LICENSE #726641. COST DETERMINED BY JOB, NOT THE HOUR.
Description of Work: They put a glass block window above our window air conditioner in the living room. It went perfectly. Highly recommend this contractor.
Description of Work: I requested a handyman with electrical experience. I sent photos of the jobs I needed done. 1) replace an electrical appliance cord and electrical wall outlet 2) hang three (3) identical ceiling fixtures 3) mount a wall hook for hanging clothes on 4) remove and replace two (2) screen doors and 5) add toggles to secure an exterior mesh closure and 6) secure a kitchen table top. While the handyman did extend the 6 hours to 10 hours, he was only able to complete Items 1, 2 and 3 and partially completed installing one of the screen doors. I believe that the handyman had very limited skills in the specified areas that I needed which resulted in his not being able to complete the tasks in a timely manner.

Response from Handyman Contractor
The craftsman we had on this project has been with our company for about 8 years and has about 20 years of experience in the field. Considering the customer only paid for 6 hours of service and not a price based on the scope of work she wanted completed, we felt we went well above and beyond what is reasonably expected. We obviously worked very hard to satisfy this customer, so I very disappointed in the review, especially only getting a 'B' on the price when the customer received 10 hours of service for only $199 which is frankly unheard of for a general contractor that is licensed, bonded, and insured. The fact that we took it upon ourselves to put in extra time to make sure the job was done right and not just done quickly should be considered a positive, not a negative. Regards, R. Description of Work: 1st visit: Installed ceiling light, fixed frayed wire, hung outside blinds & repaired an outside string lights for my 89 yr old mom. After talking and watching him work I was convinced he would be a wonderful contact should she need anything done when I'm not there as I live out of state. |2nd visit: Emergency call. Toilet overflowed from an unseen plug in line and defective parts and ran during night. He responded to my mom's call immediately!. Fixed the issue then vacuumed the carpet on his hands and knees to get up as much water as possible (luckily clear water). He is one in a million and will recommend him in a heartbeat!

Description of Work: I bought the 6 hours of service for $199.00. I expected him to get more done. I had a list for him. He was 20 minutes late to begin with but wanted to leave 15 minutes early, not including the the time he was late so he actually tried to leave 35 minutes early. He did NOT seem to know what he was doing. I had a list for him & to start by moving some tile in a container to a storage shed then to move some paint cans to the shed. I had a nice dolly for him to use. I had stacked the tile & paint near the side garage door & showed him where to put it in the shed but I had to tell him 3 times where to put the paint & where to put the tile which I didn't think should have been a complicated task. I asked him if he knew where to get unusual drawer runners for a bathroom drawer. He didn't but kept insisting that he go to Home Depot & look despite being told that I had taken them & pictures of the inside of drawer cabinet to Home Depot & they had nothing like that. He didn't go but I had to insist that he not go. I asked him to install garage cabinets that came in large pieces & it was clear that he was in over his head. He didn't know what he was doing. It took him most of his time to install them. I called the company & talked to his boss & told him that he didn't know what he was doing but they said he did. I don't agree. It shouldn't have taken most of the 6 hours to install them. After he left I went to the garage to look at them. There were a lot of screws left laying on the floor & that concerns me. He said he didn't attach them at the bottom. But there were still a lot of screws. When I opened doors a lot of the shelves popped right out. i had to spend an hour securing them. |When he finished the garage cabinets I had asked him to put up some curtain rods. I had wanted 4 of them put up but he was so slow that he only got 2 put up. Then he was ready to leave. I had to keep reminding him that he came late & now wanted to leave early & that he still had @ least 30 minutes. I asked him to balance 2 ceiling fans. I had the balance kit. He didn't seem to have a clue as to how to do that. So I asked him if he even knew how & he said yes but I followed him back to the master bedroom & he was calling a woman at the office named Shirley, probably the receptionist, & asking her how to do it & she was trying to tell him then I could hear a man on the phone talking to him as well. He didn't do what he should have done. He didn't try to balance each blade, etc. He just put the weight on a fan blade & moved it around until it quit shaking as badly then he wanted to leave it there. I told him that one doesn't leave them, it is removed & weights put on the blades where needed once it was balanced. I had to insist so he just stuck a couple up there & luckily it worked. Then he went to the family room fan. He kept looking at his watch. He just put the stabilizer on the blade until it stopped shaking, didn't want to put any weights on because he looked at his watch & wanted to go even though he still had 5 minutes so he left the stabilizer clip on the fan. I would never use these people again. His boss didn't care that he didn't know what he was doing. What kind of a general handyman doesn't know how to balance a fan? I could have done this better myself & would have if I weren't disabled. They probably deserve an F.

Response from Handyman Contractor
I'm disappointed that the customer felt she had a negative experience. Unfortunately she makes several assumptions that are just not accurate, but perception can be ones reality. For example, the customer made repeated references to the time because she had paid for 6 hours of service and rightfully wanted to get the full time. However, she felt that we were trying to leave early. The truth is that I had given the craftsman strict instructions to put in over the 6 hours to ensure that the customer's items were completed. I even communicated this to the customer at the time, however, the customer seemed convinced in her preconception no matter how many times I told her that we would do what it takes. Also, the customer had the perception that our craftsman didn't know what he was doing. In reality, he is a craftsman with over 20 years of experience in the field, he has been with company going back to 2003, and he has completely over a hundred projects with our company alone. He is experienced and knowledgeable which is why I hand picked him for this project. The customer must have misunderstood a phone conversation that she overheard because the craftsman never called into the office to ask how to do a job, and we don't have anybody on our staff named "Shirley" or even something similar. I specifically remember dealing with this customer and this project. We made every effort we could in order to satisfy the customer both through the work and through communication. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, that proved to be difficult. Finally, I believe we were graded unfairly on this project as shown by the grade for the price. This was a special limited time promotional offer of $199 for 6 hours of service. This is an exceptional price for a licensed general contractor, and yet, we were given a D. As I said in the beginning, I am disappointed that the customer didn't feel satisfied because we try to do everything we can to leave our customers happy with our service. This is why we have a written guarantee and 24/7 live customer service to make ourselves available to put in any extra time needed to satisfy our customers. -R. Description of Work: Howard was great!! He did minor electrical work and he installed a motion sensor light outside. As a handy man service I found that normal prices are quite high as this is a "contractor" and thus the high prices--did not mind the 6hrs for $199 though and great service was performed!

Description of Work: I paid 199 initially for the 6 hours of services,, but I had two new doors that needed to be hung and this required a second partial day. I had smoke alarms installed, a screen door removed, cable and wires removed from walls outside, fence boards attached, toilet seats installed, towel bars and toilet paper holders installed, and many other things the handyman noticed needed help. He worked very hard and even saved me some money by using a towel bar I already had and exchanging one of the prehung doors.
