Description of Work: This company didn't have the product I was looking for (sliding screen door) however the representative was so helpful I had to write this review of my phone experience. She took the time to direct me to a differnt company instead of just saying they don't do that and end the call. I was very impressed. She gave me the number to a local company which I decided to use because they had quoted me almost half of what another company was asking.

Description of Work: When I read all the great reviews, I decided that this would be a good company to contact for services. They were very kind and professional on the phone and in person. I met with a gentleman (Frank) for the estimate of services needed. He examined the areas and explained what was wrong and what could be done with my existing hardware. Upon his departing, he mentioned that he would have his installation manager come out to take a look in addition to make sure they could perform the work and provide an accurate estimate for the services performed. The installation manager came out after a few days. Again, professional and curteous. The proplem remains, is that they never provided a written or verbal estimate even after calling them once four days after their visit Two weeks after their visit, I called again. They appologized for the delay and explained that they were busy. They said that they would work on my estimate that day. It has now been five days since that call and still have not received anything. I wasn't going to get another estimate, but now I'm forced to. Doubt they will miss my business. Too many contractois out there to have to wait more than a couple of days.

Description of Work: Our house was broken into through our wooden front doors. The burglars punched through one of the decorative panels, and then reached inside and unlocked the door. Fortunately, we had an alarm system, so their time inside the house was limited, and nothing was taken. However, both of the double doors were damaged, and they were 25 years old, made of traditional ash. I knew I wanted new, sturdier doors. I checked on Angie's List and found that many door companies simply supply the doors, then recommend separate installers and stainers. I did not want to deal with that many people. Exodus Door & Window managed the whole project. After talking to Bob on the phone, he came to our house and brought brochures with him. I found a brochure from a company that made mahogany (very solid) doors. He also had brochures from less expensive companies. But I wanted something with no glass, extra secure deadbolts, and very dense wood. Couldn't find something without any panels, but found a door that had much larger and much thicker panels, making it more difficult to break in. He provided me with an estimate within a day or two, including the doors, the labor, and the hardware. I then went to several door places myself to compare prices. First, no one had the ability to coordinate the whole project. Second, no one had the catalog from the company Bob did (Caoba Doors). Turned out the door company had a showroom in Valencia, and since this was a big investment, I drove out there to look at the doors. The rep there told me they could make the panels even thicker for a surcharge. At this point, that made me happy. I placed the order and was told it would take 8-10 weeks because the doors were coming from Honduras. We had already barricaded the front door from the inside, so it didn't matter to us. It took 12 weeks. Fortunately, that was not a big deal for us. The labor involved was extensive. The doors are first stained at the Exodus factory; the installers came out, and 2 men spent 7 hours at my house. Then the finishing stainers came out, and 3 men spent another 6 hours at the house. Big project. The doors are beautiful, and all the workers were very professional. Although it was a lot of money for the doors, I do not think they were overpriced at all, based on the quality of what we got. And the labor charges were certainly justified. Overall, I was very happy with the experience and delighted to have found Exodus. I would recommend them for all door jobs. Bob was very accommodating and concerned about the cost. He showed us doors that were less expensive, as well as these. The choice was mine to upgrade to this level, but he had availability at all levels.

Description of Work: I approached Nexus and asked for an estimate to replace a vented hot water heater door. Franklin gave me a quote of $450 which specifed the exact door to be installed after I provided him with measurements. After some confusion on his part on the price (he tried to bump it up to $475, but I reminded him of his prior quote via email), he sent over someone to measure. I was at work at the time, but my wife told me that they said the door they had wouldn't fit my existing door jam. She told them that they'd have to speak with me. The next day, Franklin called me and said "I have bad news. The door frame isn't adequate." I asked him what about the door frame was not adequate and he said he didn't know. When I didn't accept that answer, he started to tell me that they didn't want the job, because it was too small and that he would refund my 50% deposit. I then asked why are you giving me attitude? I'm just a guy that needs a new door installed and you quoted me to do so. Why can't you give me a revised proposal? He said he would send me one. I waited 24 hours and got nothing. I called Nexus at 4pm on Friday (that next day) and was told that he was gone for the day. At that point, I demanded my 50% deposit be refunded to me immediately. This was a complete waste of time; on my part and on theirs. Don't try to sell me a door that has to fit the existing frame. Sell me a door that you can fit to the frame. Franklin knew d*** well why the frame wasn't adequate. I was mislead and expected a more professional experience than the bait and switch that Nexus tried to pull.
