Larry came out promptly and inspected the roof. He told me that the previous job was unacceptable and that everything would have to be torn off and redone (this was later validated by other roofing companies). He took photographs, and I asked him to email them to me with the estimate of the cost to redo the roof. He took my email address and said he would email me all the information. He also told me this new roof would leak very badly. I gave him the agreed upon $50 for his visit, but was not given a receipt. Rain was forecast, and given the state of my roof I realized the job would have to be done immediately. Two days after the intitial estimate I called the office to ask where the estimate was as I was anxious to fix the problem. The person who answered the phone was rather curt but said she would find out. Nobody ever called me back. I called for several more days and received the same response each time. Finally, after a week, I called and said I needed the estimate within 30 mins otherwise I would go with another roofer. No estimate. Two days later I emailed saying I wanted the estimate, and received a scanned, handwritten form filled out with minimal details - and a cost 50% higher than my two other estimates. No photographs were attached, no explanation or details. I had two other estimates, and nobody charged me for these. I was puzzled, because when I initially called they seemed very professional, and I was impressed when Larry came out that he was knowledgeable. My subsequent experiences felt as if I was dealing with a totally different company.

I think I would use them again.

They were on time every day. They cleaned up well when they were done.

They did come out and did get on a ladder, but never physically went on the part of the roof that was affected. Therefore, their recommendation was not trustworthy and later it turned out to be plain wrong when another contractor who physically inspected the part of the roof affected found a visibly cracked skylight that was the problem. Ultimately, West Valley never sent to me a written estimate as they promised.

Charlie Falcone was very professional and returned calls. It took some time to schedule the job because of the rains but once it was scheduled the job proceeded without delay. Not many roofers do rock roofs anymore and West Valley has extensive experience on this. They were recommended highly by another roofer who did not do rock roofs. They also replaced some wood damaged by a previous termite infestation and replaced missing insulation that was damaged by a previous roofer. Their work is guaranteed for 5 years so hopefully you don't see a report from me in at least 5 years.

WE HAVE USED THIS COMPANY SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE YEARS AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN SATISFIED WITH THEIR WORK. THIS INCLUDES ENTIRE ROOF AND TROUBLE SPOTS ON OTHER OCCASIONS. THEY FIXED A LEAK THAT EXHAUST FAN INSTALLERS COULD NOT.
