Neil replied promptly to my Angie's List request for a quote, came by with an appointment on time within a few days, wrote an estimate on the spot, and we had the work completed within 2 weeks. Gabriel and Armando, the installers, arrived a bit early for their scheduled work, were efficient and neat, and we had working blinds and cellular shades within an hour from start to finish. We are happy to have window coverings throughout our home now, giving it a much more 'together' look throughout. Having locally made custom-made window coverings in not inexpensive, but we are happy with the results. It would have taken us much longer, and we might have not had the quality to choose from. + -1 moreWe hired Neil at Window Blind Connection to help us choose and install multiple blinds throughout our home. We needed 7 motorized large sun shades for Sliding Door style windows, and about 4 other manual blinds for smaller windows. Neil was great with helping us choose the right shades that would look great and provide the proper amount of sun blocking. For some we needed black out shades and for others we wanted sun screen shades that we could still see through when they were down. His taste of colors, materials and styles was outstanding. Although selecting the proper motors was a little more difficult, Neil was good at following up with me regularly as he was in touch with manufacturers to make sure we got motors that worked for the size and weight of the blinds we chose. Once we had everything selected, it was easy to schedule the installation. The installation timeline was fine for us, but it was not exactly a "rush job". The availability for installation was a bit limited. If we had needed this job done as fast as possible we would have been in trouble, but we had a time window of a few weeks and Neil was able to get the job done in the time we needed. The initial installation went fairly well, although they had to return at a later date to fix one or two of the blinds that were not cut quite right the first time. However, I viewed this in a positive way. They did their best to make sure everything was perfect, and when it wasn't they happily scheduled a fast next date to come back and make the needed fixes. When they left that time everything was working perfectly and looking outstanding! After about six months of use, there were a few issues with the functionality of the motors in the automatic blinds. Neil happily had his crew come back to diagnose and make any needed fixes. Some of the motors had to be replaced, which they did in a reasonable amount of time. All of this follow up work was provided graciously and at no cost to us. Overall we were delighted with the work of Window Blind Connection. Although the price was not cheap, it seemed fair for what was a reasonable large job with very high quality blinds and motors. Neil was a pleasure to work with and clearly very experienced, qualified and tasteful about what he does. The only reason we rated "Punctuality" a B instead of an A like everything else is because the time frames we were given for the installation and later adjustment/repair work was limited, so the labor was scheduled for a few weeks out instead of within a week or so. We were aware of this going into the deal and it worked just fine for us, but would have been an issue if we needed the work done more quickly. We will hire this company again if we have future window blind needs and we would enthusiastically recommend them to anyone else needing beautiful, functional and high quality window treatments.

Description of Work: In 2012, we remodeled our 1928 West Los Angeles home from the ground up. For window treatments, we chose custom up-down honey-cone blinds. We interviewed 4 companies from Angie's List based on their reviews. Each interview included going over design ideas, product samples of various grades, installation schedule, pricing and whether we felt that we could easily work with the contractor. Our preference was for higher end blinds given the nature and extent of our remodel. The job entailed blinds for 22 custom size windows of various dimensions and vertical blinds for two sliding doors. Based on our criteria, after interviewing Neil Geller, owner of WBC, we chose his company for the job. The completion of installation date was critical to us. After being out of our home for over nine months, moving back in in late October 2012, we had invited a large number of family members and friends for Thanksgiving dinner at our "new" home. What we didn't realize at the time that we sent out the invites was that for custom blinds there would be a substantial time interval from date of contract to date of installation due to out-of-state manufacturing. Neil said that he would do everything possible to make sure that the installation was completed in time for Thanksgiving. There was a glitch at the manufacturer that looked like it would delay the delivery of the blinds until after Thanksgiving. Neil said that he would use his long time connections and volume of orders with the manufacturer so that thee blinds would be in L.A. the week of Thanksgiving. This included expedited overnight delivery from the manufacturer at no additional cost to us. The blinds arrived at WBC on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Neil had a crew at our home on Thanksgiving morning at 7 am to install the blinds. Job perfectly completed by 11 am. The blinds were the crowning touch to our remodel. In 2016, when we did an extension to our home (that we should have thought about when we did the original remodel in 2012), we called on Neil and WBC once again. Same kind of service that we received the first time. Here is another thing that sets Neil and WBC apart from most other companies, not only in the window treatment industry but also in almost all other home services. Three weeks ago (October 2017), a cable on one of the up-down blinds that had been installed in 2012 snapped. Although the warranty on the blinds had long ago expired, Neil picked up the blind from our home, had it sent back to the out-of-state manufacturer for repair or replacement, and three weeks later, on a Saturday morning, he personally returned to reinstall the blind. Cost to us: zero despite the two visits and WBC's out-of-pocket expenses. Over the past five years, we have referred several of our personal and professional friends to WBC. The reports back to us from those who used WBC have all been positive.

+ -1 moreNeil, the owner, responded very quickly to my initial call for an estimate, as I told him that I was leaving on a vacation in about 4 weeks, which was a week or two shorter than the normal order/fabrication/installation time for a job of this size. He measured the windows and gave me an immediate estimate, which was very reasonable in my view, for wood shutters that consisted of 4/8 hinged panels each. He called his installer when I gave him the go-ahead, and scheduled the installation within my available time window. On the scheduled installation day, Carlos, the installer, arrived on time, and installed all of the shutters within about 4 hours. He even offered to repair a blade on one of our existing shutter panels which had a broken hinge pin, although it was not technically within the scope of the bid (at no charge). Carlos was very professional, and did a beautiful installation. We're extremely happy with the shutters, and are appreciative of the professionalism, punctuality and quality of the work done by Neil and Carlos. I highly recommend the Window Blind Connection for your plantation shutter needs.

Very reasonable price + his Angie's List coupon made this work for us. Even though I had a few other estimates scheduled, I wound up canceling them and signing with him right then. Quick turnaround and fast, clean installation. Followed up on the phone to check in on everything with me after the job was done. This is the type of customer service that I expect but very rarely wind up getting. So kudos to Neil for doing it right.

+ -1 moreEverything went as promised. I made my order on December 10 and was warned that the holidays would delay delivery. Installation wasn't until January 16. Neil worked around my schedule so I didn't need to take time off of work. They even took my old miniblinds for disposal, at no charge!
Description of Work: I ordered a vertical honeycomb blind for my living room sliding door and a matching horizontal honeycomb blind for the adjacent dining room window. Also a different color horizontal honeycomb blind for the bedroom.

+ -1 moreUnlike other providers, who wanted a fee to make a house call twice, once to come out and look at the job and take the blinds and another to bring it back, this provider came out and looked at my repair for free. He matched the colour and took the damaged blind with him to get it repaired. Within the promised week, he brought them back, fully fixed and installed to repaired blinds. Again, no charge for the service call. Additionally, I had some crimped and tangled blinds in the kitchen that he took a look at and fixed on the spot for free. He was courteous, well spoken, and a pleasure to deal with.
