The company owner has now SUED us for the amount he says we owe him. He quoted us one amount, then decided (AFTER INSTALLING THE SINK) that he wanted double that. AFter repeated attempts to resolve this and get a real invoice to show WHY the cost was so high, he has now filed in small claims court. TERRIBLE COMPANY. DO NOT USE.

This was in August 2010. After numerous emails and missed appointments, the installer, Dennis French, called one day and asked if he could come over in the next ten minutes to do the install. This was in February. He came, did the install, and then socked us with a $1200 bill. We protested, asking for a specific invoice. He said he would not give us the name of his vendor, or breakdown the cost. It was just $1200. We never got an estimate (our fault, but we figured he'd be honest since he'd done work before for us). We sent a partial payment of $400 and asked for an invoice. He would not comply. Took it to the BBB. He submitted an invoice from a totally different company "as comparison" to them (not even from his company!) and they dismissed the case. We never did get our invoice. He then emailed and said that if we didn't pay the rest of the money he'd put a lien on our house. Also said if we complained, he'd sue us for slander. So, we ended up paying. Get a written estimate. Don't use this company.
Description of Work: InCounters had installed our countertop and sink several years before. When the Easter earthquake hit, we got a crack in the sink, so it seemed logical to contact the company to see about a replacement. We were told it would be no problem.

Response from INCOUNTERS INC
My name is Dennis French with InCounters Inc. I’m in receipt of a complaint from one of our previous clients. At present she is utilizing your company to get out of paying a bill that she needs to pay. The project was for the removal and replacement of an acrylic sink, disconnect and reconnect of her plumbing. Despite her accusations, she was informed that the cost of the repairs that occurred at the initial conversation regarding the sink replacement. Her sink was a discontinued sink that I spent weeks trying to find which I believe no other company would've done. Doing this probably saved her an additional $1000.00. We contacted each other back and forth via e-mail and phone calls. I contacted her the day before the installation to let her know that I could come out the following day but did not know what time until I was done with another project. I told her I would call her when I was on my way. She agreed to this and that's what I did. I replaced the sink as agreed and confirmed the price with her and her husband. I even provided a breakdown for the husband. She left before I was done and when I asked the husband for payment, he said that she had the checkbook. She came home after I asked him to call her. She said then, that she didn't have enough money and would get me a check out after she got paid. After days of no payment, my Office Manager, Jessica, called her to inquire about the non-payment. The owner wanted to make payment arrangements, which I approved. She then requested the name of the vendor and a complete breakdown of everything. I had already provided her in the beginning. She had the name of the manufacturer, which was on the sink. This wasn’t enough for her and suddenly made this a reason to not pay. She then took this complaint and went to the Better Business Bureau. After their review of the facts we provided including an estimate for the repairs from another company, The BBB found that we acted in the best interest of the customer and provided proper customer service. [member] continues to refuse to pay and honor our contract even after she received the breakdown and a comparable estimate from another company which showed our prices were comparable. We have contacted her and informed her that if she does not pay her bill in full that we will attach a mechanics lien on the property to protect our assets. InCounters Inc, has been in business for over 20 years. InCounters has an A+ Accredited rating with the Better Business Bureau. She has made negative comments regarding the BBB's decision stating they were pretty much bought off and other outlandish comments. As you can see by her letter, it would appear that all that she wants is to get it for less than the customary and contracted price. At this point, She leaves me little choice but to lien her property for the balance due. I’m recommending that all customers hiring a contractor check with your local BBB and CLSB prior to hiring a contractor. Sincerely, Dennis French InCounters Inc.

OK. Had three estimates Incounters, Inc. was in the middle. Checked out BBB and state they were OK. I laid down tarps and covered kitchen floor (we just had the grout and tile cleaned which was a mistake I should have waited until later). They did demo on the tile and were fine about clean up but did not add anything else to what I had done for the prep. When counters installed later I did the same prep, they ended up taking off the kitchen floor protection and made a MESS of the floor. We had some chips in the tile before but they added a few more. Overall, this was an OK experience but I have high standards and I do not think they met them.
Description of Work: Tear out of old tile countertop and backsplash replace with Zodiac quartz countertop and backsplash.
