Description of Work: Quality of initial reglazing was not acceptable. Crew returned next day and resprayed the entire area. Subsequently the coating has peeled in numerous places. Two return visits made repairs to peeling areas; still have peeling. It seems that the original preparation was not done correctly causing poor adhesion of the reglaze material. Very dissatisfied with quality and would not recommend this company.

This company is great. They were prompt, helpful, and very professional. The shower looks great. They also were very responsive when I had to reschedule at the last minute because I developed a small leak in the shower that would have interfered with their work. I would highly recommend PKB Reglazing.

The touch-up reglazing job was to our satisfaction. No complaints.
Description of Work: This is the third time we've used PKB Reglazing. This time they came out to retouch the areas around the drain of my double kitchen sinks as requested. The last time was to reglaze a beautiful 1908 bathroom claw foot tub for a home my family and I were restoring for a vintage home. We are certain that it added to the attraction of the bathroom in that home which we then put on the rental market. We were very pleased!

I understand your concern regarding some of the issues brought up. Since then we have had quite a bit of time to improve in how we work with customers, enforce the quality of work. As you may notice the most recent F was in 2013. Unfortunately the way Angies List works is that I as the business owner am not able to respond unless I have an active paying account with Angies List. I would highly recommend you see what customers from Yellow Pages, Home Advisor, Yelp, Demandforce all have to say about us to get a better idea as to what are customers things of us. We have completed over 14,000 Reglazing jobs over the past 5 years. It is unfortunate that customer response that is less than 1% of the work we have completed has had this affect on your decision. If you would like to discuss your concerns so we can ensure that you will be happy with our service I am available to discuss or can call you.
Description of Work: After reading the negative review about this company, I felt it only fair to give them a heads up. This is the response I received and wanted to share from the sales manager... Unfortunately we are not able to view the Angies List reviews so the owner cannot respond to them but really the best place to how our customers feel about us is on Home Advisor. I have added the link below so you can check it out. We are the only reglazing company that has over 150 reviews and an almost 5 star rating. Please let me know if there are any other questions I can answer for you. Then this is the response from the owner in comments I just checked Profile on Angies List and we have a total of 18 Reviews (1 duplicate) A (10) B (3) C(0) D (2) F (2) ---One was a duplicate from same person but listed twice

Worker was in time, he reglazed my bathtub and countertops, when it was dry there were bubbled on the kitchen countrrtops which made them look ugly, I contacted them and they sent someone out to check and reglazed at no cost. Then by bathtub started cracking 2 years later and peeling, this warranty took a few months to get repaired as the owner was on vacation and I missed the first appointment but once the guy came to fix the tub, he stained my screen window with the excess paint from his vent and the tub bubbled anf there were specles that made it look weird, the guy that came to remove the paper didnt notice them, it took a while to get that repaired as well about a month, then the owner came personally Nd fixed it, i havent had any problems since and i would use them again as they have honored the warranty. I would recomend

Luis showed up at the agreed upon time and completed the first job in about 5 hrs. Did good cleanup and took away all trash and debri without leaving any mess behind . Also vented exhaust outside via a nearby window to minimize fumes from paint and any residual mess. Also returned two days later to complete the second job. Good job and excellent finished result. Very pleased so far.

This is the third rework/repair. The initial coating had voids and thin spots in January 2012. I sent an email on January 29, 2012 with photos showing the unacceptable quality. A technician was finally available to sand and respray the defective areas on February 6. Noticed peeling on floor of shower and around drain in bathtub in September 2013. Waited to see if the peeling continued. On October 30 I sent an email message describing the problem. I was finally able to schedule a technician to perform the repairs the first week of December. I again noticed peeling on the shower floor in January. I sent another email on January 29 with photos of the peeling areas. Danny Phillips, the owner, and 2 technicians finally arrived to do the repair/rework on Wednesday, March 5. We need to wait a minimum of 5 days before using the shower. If there are additional problems I will submit another review.
Description of Work: Warranty repair. Sanded and resprayed several areas that were peeling. Previous repair done in December 2013.

Violent technician threatens to beat up home owner. My issues with this company began over a year ago. I had them come to reglaze my tub. When the worker was finished, he dropped a bead of sweat accidentally into the tub, effectively ruining the job in that area. Upon calling the company, the owner, without looking at the damage, determined over the phone that we must have a leaky faucet which caused the damage. After a heated back and forth he finally admitted it was possible his guy made a mistake. I had to have my still very young twins away from the house for the entire day because one of them had respiratory issues and so I wanted to wait to have the tub fixed again. A year later, my daughters health is better and it's easier to get them out of the house so the work could be done. The technician from the company showed up late and then fixated on one element of the tub saying, "That was a pre-existing condition". I tried to explain that the reason we had the tub reglazed was because the glazing was coming up around the drain. While it's possible what he was pointing out was a pre-existing condition, I had not seen that area exposed in the 12 years I've lived at the house with the precious glazing job and it was only after the work the previous technician from PKB did his work that the tub was now peeling from the other location. He just kept repeating "That was a pre-existing condition" and not letting me finish. Finally, he storms out of the house and tries to slam my front door in my face. When I stopped the door from slamming and followed him onto my front porch he thrust his chest at me and his arms back and starts saying "Go ahead and touch me mother f*****, I'll kick your f****** a** mother f*****". I continued to try and explain and he continued to tell me how he was going to kick my a**. There happened to be a film crew having lunch in the yard next door, so about 30 witnesses saw all of this happen. I tried to have the owner of the company come out to have a look. He set an appointment and confirmed the appointment the night before. I called him back confirming the appointment. I awoke the next day to find a voicemail from very early in the morning with the owner saying he would leave to come out if I called him back in the next 10 minutes. It had already been an hour since he called. It all just seems like games at this point. My wife, fearing what kind of violent person they would send next, asked if I would just move on and find someone else to do the tub. That's what I'm doing. Just wanted to put this warning out to anyone else who might be thinking of using this company. I just thank god my twins weren't home to see the violent technician cuss daddy out and threaten to beat him up in front of our house.

When we first had the reglazing done in March 2012, I was amazed at how great out vintage tub and tile looked. Replacing the tub would have been $3,000, but we wanted to try to preserve the 1920's tile that surrounded the cast iron tub. I initially noticed a minor area around the drain that hadn't gotten glazed. About a year later, there was an area with cracking and we were having trouble removing water stains that were accumulating. By a year and a half, there was an area that bubbled and popped. Because we have a 2nd shower I wanted reglazed, I called them to see if they could repair the problems and quote the new tub. I had to wait several weeks for an appointment, only to have it cancelled and rescheduled. For the next appointment, the technician called 15 minutes before the end of the appointment window and left a message saying he was on his way and to call him back. I tried calling back but couldn't leave a message because his mailbox was was full. He then called back and was extremely rude and angry that I hadn't left a message. Because of his demeanor, I refused to see him and asked to reschedule. I spoke with the owner who promised to call me back, but didn't. I emailed and someone else called back to reschedule for the following week. The technician showed up and said the cracking and the bubble that popped were damage from us dropping things in the bathtub. (One is under a shelf, but the other isn't.) I also asked him about the staining since we had been told to only use softscrub and it wasn't working on the water stains. His suggestion was to wipe the tub out after every use and that we could use dish soap too. So, basically, with normal wear, the finish after a year started having problems and after 1 1/2 years of normal family use looks pretty awful. Even though there is a 5 year warranty, they just said everything was "damage" so not covered. Extremely disappointed with the quality and durability along with the service of this company.

Due to the age of the fiberglass shower pan (17 years old) and the flimsiness of the fiberglass at the cracker areas, PKB had to create localized bubbles or mounds in the shower pan that proved to be slippery to the touch when wet. PKB came out a second time, explained that the mounds had to done that way due to the existing condition of the fiberglass shower pan; but did agree to add non-slip coating to the mounded areas to reduce slipping hazard. On the date of the original service, PKB employee parked his truck in my driveway and left a pronounced oil stain on my driveway and cigarette butts in my grass adjacent to the driveway.

First I called and spoke to the owner, Danny, who was very personable and provided all the answers to my questions. Danny gave me the bottom price which I thought was very reasonable. On May 31, 2013 Jorge showed up on time and viewed the damage. He indicated this would be no problem fixing. He later had me come up to the bathroom to inspect the repair before he put on the glaze. I was very satisfied with the repair and told him to proceed. Jorge and his helper completely covered all areas in the bathroom. He also had a blower to blow all the smell as he worked on the sinks. I was showed the finished product and was told he would return in 72 hours to remove the protective covering. The smell was not as bad as I thought it would be. Jorge came back on Monday and removed the protective covering and examined his work. I was very pleased with the outcome. I would recommend PKB Re-glazing to anyone who asked.

It went well! They arrived on time and was courteous and once seeing the job had me sign the work order for them to start- i had already prepared the work area (no shower doors were installed to hamper the process)- they did notice after starting i had a defect which wasn't expected or seen and offered to fix it at a extra cost- i gave the ok - it seems they offered me a lower price than normal because they didnt get the word from management- so i saved about $50,00 here -all in all the total came to 792.00!! So it was completed in about 4 hours? they didn't do any clean up or haul away and the Fumes were very strong from this process -this is addressed in the work order release you sign- I would suggest it be discussed at the time of quote and have the customer be prepared as they may really be affected by it otherwise. The end result was very nice- I am glad I chose this over replacement or tile over and I would recommend them to others for this service.
Description of Work: I had requested a Shower re glazing to 'refresh" my shower stall-it was installed in 1987 and had some worn areas-so re glazing was the better way to go-the original estimate was $525.00 I would have liked to change the color but decided not based on the added cost

I live in the Temecula Valley area in the Inland Empire. I contacted PKB after searching reglazing companies on the internet since there weren't many to choose from where I live. I contacted PKB, and they informed me that they had a technician working for them in Riverside County. An appointment was set up promptly at my convenience, and the tech who came out was on time, professional, and he did a great job. My worn out sink now looks as good as new, and it was definitely less expensive than having to buy a new sink, breaking out the tile surrounds, and then replacing them with new ones a well.

First of all, I didn't find an Angie's List review for the area I live in which is in the Temecula Valley/Riverside County region, so I looked online to find kitchen and bath enamel reglazers. I chose two to follow up on and called them both. Phillips Bath and Kitchen Reglazers (PKB) was one of them. When I learned that they are based out of Santa Clarita, that was a cause for concern to me since it's so far away from Riverside County. However, John, the person I worked with in setting up my appointment, informed me that they have a tech working in this area and that all of their techs are licensed and bonded through PBK. Luis, the tech who came out to do the reglazing, did a very professional job. The cleanup afterwards was perfect. My sink is now sparkly again, and having it reglazed, as compared to having a new sink put in, would have meant removing the tile surrounds, buying a whole new double sink and thus a greater expense for me. I would definitely recommend PKB reglazing services to anyone else in need of their services. It's a joy to look at my kitchen sink which is as good as new now!
Description of Work: Reglazed kitchen double sink after 22 years of use. No scratches or chips prior to reglazing, just normal wear to point where the enamel was worn and dull looking.

The original date of service was Jan. 11, 2012. At that time, PKB Reglazing, re-glazed our bathtub. The bathtub was in horrible condition - over 50 years old, several poor attempts had been made by previous owner to re-glaze and the surface was peeling when I cleaned the tub. The original job cost $400 and came with a 5 year guarantee. We were very pleased with the results. One year later, I noticed the smallest imperfection. Since I was concerned that it would get larger, I immediately called PKB. Derek, in Quality Control, was very professional and said I would receive a call back to schedule an inspection. When I was not contacted in 2 days, I called again and Derek said he would follow-up for me. I received a call later in the day from Danny who immediately scheduled an appointment for a technician to come to the house. The time for the appointment was re-confirmed the day before. The technician arrived on time, inspected the bathtub and proceeded to re-glaze as necessary. It is such a pleasant surprise to do business with a company that actually takes pride in their work and honors their guarantee. I would strongly recommend PKB to anyone who is considering having their bathtub re-glazed.

Paint looked and felt great at first. But within weeks of use, the paint started chipping. First when small objects like soap and shampoo bottles were dropped, then more and more as time went on. Daniel was nice at first, he came out and retouched the first chip (for about $50). Then later he refused to believe it was the paint at fault. Finally, when we made appointments to meet him, he would cancel at the last minute (6/18/12) or just not show up (6/21/12). I will not be using his service again.I believe that his technician did not adequately prep the old tile before painting it. This seems like a common problem in online forums. The tile must be cleaned, sanded, and then acid etched. I think steps were skipped and so the paint is not staying put. He should be honoring his 5 year warranty (only installed last July or August), but he is not.

We got off to a REALLY good start, as Danny was VERY prompt in answering emails, giving me quotes, and answering all my questions in deciding if I wanted to go with WHITE or one of the SPECKLED colors, and doing tub and tiles or only the tiles. He was very friendly and didn?t get annoyed at all my questions. In the end I decided to first try out just doing the tile surround because all the units have the old fashion type tubs that is built really well with no chips (just don?t have that new shine anymore). He did mis-quote me and forgot to add the $45 to remove shower doors, but he emailed me the night before our appointment when he noticed his mistake. Although I was really looking forward to the speckled gray color, that increased the cost too much for my budget, so I decided to go with the white. My appointment was at 9:00 a.m. I arrived at the property on-time, but Juan didn?t arrive until about 9:35 a.m. (he did call to say that he was stuck in traffic). It was a rainy day, which usually results in slow traffic, so you would think he would plan accordingly. Anyway, I was at this point not annoyed because I am use to contractors not arriving on time so I always take a book to read. After arriving late, he spent the next 30 to 35 minutes trying to reach the office because he was not aware that I wanted white, even though Danny emailed confirmation that morning. Danny always seemed to be in the office early because a couple of times I emailed him around 7 a.m. and was surprised to get a response immediately. Yet, Juan couldn?t reach him to get confirm price and color white for over half an hour. While waiting for Danny to call him back, he informed me that they will NOT take off shower door frames. I told him that was NOT ok with me because I discussed with Danny that I was removing the doors and NOT putting them back for a more clean look. That's why he charged me an extra $45, which was specified in my quote. No way would I agree to $45 just to lift the shower doors out of the frame, which only takes a few seconds - a child could even do that. He said he had to speak to the office, but was STILL waiting for a call back from his boss. I told him that even though his company prices were higher than the others on Angie's List that I had spoke with, I choose him because his website indicated lots of quality photos and detailed exactly what he uses and the steps. This was very impressive because it indicated that he had nothing to hid (i.e., skipping necessary steps for quality job). However, it seems almost impossible that his workers completed all those steps in the little time they were at my place. While the bathroom doors were open, I am sure they did NOT, but when they were ready to start spraying, they closed the doors to keep the fumes inside, which is understandable, so since I am not knowledgeable exactly how each step is done, it would be unfair for me to say he didn?t do all the steps. I just know that it was done VERY fast. After hearing that he hadn?t planned to remove the shower frame/doors, I decided I had better make sure that they were going to remove the unsightly old caulking. He said he was NOT going to touch that. Then I REALLY knew we had a problem. It is the caulking that I have to redo EACH TIME a tenant moves out that motivated me to try the reglazing to see if that would give me a cleaner look. I told him that if I don't have a fresh CLEAN LOOK with the end-product, I am not interested in doing the job. AGAIN, he needed to talk to the boss -- more waiting. -- FINALLY after 10:00 a.m. I found the piece of paper where Danny had emailed the confirmation, and he agreed to go ahead and start on the job, including removing caulk and frame. Soon after, Victor arrived, who was the guy who was responsible for applying the finish, and they began work. He said he still hadn't reached the office, but decided to go ahead based on the email. -- 11:00 a.m. I told them I was leaving and asked when should I return. He said one hour. I was very surprised, because at that point they had just removed the shower doors and starting the prep work. In my mind, they still had to (1) etch the tile, (2) apply the primer coat and (3) finish coats (per their website). -- 12:00 noon(ish) I returned and they hadn't even started applying any spray. The machine wasn't even hooked up yet. He apologized and said he would be finish in 20 minutes, as he was just getting ready to spray. I asked to PLEASE NOT RUSH. I would wait. So I began to help my son with the painting in the other rooms. When he was finish, about 40 to 50 minutes later, I noticed immediately drips, holes where screws were, and a couple of cracks. He tried to tell me that was to be expected because I had a (hairline) crack in the tile. I told him that I thought that was the reason for the prep work, and that I was concerned that if it is already dripping, that would make it easier to start peeling because it was not correctly adhered to surface. He assured me that it looks like that because his product is THICKER than most competitors, making it stronger. I asked my (grown) son to come in and tell me how it looked, and without me saying a word, he IMMEDIATELY pointed out the drips within seconds of stepping inside the bathroom. ONLY THEN did Victor say that if I wanted, he would come back on Friday and fix it because he cannot fix it while it is still wet. I also pointed out that he did not continue the glaze past the unsightly grout area that we had discussed. He explained that was because he sprayed in a straight line and the ground line is not straight. I asked if he could tape off a straight line BELOW the lowest level of the grout so that I would have a clean look. Instead, he applied some white caulk to cover the area of the grout that he missed. I already know that this is going to continue the same problem that I was trying to avoid by doing this job (replacing dirty caulk every year). -- After he left, since I am a 65 year old woman with not-so-perfect eye sight, I brought in a work light and looked it over carefully. That is when I noticed other screw holes where they took off the frame, and another bubbly looking area near the edge of the tile (see photos). SUMMARY: I think that if there were flaws that were going to be obvious when they completed the job, they should have either advised me BEFORE starting the job so that I could decide if I wanted to spend more to do it THE RIGHT WAY, or protect the integrity of their work and opt to refuse the job. As a consumer, we don't always know what to expect if we don't understand the process, but as professionals, they SHOULD know in advance. We rely on their expertise to tell us what will work and what will not. After this experience, I can see now that it probably makes their job harder when they don't do both the tile and tub together. I emailed Danny the photos and he offered to come out and redo it. I told him that I could leave the unit open because it would be vacant all week, but he never responded to my email. I believe that this company does quality work based on their website photos, but maybe they found my job to be too small to worry about the details (just guessing). If the quality of the work had been as good as my communication with Danny, I would be ecstatic. The workers were polite, but not detail-oriented. This was rental property (which I care about too), but if it was my home, I would pretty upset.
Description of Work: They reglazed ONLY the tile-surround in the bathroom of one of my rental units. Because of the fact that I had heard negative reviews about having to reglaze every few years once you have this done, I thought I would first try it on the walls because they don’t get much wear and tear as the bath tub. If that went well, I would do both the tub and tile-surround when my next vacancy came up.

I called Danny to get an estimate for reglazing my tub which over the years has become really dirty looking, even when I clean it, it still looks old and dirty. He was very professional. He explained the whole process and gave a good price compared to the other estimates I was receiving. We set an appointment on the only day I had off. The gentleman that did the work was very polite. He did a great job!!! My tub looks better than new. I didn't even know the things they can do these days. He was telling me how they can reglaze my contertops and make them look like granite. I will definitely be using their services again. Very nice people that do a great job. That's hard to find these days.
