The fan as installed at the highest point in the garage ceiling and it is so quiet you can't hear it. The garage is easily 20 degrees cooler on the hottest days, and doesn't go above 80 degrees most days in the summer. I'm a happy customer!

From the time I ordered it there was frequent contact on the status of the order for the fan and then when it was in stock calling to arrange an installation time and date.They showed up on time, were quick, efficient, and professional in discussions on placement then installation and testing.

It was ok. It could have been a better experience.

We had a solar energy system installed on our 2 story home. In order to have the most efficient layout of panels, our pool solar panels had to be moved to another part of the roof. When our solar company moved the pool panels they discovered damage to the roof underneath. It was a small job compared to roof installs/replacements but Shadowfax was very accommodating. They worked with our solar install schedule and did an excellent job on the repair. They were on time, on estimate (very reasonable, by the way), highly efficient, extremely professional and courteous. Everyone we worked with was pleasant. We highly recommend them and will definitely use them in the future!

They they didn't leave me with any paperwork to verify the job. There seemed to be a problem with communication between the people who set the appointment and the people there doing the work. The guy that was there did fine.

I was not home when Jerry did the inspection, but he provided a full report, with pictures. I was pleased with the job, and believe a got what I had paid for. Jerry also provided a quote for future business, though we found the bid to be a bit high, probably based on the type of roofing material used in the quote.

We purchased a "Big Deal" through Angie's List for a roof inspection and minor repair. Don removed debris for beneath overhangs, fixed some loose shingles, and diagnosed the cause of a leak around the skylight in our patio roof. Due to wet weather, he needed to return a second time to complete the repairs and left a detailed description of the work performed. Finally, no more leaking skylight! Don is easy-going and competent, and never tried to sell us anything we didn't need. Instead, he gave us a good assessment of our current roof, highlighted some problem areas, and fixed them. I'd happily hire Shadowfax Roofing again.

Their estimate was easy to understand, they were professional and on-time, they finished when they said they'd finish, and they cleaned up after themselves. The roof and gutters look good and they've held up well through the winter rainy season.

12/15/11 It went well. The first representative was prompt, thorough, professional, informative and polite. He gave me a bid, and the work came in right on target. They were able to make the appointment within the next week. The actual repair team again were prompt, and did a thorough, professional job. i was very pleased and would use them again.

I took advantage of Shadowfax's Angie's list Big Deal for a service that was normally over $400. Other than routine gutter cleaning, I had not had my roof checked in approximately 10 years (no leaks), but was not confident that everything was in order. Additionally, I had an old Dish Network dish rusting away up there in an unsightly manner, several years after we terminated our service with them (they don't remove dishes). So, I signed up for the deal on a whim, and contacted Shadowfax for an appointment. I found out after purchasing the Big Deal (I didn't read carefully!), that I was outside of Shadowfax's normal service area- they are in Campbell, and I live in Half Moon Bay. Jerry, the owner, spoke with me directly, and told me he would nonetheless honor the deal, and was very kind. About a week after that, Jerry came to our home, and spent several hours pounding down loose shingles, cleaning off the loose branches and leaves around the gutters and roof, taking down the old Dish Network dish (as a favor- this was not part of the deal!), sealing all the holes, and generally inspecting all the potential leak areas (flashings, area around skylights). He even took the time to sweep off our deck where the roof cleaning debris fell, and actually hauled away that nasty rusting dish! I was so grateful for his advice and help related to the condition of our roof, that I asked whether he could do a whole roof replacement in the future (it's nearing the lifespan for our roof anyway). I highly recommend Jerry and Shadowfax Roofing. Jerry is a pleasure, and really went the extra mile to make things right. Despite our not being in the area, i'm hoping that he might consider further work at our house in the future!

I contacted the company on Monday, 1/23 to get an estimate for repairs. Dan called back the same day and was able to come that afternoon to take a look at the roof. He looked at the entire roof, explained in detail what the problems were and gave me a written estimate at the time. The estimate was reasonable for the work being performed so I agreed to let them complete the work. On Friday, 1/27, they were back to complete the work. I appreciated the time that Dan took to explain the problems with the roof and what needed to be done to resolve the issue. He also suggested what we should do to extend the life of the roof. I highly recommend this company and will use them again in the future.

Gerry is the owner of Shadowfax. He is very knowledgable and not very organized.In the end , the roof looks great, the house looks so much better . We had a shake roof and we had a composite roof installed.They missed a number of issues and had to come back out and redo a portion of my roof.We have Solar panels on the roof and we had to remove them at our own expense and then when the roof was completed, put them back at our expense.Gerry forgot we had panels and put a roof vent right where the panels were to go so they had to redo the whole rear portion of the roof.Again, they did it well and its very good looking.They missed a few details on the gutters too and had to be brought back twice to fix them.Gerry never returned my calls, period. Gerry would have his office tell me he would come out on a day and he never showed up.His crew did the job and finished it, with Gerry never showing up. We use our attic for storage, so we have a lot of boxes and things stored in the attic.Maybe we should have realized it, but they never told us, to take everything OUT of the attic. SO now, since they tore the old roof off and put a new one on, everything in our attic is covered with dirt, dust, shingles, crap etc. OMG, I have just put it out of my mind as its such a mess up there.

The process started off badly, got back on track and ended with an excellent result. We had a detailed review of the expectations for our project with the owner of Shadowfax, Jerry Shaffer, the week before the installation was scheduled. My husband and I decided to work from home the first day in case any issues came up during the tear off. The morning of the tear-off, Jerry came out to walk the property and assured us that the tear off company which they use had been informed of our request to be careful around the new landscaping that we had installed. We had put up our own protective barriers over the plants closest to the house. We also placed plastic sheeting over items in our garage to minimize composite from falling into things when the roof section over the garage was removed as it has no attic space. The tear off crew ran arrived 3 hours later than expected. Everything went downhill from there. They did a decent job of removing the roof but they left without cleaning up all the debris that fell around the house. They also used a leaf blower on the roof and to clean out the garage. The guy using the machine put it on such a high blast that it tore all the protective sheeting off the items that were covered spreading grit everywhere and some of the composite was blown under the garage door leading into our family room. When we went outside to see how the crew was progressing they were getting ready to leave and I asked them to please do a careful check of the grounds to remove debris, especially the nails. They did a little cleaning and then when we weren't looking took off in their van. We were shocked that they would leave such a hazardous mess behind. I immediately called Shadowfax to tell them what happened and they assured me someone would come out to take care of the issue. We started cleaning up ourselves and within a few hours the owner of the tear off company came to our property to apologize and began cleaning up himself. He ordered a crew to come out and they spent three hours doing a sweep of our property with a special magnet picking up nails including rusted nails that must have been left behind from the last roof installation. Jerry arrived that afternoon to review the situation and was obviously very upset because this reflected badly on his company's reputation and they hadn't even installed our roof yet. It took several conversations and a lot of follow up to get things back on track but Jerry and his crew really worked hard to win back our trust. They took extra care to explain how the project was progressing, sent out someone each day to check in with us and at the end of the project, Jerry came out to thank us for our patience with a bad start and to ask for our feedback on what could be done better. It is not easy to manage a project that starts off so badly and we greatly appreciated that the owner cared enough about our experience to ask for, and respect our comments. We will definitely use them for future projects as we just bought a new home and trust Shadowfax will take care of us.

They went the extra mile and I am very pleased with the end result. The owner himself was very involved and made sure everything was just right. Out of 15 companies that came to bid on the job, they were the only ones that wanted to do the job due to the extreme slant and age of the roof. They were very prompt and kept the work area very clean. The team was made up of people who had plenty of experience. They spent two weeks on the job to make sure it was done right whereas some other companies may have been in and out in 4 days. They paid attention to detail and were very knowledgeable. I was very impressed.

They responded to my inquiry pretty promptly, the guy that came to make an estimate was very nice. But their estimate wasn't good - it was about 3K higher than most of other estimates that we obtained.

Jerry was on time for the initial estimate and answered my questions honestly, even about the competition. After the estimate, I received a call about a week later that his team can start the following Monday. They arrived on time and completed the job in 2.5 days. Very fast and efficient, working from morning to end of the day, and cleaned up well after the roof was done. Great job, I would use them again!

It went great! I am very pleased. I interviewed three or four of the "A" list roofers, all are very high quality individuals and companies. I picked Shadowfax. I have a 2100 sf single story home which I recently bought and had allocated 5 days to do the roof. Shadowfax started on Monday morning and we were completely done by Tuesday afternoon, city approved the permit on Wednesday. Jerry at Shadowfax was great to work with. Very prompt, professional, and very patient answering my tons of dumb questions. I really appreciated that he quickly returned calls and emails. His crews are great! The demo crew took 2 hrs (yep!) to remove the old wood shingles. They started at 10am and were done by noon! The first of several "Wow" moments. They cleaned up nicely, no nails nor debris anywhere. The install guys checked the roof out for damaged fascia, 1x4 strips, plywood, what have you, and replaced them at a very fair price. The install crew started laying down sheathing and felt paper and had the roof sealed up by end of Monday. On Tuesday morning I had hired a Skylight company to come in and install a Sun tunnel. Jerry's crew made his job easy and straight forward. He was in and out in no time. The gutter crew started at 10am and had all of the gutters installed by noon! The second "Wow!" moment. The roof looks great! Thanks Jerry! I have had several compliments. I asked for a couple of last minute additions and they were handled perfectly. There was only one misstep and that was resolved immediately by Jerry. Jerry's crew cleaned up and even hauled away an old TV antenna for me. I recommend Jerry and Shadowfax whole heartedly. I am truly pleased with the price, the quality, the team work, and the overall experience. Hire this guy!

I picked Shadowfax over 3 other Diamond Certified and Angies List "A" companies. I thought Shadowfax was the most honest and straightforward company, submitted the most comprehensive proposal (it included everything I needed for a great roof but nothing I didn't need) and were the most competitive in pricing. The job was started a couple of weeks later (just missed the rains) and went off like clockwork. Finished in 3 days. The workmanship and attention to detail was excellent. Jerry is a pleasure to do business with. I highly recommend this roofing company.

There was a misunderstanding on our first schedule for work, resulting in our being on vacation and not available. They rescheduled us for a month later and promptly showed up on time the first day. This was an extensive job which took them the entire week to complete, but it was done by Friday, as promised. The workmanship was very good, and repairs that were needed were done well. Besides the prompt daily arrival of the crew, what impressed me the most was daily clean-up. Re-roofing can be messy, but Shadowfax cleaned up every day, including using a metal detector to find nails in the grass and driveway. When they were complete on Friday the house and surrounding property were as clean (or cleaner) than before the work. I especially liked the way they handled the payments - unlike many other firms, they presented us with the bills from each supplier that they used, allowing us to pay each supplier/contractor directly, which eliminated my concerns over possible contractor liens for supplies, etc. that can crop up when paying only the general contractor. Plus, they did not ask for payment until after they confirmed that the local inspector had signed off the final inspection paperwork. They were very professional, reasonable in price, and only charged extra for some small hidden dry rot that was exposed when the original roof was removed. I was very impressed and glad that I selected them for the job.

As far as I know they did a fine job. They were prompt and did the job quickly. They were very courteous and cleaned up after themselves.

I had a TERRIBLE experience with this company! I am exceptionally disappointed because this was supposed to be an "A Rated" company with 29 reviews. I got the same typical contractor runaround BS that I joined Angie's List to avoid! First, I called to have someone come by to give me an estimate. I got a return call the following *week* from someone at this company asking me if anyone had called me. I guess they did not know. I said that no one had called, so she arranged to have one of the contractors call me. We spoke and we set up an appointment time for an estimate which was about 4 days out. I marked my calendar. Because this is my rental property, I had to make arrangements with the tenant. I showed up for the appointment on time, but the contractor was not there and I had not received any calls. After about 15 minutes, I called the company to make sure they did not forget. Becky or Gloria told me that Jerry the contractor was 5 minutes away. I waited another 1/2 hour!! No show!! I called back and got the manager "Stella" who told me that Jerry had already come by and no one was there, so he left! Total BS! I was at the house the entire time! In fact, about two or three of my tenants were at the house on top of that, I was outside working in the yard and roof and periodically checking the street for a truck. When I tried to explain to Stella that I was at the house, I got an argument. This was about 50 minutes after the original appointment time at this point. She just kept repeating "He went to the house but no one was there". When I told her that it was impossible and that I was there the entire time, she would not acknowledge it and simply repeated "What would you like me to do? Would you like me to have Jerry call you?". I told her that I wanted Jerry to come back to my house for the estimate, like he was supposed to do. She told me that he can't because he was at another job but that maybe he could come later or she could make another appointment. I already wasted an hour of my time and had to arrange this appointment with my tenant in advance and wake her up. The part that bothers me the most about Shadowfax Roofing is that despite the fact that these guys screwed up and did not make my appointment, they made it sound like it was my fault and kept repeating that the contractor came by as if it was my fault that the appointment was missed. Only one of two things could have happened in that regard. One, they missed the appointment and they were trying to cover it up by making it sound like it was because of me. Or two, the guy went to the wrong address. But if he had gone to the wrong address, why wouldn't he call my cell phone from there or call back to the office? If he had come by, all he had to do was walk down the driveway or ring the doorbell and he would have gotten someone. Anyway, I am not accepting that he came by at all because I would have seen his truck. It was obvious from the first phone call that he had forgotten. I called 15 minutes after the appointment time and got the classic response "He'll be there in 5 minutes". Why wasn't he already there in the first place? Why didn't someone call to tell me he was running late? Why? Because they forgot and the guy never came by, that's why. But instead of being professional about it, they tried to make excuses and cover it up. Well, because Stella refused to have Jerry come back because "He's at another job now", I had no choice but to ask her to have Jerry call me. She offered no other remedy. But guess what...that was at 12:18p.m. and there was no return call. At 1:18p.m. I called back again already knowing this guy did not want to speak to me and left another message for him to call me back. Well, that was 10/26/10, and today is 10/30/10 and I have yet to receive a return call from Jerry or anyone at Shadowfax Roofing. No big surprise. This is what I would expect from the typical irresponsible contractors I have worked with in the past. Only this is NOT what I would have expected from an Angie's List contractor! i can live with someone being late...but to cancel and flake out on me altogether in this way is completely unacceptable. If you want to use these guys, be my guest...I will NEVER consider using this company for anything! And, I will personally vouch for everything I have said here. I do not know anyone at this company personally nor have I had any other dealings with them in the past. I have all the phone logs of all of the times that I called the company and I would be more than happy to explain my experience to anyone, including people at the company. I already tried to explain to the "manager", Stella, at Shadowfax, but it fell on deaf ears. In fact, I even told her I was very unhappy and that I would be writing this experience up on Angie's list, but she had no response or concern whatsoever...So, here I am. My advice: There are dozens of other roofers in this area, don't waste your time with people like this!

Called &showed up on time for est.Came back on Friday to do work.Found some other items that needed repaired. Agreed to come on Saturday,because painter was coming Monday.

They had a more creative way of repairing the leak than replacing the whole roof. They were good. They did it all in a day and were amazing. I trusted his judgment and his price was good.

Shadowfax roofing tore off our failing 25 year old cedar shake roof on our Los Altos ranch home and replaced it with composite roofing. I worked with Jerry Shaffer the owner for the estimate. I had a lot of questions and Jerry was patient and knowledgeable in his answers. You can tell he?s been doing this for a long time. We have a flat roof section that was particularly tricky because the new composite shingles would not be able to hide it from street view as well as the older, thicker wooden shakes did. Another contractor would not guarantee that the flat roof would not be seen from the street. Jerry figured it out and guaranteed his method of hiding the flat roof would work and put it in the contract. I?m really glad I chose Shadowfax. They started the job on time, their crew was polite and courteous, and they completed the work on time - really. Tearing off the roof was messy, but the Shadowfax crew did a great job of cleaning up every day so that our children and dog could safely use the yard after they were gone. Jerry stopped by regularly to make sure I was happy with the progress and quality of their work. Ramon, the job supervisor, was polite and courteous. The Shadowfax team worked harder than any bunch of guys I?ve ever seen. They completed the job in three days! It was a pleasure having them around. No rowdy language or loud music, just the sound of hammers, saws and some laughter. These guys are good and enjoy working hard together. They did a great job on the flat roof where they used an industrial strength single membrane PCV product that should last longer than my shingles. And they did an artful job of building up the front ridge in front of the flat roof so you have no idea there?s a flat roof there. The roof looks fantastic. As an added bonus Shadowfax installed a light tunnel for our dark kitchen. It works so well I keep thinking someone has left a light on in the kitchen all day long. My wife was thrilled with it. I couldn?t be happier with my choice of Shadowfax roofing.

Shadowfax Roofings price was much better than two other qutoes. They removed the old roof, installed a new 40year comp roof on a steep 8/12 pitch roof, and replace the sheet composition material on my flat roof. They started when they said they would and and finished on time. Very quality job. They cleaned up after themselves everyday. When the job was completed, I did not like the roof vent style they installed, so Jerry happily replaced them with a low profile version, no hassel. The whole crew were very easy guys to work with.
