Dish Network

I have been using them since they started providing the French channel in the late 90’s. I work as a linguist, and the reason I have that channel is that it keeps me abreast of everything that’s going on, that’s a nice way to get the information, so, as soon as I heard about it, I subscribed to it. The companies have been changing, and I was very upset with them for a while, because while they were changing companies, we had poor reception, and they were still billing us for things we didn’t get, so we had some problems. That was several years ago, now things are smoothed out, but when I threatened to cancel the subscription, they said that they would charge me $100 as cancellation charges. I did not sign any contract with them when I subscribed, and they have changed companies so many times that if I did have a contract, it would not be binding. They are changing the rules of the game to their advantage, but they are the only ones offering the service, so I don’t have a choice.

We are stuck in a contract now which they did say we could get out of. We called them to try and do it but never heard from them again. It has been horrible. Their hardware and software is really bad. The way they do their pay per view is really stupid. The prices are comparable. They have Google TV integration but they charge extra for it. The quality is not really high compared to Direct TV. They use contractors for service work so the people who come out are pretty decent and punctual. The customer service staff is not so professional.
