Earth Electric is different from the big solar providers. - They're good at what they do. It's not a sales company with some outsourced subcontractor labor. The staff you talk to are the ones doing the the actual work, not someone in a boiler room selling systems they will never see. - Friendly, prompt, fair prices and extremely knowledgable. - Locally owned, woman owned, with real employees not subs. They will be there for you after the install is done. - Head installer Zack came and looked at my complex situation in person, without needing any arm twisting to do it, and gave me a sketch immediately of what would work, where, how many panels, etc. No other company would even show up without a commitment. - Sheryl is a powerhouse of information and in-depth knowledge. She gave me information about manufacturers that was very crucial to me, for long term service and reliability, which is just as important to me as the initial price. - Earth Electric stuck with me through a difficult and changing scenario as my ADU construction went a bit sideways...city planners made things complicated...it all worked out in the end, and I still got a good deal on my beautiful LG panels. - Very importantly, for me, Earth Electric worked hand in hand with the contractor who (unexpectedly) had to give me a new roof at the last minute. (Kent Roofing, also highly recommended!) **If you need a new roof AND solar at the same time, this is the dream team combination that will make your life bearable, as you navigate that scenario.** In summary, my situation was complicated and kept changing (plus, hello, Covid making everything harder), and the array was not all that big. Earth Electric was exactly what I needed them to be: hyper-competent, confidence inspiring, and excellent in service. EXCELLENT in service. And, still a super competitive price! I give Sheryl, Zack, Zack and the rest of the crew my highest recommendation. I will never regret going with them.

Description of Work: RFQ handled exceptionally quickly, on a Friday evening, with follow up questions quickly and thoroughly addressed by Sheryl. Sheryl understood my criteria for the "best value" system, not the highest quality or lowest cost, and gave me great feedback to make equipment choices. The installation is handled by Matthew, who is also a solar system instructor. In addition to his regular crew, he had some "apprentices" and it was great to see him giving his guys pointers like "ok, what is the customer's name?" and where to put the ladder to not damage the gutters. Just can't say enough about supporting a local, high quality outfit. My solar started working immediately and we are tickled pink to see our smaller system addressing our long term electric needs.

I have a older, 3.8 KWatt solar panel with a battery backup system that I had installed in 2001. A component in the system had failed, and the first electrician I called took a look and said they weren't qualified to deal with solar - best to call the company that did the installation. The company that sold & installed the system was out of business. Many solar companies I called will only service the systems they installed; Earth Electric was one of the few who would come out to a diagnosis and work on the system. Because of the age of the system, and the complexity of having the battery backup (which was only used about 3 times in the past 14 years), I wanted the system reconfigured to remove the battery backup, and the inverter replaced. The job was done on schedule, and my solar panel system has been working well.
Description of Work: Earth Electric diagnosis problems with my solar panel system and replaced/reconfigured the system.

I don't think I will go with them. I didn't have any objections to them but I wasn't interested in the components they were using so that's why I didn't go with them. There was nothing wrong with the interaction.
Description of Work: I got quotes from Earth Electric for a solar system.

We requested quotes for an ~8kW solar system to a number of local solar installers that we found on Yelp and Angie's List. Sheryl (Earth Electric Project/Marketing Manager) was the first to respond with a detailed quote. She responded in less than 24 hours! We also ultimately had responses from five other companies, including all the large brand name companies. We had a lot of questions about the process and the technology. Of all the companies, Sheryl was the fastest to respond, and provided the most detailed information. No question was too stupid and she cheerfully answered multiple rounds of questions a day, whether by email or by phone. Even better, Earth Electric's quote was the lowest bid. Sheryl's husband Matthew performs all the installations himself with the help of a small crew. Matthew runs a tight ship over his crew. Matthew is clearly an experienced solar professional. He even teaches solar installation classes at the local community college. The solar installation was completed and up and running in three days, including all the electrical work, the installation of a new sub-panel, and sign-off by the building inspector. Sheryl handled all the interaction with PGand E for the Net Energy Metering permission and provided regular updates on its progress. We would recommend Earth Electric for a PV solar installation without hesitation and reservation. Sheryl and Matthew are fine example of a local business that cares about and puts the customer first.
