We hired Jim to glue down approximately 1,500 square feet (5 rooms) of hardwood floors in our remodeled home. Upon discussing the job, Jim pointed out two problem areas where new concrete slab joined with the existing raised foundation that were not level. One area was in our Master bedroom. Jim, got down on his hands and knees, felt the floor and said "this isn't too bad. I can level this down with my hand grinder." When it came to the other room (our office), he said the the problem was too severe and recommended we hire someone with a professional grinding machine to take care of the problem. Ultimately, our general contract fixed the problem in the office, but we did not do anything to the Master bedroom because Jim had already indicated that he would level it with his hand grinder. After the job was completed my husband and I noticed that the wood in the Master bedroom had a small peak running along the length of the room at the exact place where the new foundation meets with the original raised foundation. I called Jim and told him that it appeared he had forgotten to use the hand grinder in the master bedroom. Jim was extremely defensive and insisted that he never said he was going to do anything to that floor. I reminded Jim that he was down on his hands and knees literally running his hands across the floor when he said it and that I wasn't even familiar with what a "hand grinder" was, and only knew the term because he said he was going to use it to level our Master bedroom. It was then that he began to back-pedal and said he may have originally mentioned grinding it, but that he later said he would not. I told him that he never said he would not do it because if he had, I would have made sure that my contractor fixed the problem (just as he had fixed the office floor) to which Jim replied that even if he had used the hand grinder, it wouldn't have made a difference, because it would have only helped by 1/8th of an inch. I told him that even 1/8" reduction would help. I asked him to repair the problem, but he outright refused. My bedroom floor has a peak running along the length of the room. It looks embarrassing and unprofessional. I therefore would not recommend Jim to anyone.

It was a good experience. He did a very nice job. He was on time and knew what he was talking about. I have no complaints because he was just really good. He knew what he had to do. He was there on time, came in, did his work, cleaned up and went home. He was a very pleasant and honest man. I would recommend him to other people.

Jim told us it would take 2-3 days and he was good on his word, finishing in 2 days. He would come early (7 on the dot when he said he would be there) and worked until done in the evening 5 the first day and around 3 the second day. He is fast, thorough and is good on his word. He left the job site clean and was very well organized in his work. He was even concerned with my mother-in-law who lives with us, wanting to keep her safe and giving us a heads up for things she should watch out for while he was on the job. Only small down side was that he is in high demand so scheduling was tight, so I guess the take home here is know in advance when you want to have the work done and call sooner than later. After he was done, H came to our house on a Saturday to work on a few minor issues that we had and told us to call anytime if we found any other issues. So far so good. I recommend Jim Jordahl without hesitation to friends, family, and anyone interested. Our house looks amazing. Thank you Jim.
Description of Work: Jim is fantastic, he really knows his business as he should after 30 years of installing, refinishing, repairing and selling floors. My wife and I are very skeptical of hiring anyone in the construction trade, but he met or exceeded all of my expectations and I would recommend his service to anyone wanting to have a floor installed, sanded, stained, or repaired. We contacted Jim through another company, after the first "recommended" installer flaked on us we were very skeptical of this other guy. Well, not only did Jim show up when scheduled, he was actually a few minutes early. He measured our house, gave us a detailed purchase list and answered every single question that my wife or I could throw at him. There was no hesitation and when he left, we were confident that he was the right installer for us.
