Tasks were constantly late, largely a function of the owner [Nick] being absent from the site for almost the entire project, leaving the task to others. His total absence was not discussed nor agreed in advance (meaning we totally expected him to do/ lead the work when we contracted it). We would NOT have contracted Heartwood, had we known that Nick would not be directly involved with the job. The overall result is very satisfactory and Heartwood did finally finish the job professionally and with good quality in the last few weeks - But this job was clearly so much larger than the ones that Heartwood has typically done before, and they were out of their depth managing it This has been painful in the extreme for us-- and sad because we were trying to help a young man grow his business. Nick was polite and professional throughout. We might use Heartwood again for small tasks, and defined conditions but only where the job is small enough to fit in a few days effort.

It was not that great. He had forgotten to bring his tools and breach that he needed when he came to do the job. And then when he did the caulking for the shower, I did not think it was a great job. It was just okay. He kind of covered a little bit, I thought he would redo the whole thing. I will not use this service provider again.

Nick is a professional who does high quality work.

Michelle from Heartwood was very responsive in setting up the appointment. I met with Nick on a Monday and he seemed very knowledgable. He took a bunch of measurements and was very thorough. He said he would get me a quote for the work by the end of the week. I emailed Michelle on that Thursday asking for the quote because I was trying to decide between a few different contractors. I received a quote for just the wall patch and hardwood floor patch. She said she would contact Nick about the rest of the quote. I never received anything after that. I emailed Michelle a week and a half after my original meeting with Nick saying that since I never received the quote I went with another company. She resent me the quote for the dry wall patch and hardwood floor. She said if I was still looking for someone she could ask Nick again about the quote for the rest of the work. I told her that it was unnecessary since I went with someone else since I never received a quote. I think this company is probably very qualified to do anything you need to have done around the house. However, the point of taking the time to meet with a contractor is to get an estimate on the work that needs to be done. It should be expected that an estimate will be given for the requested work without the customer having to continue to ask for it.

A 2-3 day job extended to a multi week job due to painting problems. First, original painter had accident and never came. Second painter was here several days and was unable to do the job correctly. The third painter finished job to almost our expectations. Completion of job extended on because of a dropped cabinet door by a paint match expert at Kelly Moore who dropped and broke one of our cabinet doors. The need for a door replacement and painting of said door went on for quite a while. All this said, Nick, the owner was always professional and punctual in keeping us informed. He did not ask for the final payment until job totally completed. Was sincerely apologetic about our experience. His wife, Michelle, also returned emails promptly. Would probably use this company again because didn't feel that any of this was his fault.

Nick was prompt, his crew finished early and his wife was always efficient with the coordination and paperwork. I wanted a firm quote, but had to live with time and material billing.

I am so happy with the service from Heartwood Residential. From the first email contact to the completion of the job. On Sunday evening, I emailed Heartwood with my list of items requiring fixing. Monday morning, an email was waiting for me. Michelle needed clarification of the water line problem and within a few minutes another email popped in with the costs. She asked how soon I needed the work done and because the light had been out before Christmas, I requested an "ASAP". Well, to my good fortune, they were able to come out today - Tuesday between 12-2. About 30 minutes before 2, Nick called to tell me he was running a tad late and that he should be there about 2:15, and he was. I explained each of the service areas and Nick went to work. First was the clogged hot water line. There was barely any water pressure. I assumed it was a clog in the angle stop, but Nick suggested it could be the valve in the hot water faucet. Low and behold, that was the issue. Small "rocks" had completely imbedded themselves in the valve. Guess that's what they mean by "hard water." :-) Problem solved. Next was the caulking of my counter. No problem, done. Followed up with the ballast replacement. Nick quickly went to the hardware store to pick up the ballast and now we have all lights working in the kitchen Success!! Before leaving, I asked Nick about a replacement front door and framing. He gave me a ballpark number, but also suggested some alternatives to reduce the costs. Once we decide on a door, we'll most likely have Nick come out again. Everything completed within the 2/Hour Minimum - $180 cost. (+materials) Nick was both personable and professional.

They were very responsive in getting back to us. The guy that came out was very thorough, personable and gave us a thorough quote.

The sump pumpneeds to be replaced so I am rescheduling another appointment

Nov 8th Follow-up visit after my initial review where the handyman made corrections to the work I was unhappy with at no extra charge. Second appt was much better Nick was on time and work was satisfactory. I would now consider them for future jobs. Nov 1st First they called in the morning and wanted to move the appt. to another day. When I explained that I took the day off of work they said they would send someone between 1230 and 1, rather than the original time of 1030. At 3 minutes till 1 the handyman called me and said he was running late, saying he would be to my house in 15 minutes. About 130 he called me and said he had gone to an incorrect address and he would now be to my house in 20 minutes. He finally arrived at 205. Ok...so the job I wanted was to hang 20 pictures on a wall in evenly spaced rows and columns. It seemed to me like it would be a pain in the butt to try and line up everything perfectly so I wanted to hire a professional. Well I did not get what I was expecting out of the professional. First off he said 20 pictures would not fit well into the space and that I should go with 16 pictures instead...I had no issue with the change so I said go for it. He then spent over an hour measuring out the placement for the 16 pictures...which to me seemed very excessive. I could not tell if it was a stall tactic or he was just not at all good at doing measurements. It was at this point that I considered just asking him to leave but I fought my better judgement and kept quiet. So after the hour+ of measuring he put in all the nails and hung the pictures...they were crooked. So then he did some more measuring and adjusting and then they were better but still not perfect...this was now more than 2 hours in...they charge by the hour. Next he did some touch up painting because he had basically written a novel on my wall from all the measuring and remeasuring and remeasuring. The touch up painting went fine. When that wall was drying he shifted over to hanging two large pictures and a clock. The clock seems to be okay...but the screw he used to hang it seems to be too large because I could not get it down off the wall to adjust the time after he left. The other two pictures came out okay but he again incorrectly measured and now I have a large extra hole hidden by one of the pictures, which he said he would patch but it never ended up happening. After the first wall was dry he went back to hanging the 16 pictures. He started hanging them and when he could tell that they were not lining up properly... he said the hangers on the back were not all at the same height. He put on all the hangers on the back of the frames mind you. By this point I was just over the whole thing so I said I would finish putting the frames onto the nails after he left. Then he offered to sweep which was a nice idea but again tick tock...the measuring problems that started the appt. had eaten up so much time that I needed to wrap this all up. So that is the long story. So what I feel like I got was 16 crooked pictures. 2 decently hung pictures with an extra un-patched hole...and a clock that will have the wrong time until I fight it off the wall. I admit that I am not a handy man...which is why I hired this company...and the end result was not much better than what I should have done myself. At least then I could be un satisfied with the result for free.

FANTASTIC WORK! Nick listened to absolutely every detail I provided. His subcontractor was extremely detailed and took the time to do the job right. Per my request, they used redwood heartwood. They also kept the design aesthetic that I requested down to the tiniest details. I was also very please to see that they were extremely professional to our neighbors and those passing by who had questions. The work took about a half day longer than expected, but it was worth the wait. We will happily use their services again. Thank you!

Their response was always fast and very professional. The house was being readied for rental and since I lived out of state I wasn't available to choose the granite. They went to their resources and picked which pieces would work best, sent me pictures and their recommendations. The granite that was chosen had a natural line that ran through the piece, but they were able to cut the granite so that it was elimitated. They made the whole process so easy and the results were beautiful. I had other quotes for this job that came in twice as much. I continue to use Heartwood for all projects for this house. I know the tasks are done well and don't have to worry about follow ups. I just wish they also worked out of state!

I contacted Heartwood by email. I heard back from Michelle and she offered me two choices to pay by the hour or have Nick look at the specs and give me a flat price. She then recommended getting a flat price (which turned out to be cheaper for me). I was told I might be getting a quote by the end of the week, but it did actually take about two weeks from the time of initial contact. However, as soon as I agreed upon the price, they set up the appointment for the next day, which worked perfect for my work schedule. I did not have to be there and the work was done completely and kept the yard very neat and tidy.

Heartwood did offer to do the work for free another time, but I had specifically taken time off work to get the job done and could not take more time off. They also could not do the main task, which did not make using them worthwhile. There was an incomplete communication from office staff to service provider in the ceiling height, which would have been much better if they said they could not do the job at the beginning. I would not recommend them.

He was very knowledgeable and he obviously knows his field. He seemed very honest and was truthful when it came to something that may be out of his expertise.

They did an excellent job on all three projects. The back patio is the best it has looked since it was originally installed. This is the best organization I have used to work on our home. Nick Yegge, the owner of the company does an excellent job of overseeing the work, making sure it is done to his and my satisfaction, communicating regularly with the customer on when the work will be done and by who and generally managing the project. His wife, Michelle handles all the billing and scheduling and communicates daily as needed by e-mail to insure that I was fully informed on all aspects of the project. They are a great pair and are running a very efficient organization. While Nick is probably not the least expensive person I have had do work for me, I did not have any problem with their charges because the quality of work was excellent.

They did a great job! They are very friendly and responsive. They provided good quality work with a professional attitude. I would recommend their services.

Our floor contractor ended up putting in our new wooden floor 1/8" lower than the original (badly installed) floor so we needed someone to paint the walls and reset the baseboards. Nick showed up earlier than we expected and was able to complete the job. He did an excellent job and we are going to schedule him to come back and go through our long list of things to do.

Very careful and professional. Discussed what I felt was important and a variety of ways to get the job done. Had several good suggestions and, once we settled on what to do, Nick went to get the necessary hardware then quickly and carefully went to work and got the job done. Excellent service!

The work went great. Everyone arrived on time, the work got done as scheduled. Every evening the materials were stowed back in the truck leaving my bathroom and bedroom livable (minus the shower of course). I have a dog and everyone was careful to close doors behind them. And, best of all, the bathroom shower looked brand new when all the work was done (note: it took about a week).

Work was performed using environment friendly materials which are not as good as the old fashioned materials. The grout washed out with use after 48 hrs of non-use. Heartwood came out again and user better environment friendly materials but still after 3 days of non-use, the sealant would not cure. Most of the sealant has washed out and now the environment friendly grout easily mildews. Recommend not using environment friendly materials.

Nicholas Yegge, owner of Heartwood Residential, was punctual, polite, professional and a delight to work with. He was expert at all he did, and solved problems with creativity and skill. He did a superb job and solved a number of problems. I highly recommend him as an all-purpose handyman.

Nick was very easy to work with. He listened to any questions or concerns and took care of them. He also had really good ideas of how to approach things in the most efficient and cost-effective ways. The quality of the finish work around the doors, and the stucco that matched up perfectly with the rest of the house--same with interior texturing. High quality work, finished when he said he would, and the price was more reasonable than the other bids I received--what more could you want! The only thing that was difficult at all was being able to get on their calendar--but it makes sense because when you find a good contractor, the word gets out and they are usually pretty busy! Heartwood was worth the wait, and I will definitely use them again!
