Description of Work: Mr. Richards never returned the calls of our manager. I still need someone to build a deck for us but I've lost confidence in using this service.

Description of Work: This provider did nothing; I've called Scott Richards on two occasions (separated by a few weeks -- different projects) and have not gotten a returned call to either message. I know it's the right phone number because the "machine" answers with his name. Very unprofessional to, at least, not let us know he is unavailable. What a waste of our time!

 + 0 moreIt was clear he knows what he's doing as he applied his experience to the rot patterns in our deck - pointing out likely causes and thinking hard about how to replace pieces in a minimal but effective way. In the end, we discovered enough rot and damage to recommend full replacement, for which he gave a fair sounding estimate. We can't replace the deck til we have other foundation work done, so we're holding off for now, and following his advice to correct the problems. We'll definitely call Scott again when we need carpentry work.
Description of Work: Scott was responsive to come by for an estimate for our 30 yr old front porch deck. We can't replace it until more major work is done on the house, and he was very flexible with suggestions for repairing it given our limitations and the scope of the rot. However, he also pointed out that the deck will likely last until we're able to do all the other work. He ended up recommending a very inexpensive solution that should work for us. We look forward to working with Scott again, as he clearly has integrity.

 + 0 moreScott was very professional. He said he would come every day for 5 days and he did. His work was excellent and he cleaned up before he left. My deck is beautiful - thanks to Scott and his brother, Eddy. Scott guarantees his work so if I need to change or have him fix anything from this job, he will stand behind his work and come work with me. It has been a very positive experience.
Description of Work: Replaced decking that was dry rotted. Scott gave me a price of $3,000.00. When the fencing was taken down it was discovered that the fences were rotting away as well as the decks. Scott replaced the decking on two decks and stairs leading to the back yard and then built two new fences on each side of the decks. Even with the unexpected new fences, the job came out to $209.00 less than his original quote.

 + 0 moreShowed up early and worked long days, even though it was fairly hot weather. Extremely hard worker. Worked alone without help. No complaints. Roofing was a bit loose and he came back to fix it and spent several hours without charge. Provided all receipts for materials.
Description of Work: Demo of old wooden porch/deck. Built new redwood deck with a clear roof. Several dump runs.

 + 0 moreThe deck demolition and rebuild went very well and I am very happy with Scott's work. He is very diligent and professional. He works very hard to make sure you are happy with the job and communicates very well during a project. I would use him again without hesitation.
Description of Work: Scott demolished and replaced our rear deck which is about 200 square feet with a landing and two sets of stairs.

 + -1 moreOverall the job went very well. Scott gave us a quote with a max labor amount and stuck to it. He was on the job early each day and worked through the entire day. The only time we didn't see him was when he went shopping for materials. He asked questions instead of making assumptions and allowed us to help in the construction as well. The job went a little longer than he had expected, so planning might be a concern in the future. In the end, we liked Scott's work and will probably hire him again for other handyman or carpentry jobs.
Description of Work: Scott took our existing backyard deck and essentially doubled it in size. We wanted to re-use as much of the existing deck as possible and not pour any additional concrete (from the patio that already existed). The job consisted of him purchasing all materials, demolition of a portion of the old deck, anchor new posts into the existing patio, build up the new deck to match up to the old. This would be a challenging job as the patio is on a slight grade, and the existing deck was not necessarily built properly.

Description of Work: Scott helped me finish my flooring project - installing all the trim - on a moment's notice and with a high degree of professionalism. When I saw the level of detail he approach this project with, i asked him to help me with other smaller projects. All tolled, he did a fantastic job and will not take you to the cleaners doing it!
