Ortal

I've never encountered anything like this. We purchased an Ortal fireplace for our master bedroom. It makes a ton of noise starting up: beeps, clicks, pops, and then a long delay until fire actually comes on. (We have a Town & Country for comparison that does none of this). Once it is on there are more noises and this loud pop in the metal every 10-20 seconds. It will finally settle down but then when you turn it off it gets even noisier as it cools down. The loud sound that is separate from the others will continue to pop at odd hours in the night and into the next morning. We were given a replacement fireplace that was touted as being the updated model. They also confirmed that everything is installed correctly. The new fireplace does the same thing. However, at this point they decided to stop responding to us. Multiple emails, many days later and no response. We had to start threatening legal action yet still no response. Our fireplace is partially demoed and we have to stare at an incomplete wall: mantle removed, stone removed and damaged in process and patchy dry wall. We obviously aren't putting anything back as we wait to figure out next steps with no help from Ortal at all. Not good business practice and immensely unprofessional.
