Description of Work: We had a deck, a Pergola a gate and a fence built by Matt. Everything was perfect from first quote to job completion. Matt and his guys are conscientious and honest people who really care about the work they do. We have no qualms in asking them to quote for more jobs or for coming back to deal with routine maintenance.

Description of Work: Matt Thompson and his crew are simply the best. Honest and trustworthy and he hides nothing from you. He shows up when he says he wil. We have worked with Matt 4 times. This time, he built a very challenging ipe (Brazillian Teak, very dense and hard) fence on a hillside. He used steal poles burying them deeply, and anchored everything, laying gravel and rock beneath and placing protective barriers below to prevent erosion of hillside topsoil. Then oiled -NOT STAINED- the dense hardwood. It looks beautiful! Matt let me know every step of the way exactly what was going to happen. He also watched out for me when other contractors were in the yard doing things they shouldn't have been doing. I can't say enough about this stress-free experience.

+ -1 moreIt was a great experience. I've been looking at bids for this job since the spring, getting estimates of $50/sq. ft. I don't believe a deck, 3 feet off of the ground, replacing an existing one should cost anywhere near that price. I waited until the fall and began collecting new bids. One wanted to repair existing wood deck (not what I asked for), one was $48/sq.ft., the third was very well priced at $21/sq.ft., but he wanted to do the rails in wood. I chose Matt Thompson at YourDeckBuilder.com for a few reasons: (1) he e-mailed me - on his honeymoon - to let me know he could not come by earlier than October 1; (2) he called me on Oct. 1 and came to bid on the job on Oct. 2, a week after all the other folks had come out. Even though he looked at the job a week later, he submitted a very good bid BEFORE the others and indicated he could start immediately. I had to contact the other contractors in order to compare bids! (3) he listened to what I wanted, as little wood maintenance as possible, and gave me what I asked for. I signed a contract with Matt on Oct 6 and the job was completed by Oct 10. Matt is great. He gets the job done, takes the time to review progress and answer the homeowner's questions, and is friendly and polite. The job site was well cleaned at the completion of the project. The deck is really beautiful! Look at it, and others, on his website: www.yourdeckbuilder.com. Mine is the one with Winchester Grey Trex, white railings and white lattice skirting.
Description of Work: Removed existing 10x12 wood deck down to footings. Replaced with a 13x12 Trex deck and steel rails (topped with stained wood), disposed of old deck.

+ -1 moreI called and recieved 3 seperate estimates from different contractors. The meeting with Matt went the best by far. He didnt tell me what I could or could not do!, as some others did. He listend to what I wanted and gave me advise for all the options. He said in so may words "anything is possible". I told him my budget range and we came up with and removed differnt ways to do the project. I ended up being $800.00 under the budget I set out to spend on this project
