Taylor Made Construction

We contracted David Taylor and Taylor Made Construction through recommendation from The Home Depot to install some custom cabinets. We were told that there would be an approximate one month lead time for the fabrication of the upper shelving units and lower cabinets with one to two days for the actual installation. There are many reasons why we wouldn’t choose Taylor Made Construction again but here are the main points. David Taylor was untruthful. He ordered doors for our cabinets that were a half-inch shorter than the corresponding drawers above them. He told us he would re-order the doors to the correct specifications but instead shimmed a piece of wood to the side of the door to make the correct size. The problem with doing this is the front of the door had a design on the front and adding a half inch to one side made the design noticeable lopsided. Furthermore, the shims used weren’t even the thickness of the doors themselves making them even more conspicuous. The craftsmanship has not stood up. Roughly a month after the “completion” the lower cabinets have appeared to shift. The trim above the cabinets has separated from the counter top. The cabinet wasn’t filled with a large amount of weight nor was there excessive pressure put on the counter top. When the cabinets were being installed, I requested that the carpet below be removed to ensure a stable base. David told me that it would be fine to install the cabinets on top of the carpet Regardless of the reason why, the cabinets have torn away from the trim. The customer service we received was subpar. When he first attempted to install the upper shelves, they were not installed to the specifications we requested. We did not complain, we asked when he would be back to fix it. The second attempt, we were told that all new uppers were going to be fabricated. When he returned, the same material was used to cobble the shelves together. And again, they were not to the configuration we requested. David was at our house close to 12 times working on our cabinets. And that was the times he actually showed up. Multiple occasions he would cancel, most often the night before, citing a reason that could have 1.) been mitigated had a reasonable amount of planning been considered or 2.) if there had been any planning, the customer could have been notified much more in advance.
