials (ground cover and plants) are top quality and well installed. Price for services is relatively high compared to other bids, but we have used this vendor before and were willing to pay more for the consistent quality of their guaranteed work, which includes four follow-up visits. Vendor has several different ongoing maintenance programs available, one of which we plan to purchase. It is noteworthy that several key employees involved in this refurbishing project were also involved in the original landscaping of this property ten years ago, and that the original work has held up beautifully for over a decade with only routine maintenance.

The contractor completed the job within the specified time scheduled (2 days). They were very good at what they did and answered questions when asked by myself. The communication at the time of estimate, during the project, and after was excellent. Very professional in the way they did the job and the contractor met my expectations. Cleanup was an A+. More than what I wanted to spend but I felt the job warranted the expense.
