+ 1 moreMy house is hundred years old and there were some structural issues that he had to correct. The job took almost two days. He showed up when he said he would. I talked to a lot of contractors about this job. Most of them wasted my time by never following up with me. Paul came out, looked at the job, and provided me with a reasonable quote. He showed up on time to appointments and kept in great communication with me. Everything went great.
Description of Work: He converted a window into a door.

+ 1 moreThe work proceeded on schedule as promised. Both Paul Walters and his assistant Gunner worked quickly and efficiently.They took great care to keep my house free of construction debris and left the space as neat and clean as they found it. As I mentioned above Paul took great pains to maintain the integrity of this vintage cottage. The moldings and trim inside and out are identical to the original. Additionally, at my request they saved the original windows and they will be donated to a Habitat building re-store. I could not be more pleased with Paul Walter's work. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. He may not have been the lowest bid on my list, but he was the best. This was a one time replacement and I wanted the best product and the best workmanship. I feel certain that I got both.
Description of Work: Replaced original bedroom windows in my craftsman cottage with Marvin and Anderson energy saving windows. The workman saved the original molding where possible and where not created trim that is identical to the original.

+ -1 moreIt wasn't major stuff. The work went faster than they thought so I was pleased with that. They are small, it is only 2 or 3 guys. Paul actually did some of the work and gave the estimate. I was very pleased with what he did. He prices a little high compared to other people. The quality of the work was great and beautiful. He answered right away when I contacted him. He was very professional. This is what he does and loves to do. I recently called him out to give an estimate because a toilet blew up in my wife's office. I am waiting on the insurance but I would prefer to work with him.
Description of Work: I used Paul Walters Builders to do miscellaneous repairs. We had water damage and a brick planter that had fallen away from the wall. They built a little wall for us and relaid the bricks. They ripped stuff up and cleaned up water damage.

This was important to me as we had a diamond rated painting contractor scheduled to prep and paint our home. In fact, the painting contractor was the one who recommended Paul Walters Buillders. He said he had seen his good work on several jobs he had done. Estimates and contract were very professional. Work done very acceptable with attention to doing things properly and with attention to detail. Having worked with Paul, I have great confidence that Paul and his company will do a great job on any project around the home that I might have. Also, A PLEASURE TO WORK WITH !
Description of Work: Paul replaced a large amount of wood siding and dryrot and termite damaged trim on our home prior to having it painted. Our home is a tri-level on a sloped lot and he did all the repairs safely using products which he recommended for the repairs. He didn't hesitate to seek us out when he had questions in order to do the job the way we wanted. There was a slight problem a few weeks later with one of the pieces of siding popping out a bit from the wall and when I called him he came within a few days to fix it. I would definitely use him again if he was available. I do know he is usually very busy.

+ 1 morePaul is great to work with. On repairs, he really gets to the bottom of the problem so as to fix the underlying cause of issues. He's punctual and courteous, and a pleasure to work with. He's very trustworthy - we have left him unsupervised on several occasions.
Description of Work: We have hired Paul for a number of different jobs over the course of the last few years. 1) We had a roof leak at our towhhouse. Other roofing companies made repairs but the leak kept returning. Paul was able to determine the cause of the leak and fix it. He also repaired the interior damage that was caused by the leak. 2) We had a small patch of hardwood flooring that had rotted (next to a patio door). Paul not only replaced the hardwood, but replaced the subfloor AND found the cause of the problem and fixed that too. 3) Our Home Owners Association hired Paul to repair a unit that had been damaged by redwood tree roots. The job involved removing the sidewall, re-sealing a window, repairing subflooor and stucco for the outside wall. 4) We had settling in our newly built home, causing a few doors to get caught on the floor. Paul did an excellent job on the doors so that they wouldn't rub the floor without causing a huge gap under the door.

+ -1 moreWe've used Paul for several jobs now and would recommend him to anyone who has a project big or small. First of all, the estimates Paul provides are extremely detailed and very reasonable. Second, he is always on time and the quality of his work is top notch. Finally, Paul is extremely trustworthy and very personable. We recommended him to a co-worker who used him to remodel a kitchen and he was very pleased with the results.
Description of Work: Paul did work for our Home Owners Association where there was substantial damage to a structure due to poor quality construction (built 1989). We hired him personally as well, for repair to our hardwood floors. The work involved removing sections of damaged hardwood, repairing subfloor and joists, and replacing floors. The whole process was great! We also have repair work starting next week to remove drywall from cieling where roof leak damage occurred.

+ 0 moreHe is coming back because I have a problem with my front door. His rates are very fair and he is very knowledgeable. He used to only do very large projects like remodels, but since the economy has turned down, he has been accepting small jobs. The quality of work is absolutely fabulous. One of the few advantages of this down economy is that I can get someone of his caliber for small jobs. His quality is great and he is very ethical. He doesn't try to sell me on any work that I don't need. You can probably do the work cheaper, but not for the quality. He responds very quickly to email or phone. He has been early every time. I am planning to use him in the future.
Description of Work: I used Paul Walters Builders to do two new windows.
