Description of Work: Also July 2nd. Air Conditioner needed part replacement and coolant. We had them come back on July 2nd to put in a new vent to let more air into the bedroom which is rather warm. All well. I appreciate them coming on time and fixing the problem.

Description of Work: I purchased the coupon through Angie's list but the vendor refused to schedule the AC inspection until October. Nowhere in the fine print did the coupon have blackout periods. The vendor did offer to perform the service anytime for $125 a unit which is about double the amount of the coupon I purchased. This offer is misleading and constitute false advertisement.

Description of Work: They were spoused to evaluate a problem and provide cleaning/tune up to the a/c unit. Their guy went on the roof, check the unit, came back with "few" posebilities that caused the problem, and offered to repair for additional charge (which was okay with us). When we asked him to go ahead and for time being to do the clean up, which was part of that job, he claimed he didn't have all the tooling or other means to complete it! And said that he will perform he later with the (additional) repair! |No Go with us.

Description of Work: A/c tune up, cleaning and freon refill. Rick also looked for leaks and tried to curb the leak as much as possible and got our master bedroom A/C working back! He was fast, courteous, knowledgeable and also got his own booties! We hope we don't have to get a major leak repair very soon!

Description of Work: Received tel call to inform me that repairman, Rick, was on his way. Arrived punctually, very cordial and friendly. Explained repair situation thoroughly and offered different options for repair. Offered a maintenance contract which was reasonable. I was referred to Rowland from Angies List and am so happy with the professional that I received from Rowland Air Service. Rick was an excellent repairman!

Description of Work: they looked at my heater to see why it was red tagged by the gas company but did not fix the issue they did not do a complete cleaning of my heater an the problem was not resolved it was still fumes coming from the heater an is still not working to this day

Description of Work: The initial quote I received was superb. It was however prior to me finding out about the energy upgrade california program and wanting to participate in the program. Initially I was very pleased with the company and Eric but as the process went forward after our assesment everything changed. Miscommunications, miscalculations and misinformation led to a very difficult relationship. Thier initial pricing before doing the energy assesment was great but afterwards everything was thousands more then even my highest quote from the other companies They also refuse to break down the proposal to the cost of the different projects that make up the whole project. (ie. we were going to do HVAC, Duct work, duct sealing, Air Sealing, Insulation. They refused to breakdown what the ductwork was going to cost or what any other part of the total project cost was. They told me it was a package deal.) This was unacceptable and after already paying for the energy assesment at a cost of $400 we walked.

The homeowner's initial request was to obtain information on the replacement of their heating and air conditioning system. Rowland Air promptly set up an appointment with the homeowner and dispatched the technician Eric to her home. After assessing the property and providing and estimate for replacement, Eric also mentioned that we are an approved contractor through the Energy Upgrade of California. The Energy Upgrade of California is a bit complex on how they calculate the rebate amounts provided back to the homeowner. The program works on the percentage of energy savings within the home after the upgrades are completed. The original quote that was provided to the homeowner, Member, was just for the replacement of the heating and air conditioning units (like for like) and not for the upgrades needed to complete to obtain the maximum amount of rebates back from Energy Upgrade of California. These upgrades included window replacements, duct sealing, duct replacements, heating and air conditioning replacements (high efficient units), insulation, a radiant barrier, and drywall patching and misc work. Now the price would definitely increase from the original bid (which was only for heating, air conditioning and duct replacement) to the new bid with all the upgrades listed above to obtain the percentage of energy savings for the Energy Upgrade of California program. Rowland Air did not refuse to provide a breakdown on the total invoice we had provided to the homeowner, however, tried to explain that some of the areas of work (such as replacing parts of the duct work and the sealing) are a combined set price because it would take one crew to complete this work. Our invoice had prices breaking down the costs of the HVAC system, the duct replacement and sealing, attic insulation, radiant barrier, and the window replacements. After obtaining these breakdowns we obtained an email from the homeowner, Member, on what she feels the labor costs and material costs are for those particular items and she would be able to do the job at a cheaper cost if she did the work herself. Per Member's response she stated "By using these rough estimates I have come up with and what I believe to be the correct number of days and men required to do the job I estimate that $40 an hour per man for 8 hours a day for 2 men for 2 days would be $1920 plus materials of somewhere around between $400 to $600. I understand you do not break down your pricing exactly the way I have done so and you have to make a profit however at the rates you have giving me I will not be doing the work to start with thus taking away any profit for the ductwork project to begin with." Rowland Air has been a preferred contractor in the Santa Clarita Valley for over 20 years and servicing over 61,960 homes to date. We are a family owned and operated business and pride ourselves on our fair pricing and superb customer service. I would like to ask the readers of this review to understand that we are a business and need to be able to have a working capital to be able to stay in business. To be an approved contractor for the Energy Upgrade of California, we must perform all work up to code and obey all laws; up to and including: being a licensed C-20 contractor, maintaining our worker's comp and liability insurance, and have on staff experienced installers/ technicians. We are unable to provide these services at a cost that a handyman would charge. At times customers request to have prices lower to an "at cost" basis, however, our business would not have survived over 20 years if we honored those requests.
