I would highly recommend Alexander and Sons. They did 800 square feet of exposed aggregate patio and matched it very well to an existing patio. Paul was pleasant and very professional. We discussed my plan and he produced an estimate that took into effect all aspects of the job, the schedule and the payment. He also produced a list of similar jobs for reference. He and his team showed up on time and followed the plan exactly including grading an area full of tree roots. They kept the site clean each day. The result was very nice and the price was reasonable. I would use them again for any additional concrete work.

I asked for an estimate for required repairs per the city of san jose and then additional cost for demo of two approx. 6x6 concrete slabs between sidewalk and curb. Paul failed to do this simple request. His bid was twice that of others........... outrageous. Also one of other bids was also priced with a minimum per job because this is such a small job. Save the $45 fee to give a bid. This company is not even competitive and what more I believe since it was for my elderly mother this is simply trying to take advantage. If I had the city do the required work it would be about $1900 total . I added the two approx. 6x6 slabs ...... only for demo-- to be removed and left with dirt. They want $4900....... what person in their right mind believes this is anything but a rip off, non competitive bid.

A whole crew descended on the property, worked quickly and did a very good job.

Paul and his crew did a fantastic job with our new driveway and we are very pleased with the result. When we started soliciting quotes to replace our old asphalt driveway, we were surprised at how expensive it would be. After seeing all the labor and care that went into the job, we now understand why. We believe that we paid a very fair price. After the contract was signed, they told us that work would begin on Tuesday at 7:30 AM and that is exactly what happened. The foreman introduced himself and his crew and told us what to expect in the next few days. We were always kept apprised of what work was coming up and when they would be on site. The whole job took about two weeks, including time for the concrete to cure. There were a lot of details to take care of: demolition and debris removal, relocating sprinkler pipes, excavating and constructing forms for the concrete pour and the brick trim, concrete pour and aggregate seeding, brick laying, filling in excavated areas, acid washing, and final cleanup. All along the way, Paul checked in with us and made sure we were satisfied with the work as it progressed. At one point, the crew had dry laid all the brick and we were checking out the pattern. I noticed that there would be a cut brick at the edge of the connecting walkway and commented on it. Two hours later, the whole brick placement had been redone to eliminate the cut entirely. They clearly wanted to do the job right. The crews were polite and considerate, always willing to answer questions, and clearly proud of their work. Our neighbors have commented on how nice the new driveway looks, and considering the noise and traffic that they had to put up with, that's a strong endorsement.

We hired Alexander & Sons to transform our front courtyard. Overall, we couldn?t be more pleased with the process and the outcome. From day one, Paul was very easy to work with and understood what we were trying to accomplish. Every day throughout the project he spent a lot of time supervising his crew and inspecting their progress. The end result is a gorgeous courtyard, which includes a slate tile sidewalk, crushed granite patio area, plus new concrete along our driveway and a replaced portion of our front sidewalk. They also replaced our sprinkler valves and ran underground drainage pipes towards the street. I highly recommend Alexander & Sons, especially for projects where craftsmanship and style matter!

I think they did a very good job. I compared their price to another contractor and their price was better. As far as I can tell it was excellent quality. They were extremely responsive and I got along well with the head of the company. He was very nice and very willing to be flexible. There was no problem with punctuality; he finished the work on time. The professionalism was excellent.

Paul and his crew tore up and replaced our cracking driveway with stamped concrete and put down walkways on both side of it, one leading up tot front door and other to the backyard gate. The front door walkway design was mine and probably ended up being more complicated in terms of its execution. I was going for the modern look. I dont think I got 100% what I wanted for that, but those kind of steps and walkways probably need to be built differently than pouring concrete - may be with prefab concrete slabs. Anyway I am reasonably happy with it and once the landscaping around them mature in a couple of years it would be fine. We also chose two different colors for the driveway and walkways which adds to the cost and I am not sure it was worth it. Paul is a very professional and particular individual and for every change order he documents the changes, reprices things and makes sure everything is signed and agreed. Even though I like a more informal style of working which I have experienced with my other contractors, but I totally understand his point. I am sure he wants to make sure he does not get burnt in the end. He and his crew were very punctual. He was there most days to supervise the work personally. His prices are somewhat on the high side. But if the quality of the work holds it is worth it. It has been over 6 months now since they finished the work. There is one hairline crack on the main steps of the front walkway. But that is unavoidable based on what others have told me. In general the quality of the work has held up well so far. My only advise would be plan your design well and think through all the options you want before you price it and /sign the contract and it would go just fine.

That went really well but I did not use their services. They were very prompt. The bid was a little bit high.

I hired Alexander and Sons, INC to breakup, remove and replace the Driveway in front of my Home. I am very pleased with the outcome. Paul and I set up a time for an assessment of the job I needed. He came when he said he would and brought copies of his State Contractors License and Certificate of Liability Insurance, as well as a list of jobs completed with addresses so I could check the quality of his Company's work. He gave me information about the products I wanted to use and addresses of Companies where I could go to see them. He and his Crew came when they said they would, told me what they were going to do answered all of my question,s sometimes twice, and were consistently gracious and patient with my queries,. Paul was at my Home some part of each workday and provided me with the information i needed to make decisions as the work situation chlanged. As promised, they haluled away all of the old concrete and left my Property clean and well marked to prevent accidents, at the end of each day. Paul was consistenly prompt to return my phone calls and e-mails messages. I would highly recommend Alexander and Sons, INC

The company was professional and prompt. We weren't sure what exactly we wanted, but we were guided through the process with patience and clarity. They performed their work excellently and the result was flawless. There isn't much else to say. Great company.

Alexander and Sons redid my driveway and front porch last year, and I've been extremely happy with the results. I had a couple of estimates, and they came in with a bid that was fair and comprehensive. They demolished my old (cracked) driveway, my front porch, walkway, and some flowerbed trim. They replaced all that (along with a new small walkway to my side yard) with new stamped concrete. I choose two colors and a pattern, so that there is real definition in the design. I'm very happy with both the finished look, and with the work that Alexander & Sons did. I had a list of their references, and drove around looking at their work - all of it was very well done. They were very professional. Paul Sarkis gave me my estimate, and was there on the job every day with the workers. It didn't take very long, a few days I think. The hardest part was the wait I had before I drove over the cement. I've had the driveway about a year now, and and still extremely satisfied. I do have a couple of hairline cracks, but they did everything they could to minimize that. and the other bids I had also indicated that those usually happen. I had my side yard done a few years earlier by someone else, and the concrete never set properly, so I can say that this company knows what they are doing. I would definitely recommend them.

Paul Sarkis responded quickly to my request to get my driveway sealed. Initially I was debating doing the power washing myself, but the cost of renting the equipment and having it delivered was not that much less than his bid of $200 for the power washing. So, I was happy to have him do it. He and his employees showed up as scheduled. The day after the driveway was power washed, Paul came and did the sealing himself (following a quick trip by one of his employees with the blower to make sure nothing was on the driveway from the previous day). Paul was very thorough in the sealing, and spent extra time going over some of the areas that had faded to make sure they were thoroughly sealed to prevent further fading. The results look great. I discussed having him come back to replace my sidewalk and he provided me information on a showroom to go see what is provided. He also gave me many alternatives explaining the pros and cons, as well as the costs, of each. I will be calling him when I make a decision to have him complete the work. He is a very reliable and thorough contractor. Thanks to Angie's List for providing me with yet another excellent recommendation!

The job went very well, great communication on all phases, started punctually and job took just about a week as I had a short time table from closing to move in date and Paul made it happen. He worked well with other contractors on job site. I am pleased and will use again on other projects.

I absolutely love the quality of work that they did. They're really good. The staff were great. They communicated well, were quick and were all about the business and getting the job done. I never once saw them hanging out or wasting time. I talked to the owner and he wasn't the cheapest guy I found but I think he was the most knowledgeable and his attitude was right. I felt more comfortable with him than talking to any of the other guys. I would definitely recommend them.

They were very responsive. They let me know that they will not be able to bid for the project as I have already picked the subcontractors. They would not be able to use the same subcontractors that I have decided on. So, they did not do the work for me. They were quite upfront. I will consider them for a future project.

When he came out for the quote, he handed me a folder with 3 pages of driveways and similar work in our area, a copy of his current insurance, a copy of his license and a color brochure. After talking with me about what I wanted, he starred four addresses from the list of previous work and told me to go have a look at them. He presented the quote on time. (Actually, he did everything on time as promised) I also got 3 additional bids. We talked at length about drainage. He was the most knowledgeable about all aspects of the job. I felt very confident hiring Alexander and Sons. I'm ecstatic about the results. If you need concrete work hire Alexander and Sons. I need some more things done at a future date and won't even bother looking at other companies. Honestly the whole crew were extremely skilled and professional.

I made a number of changes prior to executing the contract adnf Paul was very accommodating. I also had to push back the date of project commencement due to some unexpected travel. Once again, Paul was very accommodating. Once we executed a contract, the crews arrives as scheduled and did a good job from start to finish. I am please with the product and even though the install is recent, I know I will be happy with the way it turned out. It looks fabulous.
