Response from Coastal Kitchens and Design
The person who posted this was designing her own bathroom as owner builder and ordered cabinetry based on the design she already had. All items were delivered and in perfect order. I am a designer and order materials only. The contracting company she used is licensed but I do not hire contractors. When the contractor called me and said that they would not pay him, he asked me to call the customer and see if I would be able to mediate and suggested if they did not want to pay him directly, then maybe they would pay him through his bonding company so they would allow him to finish the work he was doing for them but they did not want to have him come back to finish their work. She was upset that the manufacturer took longer than the estimated delivery time expected which states right on their website that this is an estimated delivery schedule and not an actual delivery date. I as a business person have no control over any manufacturer’s delivery issues but did fulfill the materials being delivered. I advised her not to start her remodel with the other contractors she had lined up until the cabinets were here but she did anyway and this is what she is most upset with - that She tore her bathroom apart and due to the fact that she was managing her remodel, did not know the proper process for items to go in first. She had the floors done way beforehand and the unlevel floor showed how level cabinets were which didn't look good. I don't ever advise a homeowner to manage their own remodel project. These are the things that can happen to you! Custom cabinetry (or any custom product) is non-refundable and if she has an issue with what a contractor does, that would be between the customer and the contractor.
