Greg and team did an amazing job on a remodel of several rooms in our house including our kitchen, living room, bathroom, and bedrooms. They placed tile floors and carpeting throughout the house, put in new recessed lights, installed a bifold patio door, textured and painted walls, replaced and relocated our furnace, replaced our stair railings, and completely remodeled our kitchen. His team was great to work with and the quality of work met or exceeded our expectations in all parts of the house. We are especially pleased with the tile floors, railings, bifold patio door, and kitchen which are now statement pieces in our house. Greg did a great job managing the periodic material availability or vendor delay issues that come up with big projects and notified us quickly if things were different than planned. His work on the inside of our house was so good we brought him back a couple years later to completely redo the yard and exterior of our house.

We contracted with Gregory James Inc. to complete an extensive renovation of our 1950’s home (including a garage conversion to an AUD) and we are glad that we did! Greg and his crew were professional, ethical, hardworking and, believe it or not, fun to work with. We could trust Greg to be on time and to not leave the site until everything was clean and orderly. This thoughtful act made living in a “construction zone” much easier for us. When Greg came to us to make one of the numerous decisions along the way, we knew that he was giving us the straight scoop. We never felt as if he were trying to “up-sell” us. His knowledge of all the crafts required to complete a project like ours made his advice and suggestions very valuable. I cannot speak higher of Gregory James Inc. I recently had my original wood siding replaced with Hardie fiber cement board and fiberglass insulation. I had talked to many contractors who wanted nothing to do with my small unfun dirty project. Greg and this team took on my project and never once maybe feel that it was a waste of their time. They addressed my concerns and never tried to talk me into something that I didn't want. They showed up on time and worked the whole day regardless of the weather and how difficult the product was. We’ve worked with Greg Mayer on two major home projects, and he has consistently proven himself to be our contractor of choice. After a flood in our Leucadia home severely damaged our kitchen and bathrooms, Greg stepped in and completed a full remodel, including new kitchen and bathrooms, new flooring, and moving plumbing. The quality of work and attention to detail was exceptional. We hired Greg again for an even larger project—rebuilding our home in Cardiff. This was a complex undertaking that involved tearing the house down to the studs, adding 1,000 square feet of new living space, including two new bedrooms, bathrooms, extending the downstairs living area, and adding two fireplaces along with three outdoor fire features. This project required meticulous coordination with the Encinitas building commission, as well as complex electrical and plumbing designs. Greg handled everything seamlessly. Greg has always been easy to work with—accountable, timely, and honest in every dealing. He was transparent about costs and level of effort, and was always fair with pricing on change requests. Greg did an incredible addition job for me! I couldn't be happier. I had my master bedroom/bath enlarged in the back of the house and more than doubled the living room in the front as well as a completely new roof. There were a whole bunch of other things such as repairing the butcher block island in the kitchen, adding motion detector lights, getting solar on the roof. I am a pretty picky person and wanted things done just so and Greg and his crew came through for me. I had a closet system installed in the master bedroom, and all sorts of specific things such as the bay window in the living room, the built in bookcases in the living room, and the extra wide bathtub and other gizmos in the master bathroom. At one point when I asked for an outlet to be raised so I can reach it if I end up in a wheelchair someday, Greg said that was why he enjoyed working with me since I am retired and could ask for such things in a timely fashion. No, he meant every word! Greg made certain that safety was a top priority for his team. They spent time each and every trip making certain everything was tidied up and safe before leaving. At some points, Greg advised me against some things that would have cost me more money than reasonable which I appreciate. All of his subcontractors clearly knew that to work with Greg meant that they communicate with the client and that they kept safety as a priority. Greg kept a close eye on the schedule. The contract specified 3 months after the plans were approved by the City and construction was done by then. There were a few minor hiccups, more due to my confusion in contacting EasyClosets than Greg's. Greg even came in several Saturdays himself to work to make sure the construction stayed on schedule. I couldn't be happier with the final results! Greg paid close attention to my wishes and he believes in doing high quality work, not just sliding through and finishing it any old way.
