Turning Point Woodwork

Description of Work: Custom-made, built-in, wood file drawers and shelves designed, built and installed. The unit included six double-deep file drawers, one double-deep, double-wide file drawer, three pencil/supply drawers, six shelves, bead board backing and a countertop installed. I interviewed a lot of cabinet makers before I found James. I wasn't getting the look I wanted, the storage design I needed, nor a price that felt reasonable. (Everything felt so boxy and sterile.) James came in and immediately understood what I needed, designed something with visual flare, and gave me a price that was lower than everyone else's. What a find. I told James I wanted a countertop above the file drawers; he came up with the idea of raising its height by adding thin drawers above the file drawer, given me extra storage space for supplies. I love using my countertop when I pull books off the shelf, place papers on it while filing, or stack materials next to my copier as I work and the height is perfect. I thought I wanted a countertop made of stone (or formica because it's cheaper), but James advised stained wood, which I love soooo much more. Wood fits in better with the look of my office and saved me money. He matched the wood as best as he could to the color of my desk and voila - I love it. James also came up with the idea of making the top middle drawer double-wide, which visually adds flare. The bottom middle drawer is also double wide creating more visual flare and space to store larger items (also his idea). James listened when I said I didn't want to stoop to get in my file drawers, so he raised the toe kick just enough that I could get into my top files without hunching. (I'm short). Closet World also gave me a quote. They were more expensive and could only fit three file drawers going across (their drawers were 1.5 inches too wide to add a fourth). James fit four perfectly and was much nicer than the Closet World representative.

Description of Work: We wanted to give a living room wall unit built by my father-in-law 30 years ago a more modern and finished look, and James came through for us. He replaced four sets of cabinet doors and also replaced the wood pieces in between each set of doors to provide a larger access area. The shaker style of the new doors fit in nicely with the design of the shelves on top of the cabinets. He also built and installed cabinets in our garage over the washer and dryer. Communication with James was very easy and pleasant, and he completed the job on time.

Description of Work: James promptly responded to our inquiry and came to our home to provide an estimate for our project, which included building a TV cabinet and built-in window cabinet/bench for our bedroom and built in bookcases in an office. James made good suggestions and could not have been better in responding to questions and keeping us updated on the progress of the project. James provided a reasonable time estimate to complete the project and met our deadline before the holidays. The cabinets and bookcase look great. We highly recommend James, both for his professionalism and high quality work.

Description of Work: After we had some water damage that required our old cabinets to be removed, James from TP Woodwork was able to build new kitchen and pantry cabinetry and replace missing trim work for us.
