Rob and his crew came in and hung drywall in our house last week. Let me start by saying that I'm a pretty particular/picky homeowner as it comes to having people do work for us. This drywall job was not a very straight forward application, as we live in an old post and beam house. The interior walls were previously clad in 6 inch tongue and groove cedar siding, so after i pulled all of the siding down Rob had to butt the drywall back up to a number of very large round telephone pole vertical supports. I was worried about how well he'd be able to fuse these transitions up, if it would look sloppy, unfinished etc.. He pulled it off beautifully. His finish work was meticulous, beautiful and spot on. The one issue we did run into was that on the second day I noticed that he was finishing the walls with a slight texture which I didn't realize that he was going with. I was under the impression that we would have perfectly smooth walls in the end. He showed me the contract which clearly stated "smooth textured finish", which is essentially a smooth finish with slight texturing here and there. I indicated that smooth is what we wanted. This confusion was on my part. He immediately switched up his game plan and started pulling a tight skim over the entire surface to achieve the perfectly smooth finish that we wanted. This change of plans added a number of extra hours to the overall project, but he happily did this for us because he knew this is what we wanted, and furthermore he never even hinted at wanting extra money for the additional time spent on the job. I had taken the week off to get a major painting project done at the house while he was out there, so I spent a lot of time working side by side with he and his crew. What great guys. They were a pleasure to be around and I really enjoyed seeing them do what they do. A good team who I would trust with any size of project, and would refer to anybody who needs help in this arena. I have flooring, trim and counter tops going in over the next couple of weeks and will proudly add pictures of Rob's work to this review when everything is complete. Thanks Rob for a job well done!

I am very pleased with Rob's work. He was very understanding when I needed to reschedule due to a problem on my end. He arrived on time and we went over the work. He pointed out some areas in the garage that were improperly built (a door and window where the studs stuck out too far) and he suggested some things he could do. There were many other obstacles in the garage: electrical wires on the studs, a shelf in the way, washer/dryer and hot water heater. He found great solutions for all of these. He and his assistant worked all day, and at the end, the garage looked great! The ugly mess of broken drywall, studs, wires, shelves, and malformed doors and windows was transformed into a showplace! My neighbor came over, her first words were "I'm jealous!" She wanted his card to hire him. Rob coached me on the right way to paint it, which we did successfully a few days later.

Rob came the day after I called him to give me an estimate for the job. He actually had time to remove the drywall that same morning. The next day he sent his assistant to complete the job. His work was excellent. The texture perfectly matched the existing texture of the wall. Once we had the wall painted, you could not even tell that a large repair had been made. Both Rob and his assistant were very professional and personable. I would definitely use Dunn Drywall again.

I had several holes in my living room ceiling and bathroom wall due to a plumbing leak from the upstairs bathroom to the downstairs living room. I called Dunn Drywall after reading several reviews in Angie's list. He was right on time, very professional, cover everything around his work area, so there was no dust outside the area. The work looks great and ready for paint.

I wanted the texture to match the three bedrooms that was done a couple of years ago. The living had been painted over a very poor quality plaster/texture job. Mr. Dunn made the estimate in person and honored the Angie's List discount. He estimated two days to do the work because he had to cover the existing surface with an type of universal "mud" that would stick to and cover the existing paint and that would also allow the textured plaster to stick. He left a fan blowing over night to dry the undercoat and returned the next day. On wall had a very poor sub surface and the mud actually loosen that material. The next day on his return, he found that the whole wall was basically peeling off. He removed the entire wall surface, re-mudded teh raw surface with a new oil-based material, let that dry and the textured over that. He also carefully removed the ceiling fan and recessed light bevels. The results were astonishing when I got home from work the second day. It was a beautiful, clean, sharp texture that matched the other rooms and was exactly as I had hoped. Again, I was amazed and pleased with the work he did. I was unaware of the extra he had to do on the one wall until he returned on the third day morning to walk through the job. We walked the room and he suggested areas that needed caulking when the painter would come. He protected the furniture and the floor and left the room spotless. Definitely recommend highly Dunn Drywall for any drywall/texturing work.

Rob and his crew came out and were early. They the drywall in the morning and completed the taping, prepping and texture in the afternoon. Rob was professional and answered all of my questions. He even took the time to demonstrate how to hang drywall on another project I was having problems with. I would hire and recommend Rob's company.
Description of Work: As a result of water damage due to a water leak from an appliance, I had to replace drywall on several walls in my home. Rob came out to complete the estimate and was on time. His estimate came right on the insurance adjuster's cost reimbursement without having seen the the estimate from the adjuster. This indicated to me Rob's cost was right at the market rate. I did not bother to look anywhere else.

We had a whole house fan that was letting hot air out in the winter and in in the summer. It was old and poorly installed so I ripped it out. We had Rob come in and drywall over the whole and match the texture of the ceiling. He did a great job! He was on time and very courteous even asking if we had pets and if he could leave the door open to bring things in and out. He got everything set up and started prepping. He moved the couch below to keep it clean and put down plastic to protect the floors. When it came time to spray in texture, he built a cocoon to prevent the over spray from making a mess. He then did a thorough job cleaning up. The work itself was great and you can't even tell where he patched. If I need any drywall work done again, Dunn Drywall would be my first call.

Joe Chapman arrived exactly at the time of the scheduled appointment. We discussed some options in this job. Matching the texture of the drywall with the patch verses drywalling the entire bathroom. He assured me that the texture of the patch would be very similar to what was there and that the drywall he used was actually a thicker grade. He then went to work diligently and completed the job in about 3 hours. He was very professional the entire time, being very patient as I continually kept penning my dogs that kept ecsaping. I paid him the beforehand agreed price minus my Angie's List discount. I've come to understand that Joe has been doing drywall for eight years. When he was finished I could not tell the patch from the original. Thank you Joe for your high quality work!

I called Dunn Drywall because of the high praise from so many people. I had a unique situation with a custom home theater cabinet project that required adding 1" and 3" drywall margins to different sections of an existing TV niche. The project required some very tight tolerences so that the custom cabinetry would fit into the existing wall area. Rob came out on the very same day I called him. In fact, he showed up in a fomal business suit and explained that he was coming back from a formal event he attended prior to visiting my home. I was highly impressed that he would end his long day by coming over to my house and looking at my unique sitution. Rob went over what he could do and recommended some ideas that might help out. In order to be certain of what was needed, he talked to the custom cabnet maker who was needing the drywall add in order to complete the custom AV wall cabinet installation. Rob called me back the next day and confimed the date/time for his visit to complete the work. It turned out that the best time was a Saturday morning and Rob came to my home exacly on time. In fact, he called 1/2 earlier and asked if I was interested in having him come earlier than planned. He got started at 7:30 AM and was done withing a couple of hours. His work was absolutely perfect. I couldn't believe how seemless his work was to the rest of the existing wall. The only way to know that he was there, was the fact that the drywall was not painted. His texture matching was perfect! The job called out for a 1/4' gap in the margin he was fabricating in order accomodate the top mantel of the home theater cabinet that was going to fit in. The cabinet install went perfectly. In fact, Rob's work was so precise that it didn't leave any wiggle room for the cabinet maker's specification. Once the cabinet was installed, there was a small area that needed touch up. I called Rob and he came out to patch the small area within the next day or so. I should mention that he did this follow up job free of charge! He wanted to make sure I was happy with everthing and insisted that he complete the patch work. What can you say about this level of customer service. It's so refreshing to work with a company that really cares about your satisfaction. Rob is detail oriented and really knows what he's doing. He kept his area very clean and made sure the house was spotless when he left. Very nice touch! I highly recommend Dunn Drywall to anyone looking for high quality workmanship and professionalism. Nice work!

Robert and Joe installed cement sheetrock to cover cinderblock walls in the bedrooms and a huge L-shaped hallway. Because these were cinderblock walls, he applied masonry sealant first. Robert demolished the existing tile and over one inch cement mortar (an unanticipated surprise) in the tub/shower surround in the two bathrooms. A herculean task if there ever was one. You could tell from the look on his face that the bigger the task the more resolve he summons to get it done. After removing the wallpaper, he called in a bathroom/tile specialist to put up hardibacker cement board with black felt paper underneath in the bathrooms. Upon removing the popcorn from all of the ceilings, he retextured the entire area to an orange peel surface -- ceilings and walls. As mentioned above, the cement mortar on the bathroom walls was a surprise, and the wallpaper under the paint of some of the interior walls, was another shocker. However, Robert stuck to the price and never flinched. It all resulted in a major transformation. My lower level (an English walkout lower level) no longer looks like a cave. They were meticulous in protecting all of my furnishings and leather-tiled floor. Is there anything more that I could possibly say?
Description of Work: Installed cement sheetrock in the huge hallway, and bedrooms (first applying a masonry sealant), and hardibacker in the bathrooms; demolished the cement tiled walls in the tub/shower surround and removed the wallpaper; removed popcorn ceilings throughout and retextured the maximum area of the lower level to an "orange peel" surface finish.

Rob was prompt and courteous when he came out and did our quote. Once we accepted, it was easy to schedule a time for him to start the job. Dunn Drywall (Rob Dunn) is quick to return phone calls, easy to schedule with, and very responsive to a customer's needs. He is honest and trustworthy. I enjoyed having him in our home and appreciated his professionalism and attention to detail. He truly masters drywall and is able to make it look as though he didn't even drywall an area. Our removal of our staircase left gaping holes and now, you would never know that an old staircase existed with different dimensions than the new staircase. Beautiful work! We will definitely use Rob Dunn again and have referred him to several friends.
Description of Work: Dunn Drywall repaired all the areas from which we removed our old staircase prior to installation of a new wrought iron staircase. In addition, Rob Dunn also removed our outdated tremendously large mirrors in two bathrooms and drywalled the walls after the mirrors were removed. He also did many other small areas that were in need of repair. One would never know that he had repaired the areas; the areas were matched exactly to the other areas and blended in with the areas impeccably. Rob spent approximately two days in doing repairs in our home.

He was overall very good. Rob Dunn himself was very very professional, very accommodating, and responsive to my comments or what I wanted to tell him. It was the problem with getting the paper off. That came in with a lot of extra hours because it wouldn't come off the way we thought it was going to. He kept the estimate the same and got the job done. I was pretty happy about that. He is very responsive to what you need done and will do what he needs to do to get the job done.

Robert and Joe arrived at 8 am on Monday, immediately started moving furniture and taping and covering the walls, the floor and the furniture. I left the house for them to work and returned around 3 pm. They had finished the 2 bedrooms and 3/4 of the living room. The next day Robert came, finished the living room, the dining area and the kitchen. He also installed 4 recessed lights in the kitchen. The 3rd morning Robert fixed the bathroom ceiling, cleaned everything and left the house spotless before noon. I asked Robert for an estimate to drywall a 3car garage and will definitely call him back to do the work in 2012. Robert and Joe Did an excellent job. were punctual, courteous and professional.

It went very well from start to finish. I placed an ad on Angie's list in the evening and received a call back the next day from Robert. He came right on time, gave me my options and bid and let me know when he could do the work if I selected him. He came to do the work as scheduled. He was very professional, friendly and did a beautiful job. I now have my go-to company for this type of work. While he was at my house he noticed that I had a patch of cut drywall in my living room from electrical work that I had done recently. He automatically took care of that as well without an addional charge. Dunn Drywall went up and above the work at hand to help me out with another situation in my home as well. A bird had fallen into my fireplace and was desparetly trying to get out. I was nervous about how to handle the situation. Robert advised that we should close the blinds and all doors except for the front door. I actually went outside while he opened the vent. The bird followed the light and flew right out. it appears there was a nest that had fallen The end result was that two baby birds who died from the fall fell into my fireplace when he opend the vent. He took care of that as well. Others may have ignored the problem as it wasn't their own. I am so thankful that he helped me out!

I contacted Rob for an estimate and he promptly returned my phone call and we scheduled an appointment for him to provide an estimate. He showed up on time and was professionally prepared to take measurements and provide an estimate. I showed him the walls that needed repair as well as the new room and garage area that needed to be retextured to match other walls. He provided me a fair and reasonable price. In my conversations with Rob it was clear that he knew his business and was willing to make sure that the job was done right. The day of the job he showed up on time and was prepared to get started quickly. He masked off the kitchen and living area to make sure that dust was contained and he did a great job of not having the work impact our day to day home activity. He took pride in his work and wanted to make sure I was pleased with it. He took special care in making sure that the texture matched our existing walls and he hit it spot on. All in all he did a great job and I would recommend Rob Dunn for any drywall service in the future.
